Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Have been great if you were the DMV worker who sits on the stool behind the counter refusing to move along the line that extends out the door, or you were an underperforming teacher who is now guaranteed a raise and a job. Your futures are bright with the policies of the last 4 years. And, you have pensions and future benefits most of us will never see. As for the rest of the hard working Americans........................ |

That chart does not surprise me and IMO is not nearly as bad as overall job loss in the overall economy. There are 2% less Americans working than 4 years ago. We need 120k new jobs every month to keep up with population. At the rate of last report it would take 13 years to get to where we were before 2008 crash!!!! NOT GOOD ENOUGH |

You just described my wife to a tee. She was glad only to have 10 furlough days this year (on top of increased insurance costs and a pay cut a couple years ago). |

NOT GOOD ENOUGH You're ignoring the reality of the situation he stepped into. Of course the first 10 months, when the economy lost 3.8 Million jobs, are definitely his fault. He should have fixed everything by then. He is the president, he should tell all of the economic forces fighting against him to get out of the way. This is America! When the next 4 years continue to suck because of these same forces, are you going to blame Romney, should he win? |

I do research for a living, so every day. I was putting it in more "simple" terms without the nitty gritty. As for comparison of CEO's.....c'mon!!! How you compare a risk taker vs a common worker is beyond me! So here's what I see, common worker vs common worker: Gov employees lost fewer jobs and had greater job security during the downturn. They also got guaranteed raises that most states/cities/municipalities could not afford. They continue to get pensions which most pvt sector workers dont' get, and health care at a much lower cost than pvt sector workers have. Some of this is coming from my own personal survey's of people and not actual statistics, to be fair. But it's my job to get a feel for these things, and the feel has turned more into a stench lately. |

Finished it for 'ya. Funny how gov workers are now the evil empire. 5 or 10 years ago when the economy was booming most people would've laughed at you if you said you were going into government. |

Here's what I have a problem with, and understand it's not you personally! 1. I have a problem with poorly run government agencies. For example, managers in the EPA have recommended they could function with 1/2 the budget and 1/2 the personal. Instead, the EPA budget has increased and no personel adjustements made. For every scientist in the EPA there is 100's of support......why??? 2. I have a problem when poorly run agencies, and I'm including our education system here, continue to run poorly and continue to reap benefits. Here in Chicago, the teachers are guaranteed raises. Even if they don't perform. Merit is decided by tenure, not performance. A bad teacher gets the same raise as good one. Which is great.....if you're a bad teacher. A great incentive to be a good teacher.....don't you think? 3. Instead of fixing these problems and becoming more efficient, they want to raise taxes. Easier to take the money from somewhere else than to admit their own house isn't in order. 4. They paint these taxes as "getting the rich to do their part". Yeah, there are a lot of loop holes. Some of which do NEED to be closed. But in general we have a very unfair tax system. Almost half of our population actually doesn't pay ANY taxes. The top earners already pay the majority. 5. I care about the country and progress. This system is broken!!!.....PERIOD! We continue down the path we are on, we squash innovation. Opportunity for someone to advance class actually decreases. We stop being able to compete on World basis. Where does that leave us? |
