Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() My wife and daughter were giving me a hard time about my shoe lineup. Just wondering what other BTers got going on. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I voted for three but it is usually 2-3, depending on how lucky I've been at "scoring" shoes that I like. Usually one or two pairs of slightly heavier, more cushioned "training" type shoes, and one pair of lighter weight training/racing flats. (I usually wear the latter for speed work and long runs--the latter since they don't get super-heavy when I sweat in the humidity here.) I have real problems finding shoes I like, so sometimes it's as few as a single pair. If I get lucky, I try to do a three-pair rotation, preferably with three different models. Not sure of the research on it, but I like to think that makes the shortcomings and quirks of the shoes cancel each other out, and helps prevent overuse injuries. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hoka Stinson for long runs Mizuno Wave Inspire or Pegasus for medium runs (I'll ditch the Pegs when they wear out) Asics Noosa for racing, anything longer than OD Asics Hyper Speed for sprints and 5/10km races |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Mine are always Saucony. I just can't find a good fit in other brands (No, not sponsored by them. I wish!). Maybe as I have narrow heels and a wider forefoot, and that's the way both men's and women's tend to run in that brand. I LOVE Kinvara and would happily wear them full-time, but they are not very durable in the wet conditions here, plus I pretty much do all of my running here on pavement (50-75% on trails in Oregon), which wears them out more quickly. I tend to also get whatever mid-range neutral trainer feels comfortable--they're always discontinuing models I like. My running friend used to call all my shoes, "Saucony Troublemakers". Not sure there ever was such a shoe, but I tend to like the models with violent names like tornado, tempest, etc.! There is a certain feel to shoes that I like and it is not easy to find--fairly lightweight with a slightly flexible "bounce". |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() My trusty Asics - i may bring in a second pair when it gets close to my mileage threshold but that is pretty far down the line. Haven't found the need for more than one in 10 years of running ... |

Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I have been running on Nike Air Pegasus' for the last 4 years. I happened upon a sale of ugly colored ones at the Albertville Premium Outlet Nike store and picked up 6 pairs for $40 each. Have them all in rotation. I have one pair just for rainy, muddy days and that I wear in the winter. |

Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() 2 pairs in the rotation. Sometimes a 3rd if I have a pair just for the treadmill. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good point about the treadmill. Right now running outside is wonderful in Florida but later in the year it gets to be a sweatbath and I will start to do some more running on the treadmill. While I run on Hokas, I will have a set of more conventional shoes (I like zoot) for inside running. |

![]() | ![]() Two, but one pair gets 99% of my miles. My 99% of the time Asics, and then a pair of trail shoes I'll be using for an upcoming ultra. So really one, but add in a very specialized shoe for very minimized use. |

New user ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I had been doing 3- Asics, Saucony, and Altras. Once I became convinced that Altras were the best for my body, it became the only pair that I wear. |

Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I have two pair, exactly the same, purchased on the same day. I alternate them every run, but since I'm so consistent in my training, it has turned into having a pair for long runs and a pair for shorter/faster/interval runs. They feel different for sure. |

Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Only one pair for running, but I have 3 of the same pair in the closet right now, as they age, I just move them down. 1. Running 2. Everyday 3. Mowing the lawn 4. Throw em out |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Mine's more like: 1. Running 2. Everyday 3. Mowing the lawn 4. Dog chews the cr@p out of them 5. Throw em out |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() When I was "just a runner", I would rotate through 2-3 per cycle. Now, I use one pair as my primary trainer, and I have a pair of flats that I will wear for speed work and for my races (open and tri). |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() It's about 4... not counting race shoes or everyday shoes. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Usually 6-7, although I have a few more at the moment (but that are aging out, to get me back to normal). Two hokas (Clifton for tempo or short and the big one - bondi? - for long easy). Two Saucony (progrid for long, mirage 4 - I love these - for HM racing). Need to find a replacement for the mirages, just haven't looked. Zoot for tri of OD or sprint ASIC kayano for distance and support, tri noosa for speed or short tri's (retiring these) Newton 5-lug for speed or short tempo work Forget what else is active - maybe one more... Sadly, none are working great without socks (tri noosa and zoots included, even though designed for it). My old 4 lug newtons were the bomb (if foot breakers)! Matt |

![]() ![]() | ![]() I generally have two pair. My race shoes and then my training shoes. Like many others they rotate though their use cycle. 1) race only 2) after buying new race shoes they become my trainers until they start breaking down 3) mud run/ etc 4) daily wear mowing lawn or whatever 5) by this time they are so broken down that I'm almost ashamed of my frugalness (almost)?? 6) if they make it to this point I toss them |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I have 4 different pairs of trail runners, my good old broken in NB Leadville 3, my newer race NB Leadville v3, a more aggressively treaded shoe for snow, Saucony peregrine or much and a more minimal shoe but lugged for shorter stuff that could be mucky Inov-8 roclite 295 I have a pair of Asics noosa tri with speed laces for shorter triathlon stuff. I have 2 pairs of NB 860v5, one on it's way out, and a cushy new one for longer training runs. A pair of Saucony hurricane 16s, mostly for treadmill use atm, keeping them pretty clean. NB 1500 racing flat for road racing. Mizuno wave sayonara 2, a neutral shoe that is light as many racing flats, but a touch more cushioned for longer distances, I've been going more neutral over time, and it's feeling good. 10 pairs? I am eyeing a couple more though. |

2X - At one point in time I gathered up all the shoes in category #4 and there were twelve pair of Asics. I lined them all up took a photo of them all in a row then kept my top four pair and got rid of the rest. I currently have one pair of shoes that have been un-opned in the box for 4 months. Two pair that are newer shoes for running. Two pairs that are about at their limit for running, a pair or race shoes, and two pair of waling around shoes. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Adidas Hagio Adidas Supernova Glide 8 Asics Gel Nimbus 19 Asics Gel Nimbus 18 Brooks Puregrit 3 Brooks Launch 3 Hoka Challenger 2 Hoka Speed Instinct Mizuno Wave Catalyst Mizuno Wave Sayonara 2 Nike Free Run 5.0 Nike Streak New Balance 1400 v4 Salomon Speedcross 3 CS Salomon XR Mission Salomon Sonic Pro Saucony Triumph ISO 2 Saucony Triumph ISO 3 Skechers Strada That's just off the top of my head. There may be a few others. All are neutral. Some are high cushion for longer runs, some are basic trainers, some are racing flats, some are trail shoes for various conditions. In any given week I will probably wear 4-5 different shoes. Over the course of a month most of these will see use at least once. |
