Great job to you guys in Miami, impressive for all 3 of you.

I am now a proud owner of a Powertap and hopefully today I will hit 10K of swimming this week!!  Get to test on the bike next week and see where I am at with FTP using real power and not TR virtual power...should be humbling!!

Plan this winter is swim and bike ALOT, and maintain run with fewer but more intense run sessions.

I feel like we might be twins or something.... My text editor also wasn't working for a while. I found that if I took off the rich text and went to plain text only, it would work. Weird, but maybe I should check if I go back if it will start working now. I also hit 10k of swimming this week with this morning's workout. Nice work And I also recently switched from Virtual Power to real power. My suggestion for you would be to do your power test with Virtual Power, but with actual power recording on your head unit. For me, at least, my Virtual Power was 20-25W higher than my actual power, so I would have absolutely bonked if I went out and tried to chase that number on my power meter. After I got it all set up, I switched from Virtual Power to real power on TR (and reset all my bests). And finally, I plan to do a lot of winter swim and bike training....but no intense runs. Not yet....just getting back into running. So I guess we're not quite twins

I have been playing with the PM for the past week and getting an idea of numbers.  I am actually finding similar results, real power is about 20-25W lower than virtual power.  I am planning to test next week..that should be fun .

BTW I got kicked out of the pool...so only made 9900 this week!!

Respect! I thought I was doing well for myself. That is crazy. They probably replaced it because they thought she might be crazy and/or dangerous. That is ridiculous. My Fluid2 has developed a little groove but I don't think I ride the trainer enough to take it to that level.

I'm also glad I'm not the only one who doesn't change my tire all the time and will just let it rip on the Conti GP4000s too! I like this woman.

I actually like 70.3 distance quite a bit. Working my way back to that after a couple years of slacking on the tri front. Finding it very hard to balance the training compared to what a couple years ago (don't we all).

Chris, I think you'll be happier long-term with the approach you are taking.

Back from the cruise (well almost - one more flight).

Anyone have any good weight loss tips?

LOL...I came here with the idea of asking if anyone wanted to do a weight loss accountability challenge. I put on about 4-5 pounds since Kona which is fine, but time to start buckling down with the Holiday season coming up. Not really trying to see who can lose the most weight, but just post a goal and check in every week to keep yourself honest.

1. That trainer pic is insane!

2. Chris, your race schedule looks amazing.  I'm seriously jealous of that.

3. Gels and water are my staple training and racing diet.  I usually mix Honey Stinger (Pomegranite Acai) gels into water bottles.  Usually 2-3 gels/bottle.  This works well on the bike but I tend to be sick of it by the run for a 70.3 so I need to come up with a better strategy there.  For both Mont Tremblant and Miami I didn't use much of my mixture on the run and instead switched to coke.  Maybe I should just put flat coke in my fuel belt...

Yup, I'm in.  I think 161/162 lbs is a good number for me - I've dipped below that to 160 a couple of times and I always seem to yoyo off it to 165.  If I stay above it I seem to be ok if I behave...

I don't know what exactly I am right now but I'm guessing 5-7 lbs over that right now.

I'm shooting to get back under 150 by the end of the year. 148ish range which is the lightest I was this year. I know I can go lower just based on how I look in the mirror, but one step at a time. Weight is going to be a much bigger issue for me considering the uphill nature of some of the races I'm targeting for 2014.

As part of a new plan for training this year, I went out and registered for a swim meet. 200m, 400m and 800m, Long course.

Should be interesting.

I've been planning on it (in my head) but it's getting to the point in time where I need to actually make plans for it if I am going to.

Good luck in the races, they can be lots of fun!  There is an outside chance that I will be in Montreal that weekend but if I am I will be spending all of Saturday at work.

I am.  Prior to this year's IM M-T I took advantage of the "race ready" package that went on sale on Thurs before the race where you could enter the 70.3 and full distance races for 2014 at the same time.  So, if I qualify for the 70.3 Worlds (I've qualified 2x before but ended up eating the entry fee and not racing both times) I potentially could be racing that course 3x next year....and I've already got condo reservations for all 3 :-)

Florida seems to be very fast today. Starky rode 4:02:17, finished in ~7:55:20, and didn't win. Not familiar with the guy who did. Took the lead ~24.5 on the run.

2:37:29 marathon for the winner.  Sick.

The off-season is the best time to fine tune your skills and prepare yourself for the next season. It is also time for you to gain some strength and get a little rest after a long season of training.

If you develop a strategy for the off-season, you can go into the next season stronger than you ended the past season.
