I don't think it really matters where it is, if the kids are going to snoop they will find it regardless of where it is hidden.

The best story of disguising adult paraphernalia was someone who hung fabric from the eye-bolts they had constructed in the ceiling above the bed.

To your question, I would recommend that you keep them in an opaque box in the nightstand.  If they are snooping through the nightstand and are curious enough to open a box, they have brought the trauma upon themselves.

I would suggest either a box in the nightstand (no pun intended) or the underwear drawer.  You are right, kids are going to snoop that is a given so you can only do so much to conceal your fun.  Most kids don't want to see their parents underwear so that would be my choice.

We keep everything but the colorful battery operated device in the night stand.  It has a childproof thing on the drawer which isn't going to keep teenagers out but my kids aren't the snooping types.  I was but they aren't.  The little ones on the other hand....

Until they walk out and ask you to remove the handcuffs from their wrist, you know where they've been....

Two teenagers showed up at my arcade one day, one of them was handcuffed.  They asked for help getting loose. I told them to have a seat.

I called the police and explained the situation.  I figured either he got loose from somebody and they'd want him back or whichever cop was nearest to the arcade could come by and get a good laugh.

Cops showed up and asked a few questions and unlocked him.  Fun for all!  I wish I had taken pics....

Doubt the cuffs came from a parent's nightstand, as they were REAL, as in the cop's key was exactly what they needed.  Still fun speculating on what those two had been into earlier that day...

This reminds me of an episode of The Wonder Years when the boys steal a copy of `Everything You Wanted to Know About Sex But Were Afraid to Ask.' and are reading it. The brothers get into a fight and mom walks in and sees the book. She just picks it up and says `You know, it's not so much that you have this book. I'm just so disappointed in you for going through my stuff.' and walks out.

Blowfish.com sells a jewlery box with a false bottom. But I guess it would depend on the size of the items you are hiding. You could just get a tool box you can lock.... Oh wow I'm glad I don't have to hide anything.

Ha, I have had the need to retrieve my underwear from my 14 year old daughter on multiple occasions.  It's no fun...Now I wash all my underclothes separated from theirs so no one can swipe it!

I figure if the kids snoop and find proof that mom and dad are still doing it, they deserve any emotional trauma they get. It's not like I'm leaving a homemade sex tape in the living room.  That's the same reason I stopped doing my kids' laundry - when they started wearing underwear that I would want to see on mrs gearboy...some things are better left unseen.

Go ahead, Phil....I left it out there. Yes, miss thing had no problem stealing my underwear and socks.  It annoys the hell out of me too. I cleaned her room once to prove it...found 2 pair of my Victoria Secret finest in there.

Due to various conversations, the boys know that toys exist.  They also know they are not to be snooping in my room.

If they come upon the various toys it is their own dang fault.  they deserve the trauma.

Shoe box under the bed.  Of course I would know if any of the kids found it as I would see finger prints in the dust on lid.  sad, I know.
