WWCOJ think of their congressman skinny dipping?

my congressman does far more upsetting things than skinny dip....

ok, serious answer.  is it illegal or funded by taxpayers somehow?  then i take issue with it, as i would with any other infraction.  i expect an elected official to not be held to some imaginary higher standard, but to at least obey our laws.  but that particular act?  meh.  it actually makes me giggle a little...

Maybe a dumb question, but if it was sponsored by this charity organization, was it in fact on the tax payers dime?

I don't see what the fuss is either but the comments online seem to be pretty one-sided around here. There were 20 other people involved, and his wife was even there. I'm not even sure what there is to "investigate"?

I don't know how I feel about this kind of thing in general...

I don't care if someone wants to do drugs, sex parties, hookers, skinny dip...  It's their life.

HOWEVER, I worry when people in the public eye does these things.  Not that they should live to a higher standard, BUT, I worry about anyone that is so scrutinized making decisions like that. 

For example, I just don't get how athletes that could make MILLIONS throw it all away smoking pot or bringing a gun to a club... 

Or politions sending Iphone pics of their penis...  For your average guy, fine.  They don't have so much to lose.  But those in the public eye?  Save if for AFTER you are out of the office or retired.  I think the more you have to lose, the more you need to be careful of what you do and it concerns me MORE about the lack of judgment, rather than the act itself, if that makes sense.

In the grand scheme of things I think, in general, in my head I say there are so many bigger things to worry about. But....

I do find it interesting that many folks have the "hey its your life" attitude.  I for one DO think that an elected official SHOULD be held to a higher standard.  Even these stupid little things are a reflection on all of us.  He did get elected to represent his congressional district, and he was on the vacation (oops I mean educational mission) in his elected capacity.

People use skinny-dipping in two ways:

 A - A euphemism for something inappropriate. Were there hookers and blow?

 B - Nonsexual swimming and/or sunbathing in a way that does not offend many in foreign countries, country swimming holes, or member of The Naturist Society or AANR.

I would give a token donation to anybody in category B and did not back-pedal.

Of course, look at my past 5k's and beaches on my running log to see my bias.

I have no problem with it.

Now if someone was cited for doing it last summer... I could understand how they would take exception.

Illegal doesn't necessarily mean inappropriate.

who determines what that standard is?  where is the line between ok behavior and bad?  i figured the law is a clear line.  abusing power or money given to you as an elected is a line.  skinny dipping?  doesn't really cross either of those.

As it turns out, she is a fine looking woman and I'd have no problems with her skinny dipping. I think I'd prefer it be her daughter, but I'm really okay with it.

As for the Congressman in question, he is exactly my age and DEFINITELY hot, so I think I'd encourage it!

There was some (very minor) brouhaha a few years back about one of the Canadian Prime Minister Candidates, Kim something or other (definitely hot, and a redhead too if I recall), because there was a picture floating around of her with one breast bared. We're talking top political post material here, and the Canucks were fairly laid back about it.

Is it illegal to swim naked in the Sea of Galilee? If so, that's a different matter. As a lawmaker, he should uphold the law in his own country, and definitely so in other people's countries, especially if he's specifically there as an official (if not in official capacity) to improve relations between them.
