did what all old people do after living a long time.

As much as I despise the scandal that brought his program down, as I sit here and conjur up what I think of Joe Paterno, it's not the scandal that defines him to me.  If a successful life is defined by helping more people than you hurt, his was a great one.

My guess is the victims of the child abuse he even admits to disregarding, that is, wishing he'd 'done more,' might disagree about his greatness.

The whole thing makes me sick.

People putting this man on pedestal is terrible, IMO.

The guy was a TERRIBLE human being...

RIP JoePa, you will be missed!!!!!

Certainly won't be by those that were molested by his inaction and their loved ones. The guy is a disgrace and it's sickening how many people will defend him merely because he won a lot of football games.

Hopefully, Sandusky follows suit, right quick.

I would much rather see Sandusky stand trial and have his azz land where it belongs

As to JoePa....he took what all he really knew about that mess to the grave, I am not convinced the grand jury ever got the full story from him.  As Kelsey Grammar says in "Down Periscope".....*May God have mercy on his soul*

I can understand why some folks would make the blanket statement, "He's a terrible human being..." but I think there's a difference between making terrible choices and being a terrible human being.

In my opinion, Joe Pa made terrible decisions in his last decade of life.  His almost inexplicable inaction was tragic.  I still believe (from what I know...which isn't much) that the good he did in life far outweighed the bad.

RIP.

x2  Not really sure "how with it" he was the last decade of his life. Sad to see him follow Bear Bryants path of being done coaching to death in a short span.

Dante wrote of a circle of Hell for those who did nothing in the face of evil...

He tarnished his legend beyond repair with his inaction.

Joe lost whatever credit I would have been willing to give him when he claimed in that interview earlier this month that he had never heard of rape involving a man. Sorry, but he’s too smart and too well educated for me to buy that. He’s also a devout Catholic, and there’s not a Catholic in the world that isn’t painfully aware of the existence of the exact same kind of abuse that took place under his watch.
