Subject: RE: Do You Like RunningI used to hate running. One of the worst days of my life was when we had to do a 600 yd run in PE in sixth grade. Might as well have been a marathon. But over the years I have come to love running. I'm not very fast (and never will be), and don't have a classic runner's physique, but I love to run. I don't have many regrets in my life, but if I had to do it over again, in high school I would have traded playing football & wrestling for cross-country, swimming & track (I actually gave up competitive swimming for football when I started high school). I definitely was one who got caught up in the running boom of the '70's. I can still remember sitting in the dorm TV lounge at Purdue watching Frank Shorter win the Olympic marathon. And I still have Jim Fixx's The Complete Book of Running on the bookshelf at home. At age 60 my body is starting to creak a bit. I know I won't be able to run forever, but am thankful and appreciatlive of every morning that I can still get out the door in the morning. Mark |
