Interestingly, it also implicates the agent who claims innocence No doubt. This is simply another reason that the whole thing sickens me. There is too much money involved in the whole mess. I am so ready for something to change after watching the mess that was in baseball some years back, the cycling mess, and what not. ETA: Think of this too. You come from an economically blighted area. You own little to nothing. You have a talent to perform some sporting activity and are in the top 1% in the world in that activity. What will it take to get to the top .01%? What is it worth to do so? I am nearly to the point of leveling the playing field with the most simple answer possible. Seattle | Subject: RE: Mad Manatee Mentors v.2 thr.3 CLOSED (Poptart/pet pic bribes considered) Originally posted by brigby1 A Walk In The Woods by Bill Bryson was a fun one for the Appalachian Trail. I haven't really hiked it, just been up to Mount Washington area where it goes right by. Hikes up to the top there will average 1,000 ft of ascending per mile, so yeah, it can be tough. Definitely still hiking though, not actually climbing things. The NE area really goes with "the shortest distance between two points is a straight line" philosophy. No switchbacks anywhere. I did ok with it, but can be hard for others. Oooh yes! I really enjoyed that book as well. |

Master 1970 Somewhere on the Tennessee River | Subject: RE: Mad Manatee Mentors v.2 thr.3 CLOSED (Poptart/pet pic bribes considered) For the first time since my century ride I was able to get in a decent workout this morning. Have had a bad sinus condition for the last two weeks. It's hard to get in a good workout if one is constantly hacking up phlegm. Don't know if it was from the rag weed outbreak or the spray defoliant used for the cotton harvest. No matter as I seem to be at the end of the worst part. We've had our first frost so the pollen problem is no more. Most of the cotton crop is at the gin so I don't expect to be affected by the defoliate. The weather is lovely now. I can much better deal with the cold than I can the heat. Used to be unaffected by either.
I have missed my daily dose of endorphins.

Master 3870 | Subject: RE: Mad Manatee Mentors v.2 thr.3 CLOSED (Poptart/pet pic bribes considered) Received a letter from the doc office saying I hadn't checked on my xray results (I tried, but system said it had no record?), and the radiologist couldn't find "any evidence of pathology". Ummmm, ok. So why can't I walk/run without pain? And why does my toe move in odd ways? Jason laughed when I read it to him, "Your toe is broken whether they can see it or not." Even without "evidence", I'm treating like it's broken b/c the darn thing hurts. I've been taking the kids for short rides. Makenna is off her training wheels for good (as many of you have seen and our rides are getting faster. Only issue we have is that she can't get started on her own yet. Luckily, the dismounts are becoming less frequent. Job stuff has resumed now that IMAZ training is "done". It was all put on hold for the past few months. A couple of phone interviews this week, so keeping fingers crossed.

Have you tried buddy taping the toes? Put a small piece of gauze between hurt toe and the one next to it then tape them together for support. Won't take away the pain enough to attempt to do the crazy train training, but at least you could walk from A to B without limping. |

Veteran 2441 Western Australia | Subject: RE: Mad Manatee Mentors v.2 thr.3 CLOSED (Poptart/pet pic bribes considered) Good race this weekend. Wasn't really happy with my run (let's call it a shuffle). ButI beat my goal time by nearly 15 minutes caused I rocked the bike. It was a hot day yesterday - we hit 100, out first for the summer, I was very glad I wasn't doing the local HIM. |

I'm really glad you were able to get out - I don't know what it is, but Tony's allergies have been horrible since getting to Austin, and there have been a few days when his handy dandy app showing the levels of allergens/mold affecting people have shown levels off the charts. Enjoy the endorphins! |

Seattle | Subject: RE: Mad Manatee Mentors v.2 thr.3 CLOSED (Poptart/pet pic bribes considered) I just ran the most volume that I have in a week in a LONG time (94 miles.) With quality, too. My marathon plan may be a total wreck but I am starting to get fit at least! I did a double whammy workout on Saturday wtih an AM workout with my team then drove out to the mountains and ran up to the top of Granite Mountain. There is a fire lookout up there and 360 degree views on the Cascades including Mt. Rainier, Mt. Adams (the one I climbed) Glacier Peak and Mt. Baker. I got super lucky with a sunny fall day and was down to my sports bra and shorts on the run up (November, really?????)

It was perfect weather, I had friends to share the day and experience with, it was a very unique opportunity, and I managed to set a new 10K PR! We'll just let the fact that this is only the 2nd standalone 10K I've ever done slide by... Beat my previous best by almost 3 minutes = happy! |
