Is anyone interested in this event?
Possibly interested! Glamping! Robin - since you'll be in DC, we can have a mini-Manatee meetup! I'll be taking a fair amount of time off in November, so won't be able to make Ragnar ![]() ![]() |

Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Proof of life post. It's December. I teach band and orchestra. Therefore it's concert season. I need a nap. And I never want to hear Christmas music again. (we've been learning our music since the beginning of October.) |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Noted.....I may have to start worrying about such things in another month or so. (Already IS 23 or below most mornings here and "feels like" colder, but not doing long enough runs to warrant bringing along "nutrition" yet. February HIM (thank goodness, in NZ summer) though so like it or not I am going to have to brave the elements for maybe 2 hours at a time in January.) Gu is also problematic in below-freezing temps--on a couple of my last long pre-IM runs I managed to get the zipper of the "gu pocket" on my hydration belt frozen shut with leaking gu from an unfinished packet. A good solution is a tri or run top with a secure pocket under the outer layers and close to your body heat. Or, failing all else, in the bra. Then there's Haribo, gummy bears and the like from Japan. I supposed they're like Cliff Blocks but probably even less healthy? One year at Vietnam 70.3, a Japanese competitor was giggling uncontrollably at bike pickup in transition after the race. When I asked her what was so funny, she said, "Haribo glue!" then proceeded to pick up her bike, holding it only by the leftover Haribo that were now hopelessly glued to the bottom of her bento box. Probably not the best choice for 90-100 degree weather. |

Probably not the best choice for 90-100 degree weather. I have found that the sour Haribo don't stick together quite so badly, likely due to the sour powder on the outside. They do turn into little rocks in cold temperatures though. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Happy Monday everyone! I ran my 1st "official" standalone half marathon and posted a 1:33. I'm sure that's slow for some of you and fast for others but I was very happy. When I see others are running ~1:10's after insanely fast swim/bikes I wonder how it's possible. |
