As far as pedals go, what I always suggest is going to your LBS and have them put your bike on a trainer and try on a few different types.  I prefer speedplay, you can adjust them to make them easier to clip into, speedplay zero's are pretty adjustable.

We have a Welsh Corgi, she is 14 or so and has a bad hip so she drags the back end around.  I am sure we have some pic's around somewhere.

Here is my baby:

WOW....you must be fast to have a bike with that much RED on it.

Awesome ride.

I was going to comment that "Your seat is to high."  But we have already had one CoJ reference on this page.

Steve

Yes it is TRUE....I have screwed up the Time-Space Continuum..........I actually went SWIMMING today.

Even more unusual...I enjoyed it.

First time back in the water since Augusta HIM in late Sept.  Did 1000 in sets of 100 with about 20-30 sec. rest between.  No endurance but that is to be expected.  I was very pleased.

Steve: Great to see your back in the pool, and you enjoyed it!

I need to take new bike porn pics as I have had my bike re-fitted and I have added new behind the seat hydration.

And although this happened pages ago, don't be pickin' on John's typos! I am worse (Darn big fingers!)

Oh yeah this AM's run was great for some reason. Ran 4.1 miles in 35 minutes. Kept a 22-24 stride/15 second pace. It was like butter. Such a change from my previous two long runs. Maybe things are improving!

Here are some photos of my pink road bike and my wonderful yellow tri bike. Photos don't quite do her justice but the pink accessories are very bright in person.

Nice looking TTX.  My wife has a QR Chiquilo, grey and pink, it is fitting for her, now if I could just get her to let me try and fit her a bit better, sometimes you have to pick your battles...

Oooh, nice, Tracy! And you have the pink tires! I told a friend I wanted pink tires... I guess I'll have to plan ahead when I need to replace them and see if the tires I like come in pink.

Love the yellow bike too!

I covet the tri bikes. I secretly really really want one, but just don't feel justified buying one at this point. I love doing tris, but my life is in a spot right now where I can focus on them more than I may be able to in the next year or two (I really want to go back to work/school). I figure I'm a "one and done" IM person (my running partner with whom I swam in college -- so she knows me well) thinks otherwise. So time will tell... Until then, I'll just envy everyone else's bikes and tell myself "Maybe I'd keep up better if I had a better bike." (Even though I totally believe in the engine over the bike!!) Wink

Some good news tonight, no my darn cough is still not gone... but

1 - Confirmed with Saris that the hub is not upgraded to ANT+, good thing because the updater is on its way. I got my refund from the guy I purchased it from, to cover the cost of the update plus a bit for the hassle. The Saris rep told me tonight that the 2.4 after being upgrade will have the Time in Zones function and Peak Power based on time intervals (2 functions of the PRO+ I was intrigued with) I did not realize these would be available after the upgrade. It basically makes the hub an SL+ model now! Sweetness.

2 - The exercise competition the people at work started... Week 1 totals are in (mind you i was sick and missed 3 days of workouts) and I still am in first place with something around 4500 calories, second place was around 3200. The good part is that I have some good base and then build weeks during the course of this competition which should aid nicely for me.

A negative note, last night I had adjusted my Adamo saddle for my ride by tilting it up a bit more since it was on a negative angle.  That did not work so well.  I am about ready to throw this thing out the window.  I think a Cobb is my next step.  My biggest complaint with the Cervelo seat post is the crappy method of mounting a seat and adjusting the angle.

Tracy...love the pink.  I keep saying I'm going to send my bike to get a custom paint job and add a little color to my baby but I keep finding more toys to buy instead.  Speaking of which I have to pick up my bike from getting a major tune up and a new wireless cateye complete with cadence and HR.  Time for me go back to being anal about my numbers.

Swam with hubby tonight at his natatorium.  They only have fitness swim from 8:15pm-9:15pm. OMG... that will not be happening very often.  I am whipped.  Definitely don't like swimming on empty.  I was happy that I didn't feel any nerve pain in my shoulder that I've felt the last couple of days.  I think I'm going to have to take it easy in yoga.  I have a feeling I over did it last week.

Hope everyone is doing well.

I have a kindle but at this point I would hang on a week to see what apple announces next week. I think it will be like if you merged a kindle with an iphone. Next Gen personal media device. Announcement is scheduled for next Tuesday I believe.

tahrens - 2010-01-19 2:15 PM

Can I ask a TOTALLY NON-TRI related question?  Do any of you own a Kindle?   I am a huge reader and most of my bookclub now has one.  They are very appealing but I think I would miss actually holding books.  I love having a book collection.  Anyone????

I have a pink bike too.
I've added a pink saddle, saddle bag and pink cages after I took the photo.
I think I'll do pink bar tape next time it needs a change.

My bike became an instrument of pain this evening...  20 minute critical power test - scraping to hold on to the clock rolled past 19:59 - result:  251watts...  Next up - how brutal can it get for 5 minutes on the CP5 test day after tomorrow...

Followed up the CP20 with a short run - 1 mile - it hurt - next time no run after a CP20....

Nice wattage! And adding on that run afterward too... very impressive. The last thing I want to do after a CP20 is run. Good work!

Loving the bike photos!  My bike is black, red, and white, hence the name Roulette. At the moment, one side of the handle bar is white, the other is red. I really screwed up with the Handlebar tap, but never got the chance to fix it, so I left it like it is, and i think it looks cool!  IF I had to pick any color bike, it would be PURPLE! Of course, none of this exists except Trek Madone...and being a student and not working, I don't have money. :-(  Tri bikes are not in my future, only and ONLY IF, I will consistently do triathlons before even considering getting one.

Kindle - I actually was considering getting the Nook because you can put ANY type of PDF and ANY type of eBooks...you're not restricted with only buying from B&N like you are with Kindle buying only from Amazon.  If Amazon ever ever goes down, you're screwed and stuck with the ebooks you got on your Kindle, you can't use anything else.

My first eBook for Nook was going to be "The Stand", Stephen King...since I knew it was a heafty volume...but it's $40 for the ebook...wth?! I got it for 8 bucks, paperback, so I didn't get it.  I much rather have half of my book collection cut to half (and I contribute my 400+ books, including the HEAVY full volume special Edition Calvin and Hobbes), for the 9100lbs that we had to move from NJ to LV. If I cut my books in half, and donate whatever I have and have a Kindle/ebook version instead, I'll be happy. But...now I'm not too sure because I am not a heavy reader.   But I know people have said that it totally rocks. Yes, there's many books that's not available, but majority of the new books are (I think). I have iTouch, so the Kindle reader and B&N eReader is free. Not sure if I buy books, and will it transfer it over to Kindle. I've heard some bad things about Kindle, especially when upgrading. Read all the reviews...including the bad ones.

wish i was.  looks like robert is gonna tow me around for a 8 mile run on saturday.  then a scheduled 55 mile ride on sunday.  looks to be sunny and 65.  having the ms 150 two weeks before lone star is nice.  from here on there will be at least one supported long ride every weekend.

Have a group question - What kind of running shoes do you wear?  I am currently wearing some Mizuno Wave Elixir's for training and Saucony Fastwitch for races.  I am considering making a switch.  I need a neutral shoe with a little support.  My birthday is coming up in a couple weeks and I know I am getting another pair of shoes from my parents and I already have a gc for my running shop to use.

I think I read while skimming the last ten pages yesterday, someone asked about bike shoes.  I use the Specialized Trivents and love them.  Tri specific, two straps, drain for water, and no socks needed.  A+

Have heard lots of good things about the Zoots. Probably going to pick up a pair when I hit Texas in a few months. Alot cheaper in the US.
