Elite 2729 Puyallup, WA | Subject: Weird pregnancy symptoms... So I'm (almost) 16 weeks in and have been surprised to read about all the "normal" pregnancy symptoms. Fast growing hair and nails - check; peeing frequently- double check; increased appetite (I didn't realize it could increase from what it already was!) - check; and the list goes on and on... But this is a new one and maybe TMI...but my pee smells very strong of the pee smell. Anyone else - weirdness?? |

Elite 4344 | Subject: RE: Weird pregnancy symptoms... The dark streak from the belly button down. True story about me. One Saturday when we were early on in marriage and childrearing, JWKMH was complaining that she was tired and thought she might be sick. We were "talking" on the couch and I saw the streak and said, "I know what is wrong. You're pregnant!" I was thrilled, J less so. Geezerette #1 was only a year old at the time. G2 came along about 7 or 8 months later. I have loved having the daughters around any time, all the time from the first thought of them. TW Edited by tech_geezer 2013-02-19 6:28 PM |

Master 3870 | Subject: RE: Weird pregnancy symptoms... tech_geezer - 2013-02-19 4:28 PM Sent my DH a text every afternoon for several weeks saying, "I need fish tacos!" as I passed a restaurant called Palapas. Finally he told me,"Fish tacos every day? You must be preggo. Gotta be it." I scoffed and didn't believe because didn't feel at all like first pregnancy had. He remained adamant, and the test a week later proved him right. The dark streak from the belly button down. True story about me. Master 2177 | Subject: RE: Weird pregnancy symptoms... I was very mean and hated everyone. My husband was afraid to take me places. I'm normally very polite and friendly. I also didn't like eating with my 3rd child. Right there is total weirdness. If eating was a sport, I could go pro. |

Austin, Texas or Jupiter, Florida | Subject: RE: Weird pregnancy symptoms... My wife craved canned pineapple with our son. No cravings of note with our daughter. She also ended up with pneumonia 7 months in with our son which sux because you can't take any strong meds when you're that far along. My son has moved from conception until now. He was a little kicker/stretcher in the womb (he'd stretch his feet up like he wanted out) and even now he wakes up in the morning with the blankets all over the place on the bed. I still think the best baby book is that week by week pregnancy book. It tells you nothing of how to deal with the kid once it's out, but it's really interesting. |

I'd be ok with that! :-) But I also realize that some women have "weird" symptoms that are the same, but for different genders. Like I had almost all day nausea and I read somewhere that women who had that - had a boy. Then I did a little more searching and found women who said it was the opposite. But I have to wait another month or so to find out |

Towards the end though the smell of burgers or bacon cooking would make me sick.

We have three girls, also. It is great. They are all grown and live far apart but go to extraordinary lengths to stay in touch with each other. They go on adventurous vacations with just the sisters and things like that. When we just had two daughters, JWKMH was ready to stop there but tried for a third on the chance this one might be a boy. It turned out to be a girl. She named her Sarah Thomas (Thomas is my given name) to emphasize that was the end of that string. |

She also completely lost her taste for Chinese food and it never really came back. We used to get takeout pretty often and when she was pregnant, the smell made her so nauseous she couldn't even stand to have it in the house. |

Stylist/nail techs have been telling women for years to take them if they want their hair and nails to grow faster. Maybe it's the vitamins and not the pregnancy |

Stylist/nail techs have been telling women for years to take them if they want their hair and nails to grow faster. Maybe it's the vitamins and not the pregnancy That may play into it but I read that it's all the extra growth hormones - I know I was very bad and got pregnant way sooner than I thought I would and didn't have a chance to even start taking the vitamins before ... 5.5 months preggo here with lovely nails and my hair dresser noticed I had thicker hair As for me - nothing too weird ... for a while I was always craving spicy food! You'd think the fear of heartburn would have stopped me but i was on a hunt for hot and sour soup for a while! hahaha |

TW I was the same - eating grilled chicken sandwiches dripping with mustard and extra pickles every freaking day yet NO CLUE why. Prior to this I was eating a salad with tuna on it but one day I took a bite of the tuna and spit it out (still didn't catch on). I've never been much of a tuna fan since giving birth. |

Like going from a size 8.5 to a 10. After giving birth I had to wear my slippers home from the hospital. I think that was due to retaining fluids but not sure about the other - bones expanding? I'm back to 8.5 now but it took about a year. Weird! |

Member 127 Leawood, Kansas | Subject: RE: Weird pregnancy symptoms... Extra-vivid dreams. Manual clumsiness--I was always fumbling things and smashing my fingers. Also had to get stitches in a finger for a bad cut with kid #2. Aversion to the smell and taste of coffee with kid #2, also. That was horrible. I wish you a safe and healthful pregnancy, no matter what weirdness you experience. It's fun to talk about at hen parties later on. I loved being pregnant, and my 2 sons are the light of my life. |

Expert 1379 Woodland, California | Subject: RE: Weird pregnancy symptoms... I'm in my 18th week, and one thing I've noticed is that my sense of smell is extremely sensitive. For example, a couple weeks ago my husband peeled an orange for a late-night snack, and even from the other end of the house the smell was so strong that it actually woke me up. Also, whenever someone in my office makes coffee, it smells like tuna to me. I've had a serious daily coffee habit since I was a teenager, and now I can't stand the stuff and haven't touched a drop in 3 months. |
