Member 58 portland oregon | Subject: RE: Custom Training Plan Creator Update: More Plans! Workout Details! I'm really considering going silver or gold so went in and created a plan to check it out. I designated my long bike on Sunday and filled in the rest of the week. When I generated the plan it starts with a long bike on Monday, Tuesday as recovery day instead of Monday as I designated, and no run details for the short run that I designated for Friday but appears on Saturday. This is in no way a gripe, just feedback from trying out what looks to be well worth a gold membership! |

Dan, Can you tell us exactly how you set it up so we can reproduce this: -Distance, Level, date range. -What days that you initially picked to go where. (example, 3 swim, 2 bike, 3 run and where you wanted the short, med, long sessions in the week) |

Elite 7783 PEI, Canada | Subject: RE: Custom Training Plan Creator Update: More Plans! Workout Details! I just ran through a quick test run to see what it would give me. When I got to the "View Plan" stage, it gave me all the workouts in metric units but the actual numbers were in miles. However, when I hover over the numbers, what pops up is the equivilant number in KMs. For example, my first bike ride shows as 14.8 KM/44 mins (to which I thought, well that's a little slow...) but when I hover over it, it pops up as 23.82 kms/44 mins (attached screenshot). Seems like it's trying to do the conversion to metric (as that's what my log is set to) but doesn't do it fully on the initial summary screen. This makes the print option no good for a metric person as it will try to print the miles numbers with KM as the units. Also, when I click on the Volume Graph button, I got an "Invalid XML data" message. Other than that, it seemed to build it exactly as I designed it. Looks good! Elite 2640 Ontario, Canada | Subject: RE: Custom Training Plan Creator Update: More Plans! Workout Details! The custom plan creator looks great, but I have one question. When I put in my personal info and choose the # or workouts per week the plan creator decides how much time/distance I should do each day. Is there a way that I can punch these number in myself? |

Champion 13323 | Subject: RE: Custom Training Plan Creator Update: More Plans! Workout Details! We don't offer the HIM/IM for free users due to safety reasons as people (at least beginners) need some workout details. That will require the premium membership when it's available. Though as an option as a premium member, you will be able to only import the workout minutes and use your own workouts but just need a volume template. keyone - 2010-10-23 7:56 AM I only see Sprint and Olympic, no HIM or Full distances. Champion 11641 Fairport, NY | Subject: RE: Custom Training Plan Creator Update: More Plans! Workout Details! Dan, the source of the problem is bolded below. On the Plan Setup tab, it states "The start day must match the Week Starts On day in your training log settings." You have this set to Sunday but the plan starts on October 25 which is a Monday. This requirement exists because we create the plans based on weekly volumes, and we want the "plan week" to match what you've defined as a week. We may have to put in some error checking that will show an information message and prevent a plan from being created in this case. danjstark - 2010-10-20 9:01 PM Sure - let me know if I missed anything below OS = win 7 and xp browser = chrome 1. Extreme Veteran 562 | Subject: RE: Custom Training Plan Creator Update: More Plans! Workout Details! Couple issues when creating a 12 week custom maintenance plan: 1) Surprised that target distances were race distances. Thought distances would be less for a maintenance plan. 2) My training plan settings has start date set to Sunday. The 12 week plan I developed started on Sunday and continued through Friday with Saturday as day off. When plan was generated, it was Monday through Saturday with Sunday off. |

Champion 10019 , Minnesota | Subject: RE: Custom Training Plan Creator Update: More Plans! Workout Details! So, I have tried this several diferent times yesterday and today and I keep having the same problem - a "medium run" disappears when creating a 4 run, 2 bike, 2 swim maintenance schedule. Each time it's been missing in the final step preview. I imported the plan once anyway, hoping it was a display issue only, but the workout was missing each week. It happened once yesterday too, but I must have realized in the final step because I didn't import it. I didn't gather many details then thinking I would try again today. I have screen shots, but am having computer issues with saving them. Let me know if you need them. |

Champion 13323 | Subject: RE: Custom Training Plan Creator Update: More Plans! Workout Details! ACV - Yeah, we are actually under for what we have in the free plans that have been used for years: http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/trainingplans-calendar.asp?printer=1&planid=23 Here is our philosophy on that: We do heavily favor over-volume distance for the sprints and oly's. This olympic plan assumes that you followed a sprint plan before that to build swim volume. Using our plans would have had you at the volume at the end of the sprint plan to start you into this oly plan. Also, we don't see the need to get you to the pool only to swim 5-10 minutes in the early stages. We want you ABSOLUTELY confident on race day that you have the endurance AND MORE to finish the swim...that will set you up for a great bike and run. If you still don't like that, you can 'adjust' the swim distance down to 900. With our over-volume calculations, this will hit 1600 on your long swim for peak week. Though we would at the minimum like to see your continuous medium swims to hit this, so you would modify the swim distance to 1100 to achieve a medium continuous swim of exactly race distance. acv - 2010-10-29 11:59 AM Really cool feature! Regular 69 Birmingham, AL | Subject: RE: Custom Training Plan Creator Update: More Plans! Workout Details! Hey guys, this is a really great tool and I'm super impressed with it so far. I had a similar issue with ACV, and maybe just because the race distances that I used. I know that HIM distance is not supported for free users, but I just wanted to see what happened, so I selected Oly from the drop down menu and set the distances to 1940yds for the swim, 56 mile bike, and 13.1 mile run. My average speeds were entered at 4:00 min/ 100 yds, 18mph, and 10:00 min/mi respectively. I went with a run/swim emphasis plan. All of the workouts look sensible accept for the swims. Week one shows the short swim as a 3100yd (1hr, 5min), medium 4200 yds (1hr, 47min), and long as 5300 yds (1hr, 49mins). Maybe since I had to select Oly as the race distance, the volume was inflated, but the durations of the workouts don't match the speeds I entered. At 4:00 min per 100yds, a 5300 yard swim would take me about 3.5 hours, not 1:49. Keep up the good work, I think this will be helpful for all. PC |

Champion 13323 | Subject: RE: Custom Training Plan Creator Update: More Plans! Workout Details! pc007, Yeah, it's not a good idea to put in an entirely different race distance with a race type selected. Oly's have more overvolume allowed than HIM's....so putting a HIM distance swim in an oly plan selection will put you way over-volume. The reason why you didn't see that as much in the bike and run is that over-volume is just not as much as it is for the swim. And are you sure you put in the swim pace correct...4min/100yards? That could be the problem right there. I tried to check your logs to verify your swim pace...but tsk, tsk... pc007 - 2010-10-31 11:04 PM Hey guys, this is a really great tool and I'm super impressed with it so far. Champion 11641 Fairport, NY | Subject: RE: Custom Training Plan Creator Update: More Plans! Workout Details! Zam92 and Dan - The problem was with the labeling of the days of the week. This has been corrected. This was an unacceptable mistake and I gave myself a very stern talking to about it. BikerGrrl and scottuf - This should be all set. The problem was that I'm not very bright and didn't fully test a change we made a couple weeks ago. When creating a plan with 4 runs, the 4th run is now a Short run (adding a 5th workout adds a medium run). I didn't update the draggable box thingies to reflect this, and the code downstream just ignored the runs you scheduled because it wasn't the kind of workout it expected. They are now the right type and therefor socially acceptable to the downstream code and their presence will be acknowledged. axteraa - The display now acknowledges that some people actually us kms to measure distance. The Volume Graph button no longer shouts into the void and is now actually hooked up to something. |
