Extreme Veteran 694 Highlands Ranch, Colorado | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread Well I'll start. This will be my 3rd Ironman and am hoping for temps under 90 and an e. Coli free swim. I'm excited about the course and have heard great things about the race. I also don't know if it's Lou-ville or louie-ville? I'm following the 3rd times a charm as my first two were finishes but nothing to write home about. I'd love to have an 11 hour day. |

Member 326 | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread I am in as well. This will be IM number 7 for me and the second of 2016. I am doing IM Mont Tremblant on August 21st then IM Louisville on October 9th. 7 Weeks between them, I hope it is enough. I also have heard great things about this race so I wanted to see for myself. |

New user 37 | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread I'm in! It will be my first. I've done Boulder 70.3 twice, and am ready to make the leap to the full. Sounds like lots of miles and elevation gain on the bike will be required training this summer! Edited by gwsrnr 2015-12-17 4:41 PM |

261 | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread I'm in and it will be my first IM. I originally signed up for IMWI as my team usually sends 6-10 people... until next year, when I'm the only one who signed up. Fortunately I was able to transfer my entry to IMLou and the hotel was substantially cheaper so I ended up saving money despite the $50 transfer fee. I'm battling an IT band injury now so training has been sporadic, but the mojo is slowly coming back. I joined a friend's gym for a body comp/weight loss challenge starting the 4th to help shed the 15# (plus another 20 I already had)... Things got out of hand after my October marathon and subsequent couch potato/beer drinking phase. |

Multiple IM friends in my circle, so just took the plunge and signed up for the full. Used to live in Louisville and now just outside Boulder, CO. 10.25 months to ramp me up from Oly distance to 140.6! Good luck everyone. Oh, and happy new year! David |

Expert 2811 | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread I drove through Louisville last week. I made my family go downtown, so I could see where the race start and swim are (teen aged daughters reminded me I am a dork with that, thank God a I have supportive wife who will indulge my foolishness). I'm sure I really didn't learn much from my recon, but it really got me excited. I will put it down as an emotional boost more than anything. Edited by JBacarella 2016-01-03 12:44 PM |

The water temp was 69-70 this year which is pretty good. I'm pretty skinny and get cold and that's a borderline temp for sleeveless versus sleeved for me. It also seems to be a faster than average swim so that will help as well. |

Just a note that the air temperature this year was 47 degrees in the morning before the gun went off, so the water was actually quite a bit warmer than the air temp and felt great (to me). I wore a sleeveless wetsuit and it was perfect. My feet were "chilly" the entire time, but nothing that interfered with my race. |

I've seen 70s and that sounds great. Every full and half I've done has been 90+ degrees and I'm over it. |

I notified Louisville ironman email address and they stated they would contact the appropriate party. Anyone have experience with this and any recommendation of best place for my family with 7 and 4 year old to stay? Thanks, Kory |

Champion 7704 Williamston, Michigan | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread I am tentatively in. Knee surgery 10/14 kept me out of IMFL. Signed up for IMMD 2015. More knee surgery 5/2015.....tried to make a go of it but it wasn't happening so instead going to IMMD I had MORE knee surgery during which they could not fix it and needed to e staged so final surgery was 12/28 Because of the hurricaine at IMMD they gave us the option of signing up for a 2016 race 1/2 off and IMLOU was the latest AND I can drive to it so IMLOU it is. Still not sure if the knee will be a go but I am going to do my best to get to the starting line which will be a triumph in and of itself! |

78 | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread Good luck in your first IM! A few of us will be in the same boat for IMLOU this year. There are some decent places to stay downtown, but I'd look at tripadvisor or something like that to get a good idea... |

A lot of times you can get a spacious place where your family can spread out, cook your own meals in, etc, - for the same price or less than you would pay for multiple hotel rooms. Last year I had a 3-bed, 2.5-bath condo that was 3 blocks from the run course and within walking distance to 4th Street Live. Something to consider! |
