“What one man can do another can do” Anthony Hopkins in The Edge.
Recently tossed back at me by a good friend when discussing a 50 mile race. Months ago discussing a spring marathon with him he was very unsure about ramping distance and matching my pace. I explained I had been at it longer and he was ahead of where I was at the same stage. He wasn’t convinced so I simply said “LOOK what one man can do another can do”
He is much more fit now and running very well. Recently he mentioned trying an ultra; first attempt a 50 mile running race late next year. I am signed up for IMWI but still the idea of a 50 mile foot race sounds crazy, I was not convinced. He then blurts out the same quote I used on him several months ago. Fitting.
“Never give up, don’t ever give up” Coach Jimmy V just a few weeks before he died from cancer.
He was probably referring more to the fight with cancer and illness but I think it fits in any struggle. Certainly fits for those of us set on finishing an Ironman
“AMRAP” Or As Many Reps As Possible.
This is one my cross fit friends use, not one I would live by as an endurance athlete… Thought about it this morning doing pushups and sit-ups. I have a 20 mile run today, last one before a marathon attempt. Did I really want to do AMRAP? No but I still like it.
