Finally get myself to the office only to realize that I left my laptop at home, so I drive all the way back, the whole time *every* bit of traffic I get behind is barely doing the speed limit. Finally have all my stuff, stop for lunch and then drive in and now I have to burn a 1/2 day of time off just to make up the time.

All of that, and I've only had one cup of coffee so far.  Ugh.

Are you going to send any rain our way or are you keeping it all?  I road on the Wabash trace trail last night and some of the cracks are wide enough for mountain bike tires to get stuck in.  We need rain badly.

We have a dry week finally!!
In August SO FAR my city has received 10.98 inches of rain, which is less than an inch away from the August record of all time.
In July we got 7.65 inches (average 3.3)...

Very wet summer.

Maybe you should've had coffee at the start of your day, then none of this would've happened.

I've had an additional 20oz of coffee, I'm almost conscious now.

Yeah, but then folks are all like "omg, you've got a problem"

then I'm all like "no man, I can quit this sh*t any time I want, get off my back"

and they're like "I'm calling the po-po"

and then I'm sitting in a methadone clinic  trying to get Juan Valdez to stop offering me rides on his donkey - again.

I swear I brought my lunch to work today. I remember taking it out of the freezer this morning but it was nowhere to be found come lunch time. Even walked out to my car to see if I left it there? Nope. In the work mini-fridge? Nope. Fell off my desk? Nope.

I might be losing my mind.

Also there is cake today and I had a fierce moment of weakness and ate the frosting off an entire piece. Owning it in my nutritional count and it tasted gooooooood

There is some sort of cake or cupcake or gelato in my future for the next 4 days (birthday week and all) ... I will enjoy it all .. then flush the sugar out of my body next week!

With your workouts, sugar will leave your body screaming, "get me outta here!"

How is everyone doing?

4.5 weeks away from being a dad and about 8 weeks away from a half marathon.

I haven't trained much but the hammer is down now.

Same thing here. We have had a very wet and cool summer here. Lots of crops lost in Southern ontario. Hardly any cycling for me this year due to all the rain. It was finally dry while I was away scuba diving for a few weeks.

I manage to get 200 feet under water and the land finally stays dry go figure.

July we saw record rain fall of 19.68 inches Blowing away previous records

So I ran into something unusual.  On Sunday afternoon I flew out of Baltimore.  I went through security and noticed that for some reason there was a post-it note on my laptop.  I thought they were checking for porn or something so I waited a while and asked if there was an issue.  The lady said that the post-it must have fallen on by accident.  I had the laptop, the bag and my shoes all through so I packed it up and off to the resort town of Milwaukee.  I settled in and tried to get a jump on work.  I booted up the laptop and uh oh.. it was a totally different login.

I called BWI lost and found to report the mix up.  I then called and e-mailed TSA lost and found, leaving a vm on their answering service.

On Monday I called Dell with the service tag and explained the situation.  I know it's their policy not to give out the name of a person (worked there for 6 yrs) who owned the laptop but they were able to give me the company name.  Using the login name, which I assumed to be a first initial, last name, I was able to Google the lady.  I was able to contact the organization and give them the scope.  The laptops were overnighted and poof.. problem solved.  Yesterday, the TSA called me back to report that this happens several times a month.  He seemed amazed that I was able to find the owner and get things swapped so quickly.   I bit my tongue but here is the fun part; think up awesome replies to TSA.

My initial thought:

- Don't worry Matlock, I got this.  You can go back to patting down the elderly and fondling children.

Maybe TMI...

But as a kid, I had an eye issue and needed surgery - basically, lazy eye?  Around 5 yrs old.  Fixed me up all good and such.

Well, when I get really tired or stress/eye strain.  Sometimes is sneaks back.  I sort of thought in the last month I have been feeling it happen a lot.  Saw a couple pictures and one eye was doing it's own thing.  SUPER embarrassing and I felt self conscious this last month talking to people in case it might happen (even though my wife said she never noticed).

Went to the eye doc yesterday and talked about it and got my eyes check.  Turns out it's sort of in my head.  I have super hero vision in my left (20/10 - 20/15) and my right eye (the drifter) is 20/25.  So my brain tends to rely on my eagle eye when fatigued.

Their suggestion?  Get more rest!  Also do some eye exercises like use only my right eye while watching TV or playing video games.

Seriously, three of the best cures EVER!  Games, TV, and rest.  "Sorry hon, I have to play madden 14 tonight for 2 hours then take a nap.  Doctors orders".

There is no direct upgrade/migration path; it is a clean install... but after your initial adjustment period I think that you'll find Win7 to be FAR superior in just about every way.   Granted, I made the switch a long time ago, but there is absolutely nothing about XP that I miss.

Training our bodies to work efficiently in Zone 2 will help us keep our HR and pace even throughout an Ironman. This theory would hold true for the bike and run portion of an Ironman race.
