Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() fattyfatfat - 2010-02-01 4:47 PM Jeepguy2358 - 2010-02-01 3:58 PM Ok, I need some help here. I just got off the most grueling and frustrating trainer ride ever. I got home from my bike fit, ate a little lunch, and even took a 30 min nap. Once I woke up, I was a little out of it, but was eager to try out my "new" bike. After 10 minutes of constantly moving around my upper and lower body trying to get comfortable, I give up and just say, "well, I just have to let my body adjust to the correct position". After 25 minutes, I get so frustrated, I quit. My arms are totally fatigued, I can see my calves working like crazy (not supposed to happen), and I can't even get my butt in a comforatable spot! After a 5 minute break to settle down and relax, I convince myself to get back on the bike and finish my hour ride. I make it 45 before I had enough. I have never actually cursed while riding the trainer before. So, the point of my story - anyone want a 2008 Specialized Transition? At this point, you can have it. This is so frustrating. I am taking time off from my running to let my achilles stop hurting, my swim yesterday was terrible, and now I hate my bike. Looks like it might be back to hockey. Seriously, is it supposed to feel completely foreign after a fit? give the guy a call and explain what you're explaining here. find out what he thinks. sage advice from John there... I would try again tomorrow with the same kit as when you got fit... |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() My plan is to give it a week or four trainer rides. I am going write down exactly everything that doesn't feel comfortable from today on and give him a call next week and make some adjustments if needed. Sorry about the tantrum. I just used to love my bike! Tony - I was expecting HTFU buttercup from Suzy not you! ![]() |

When I talked to my coach we talked about flexbility limiters and the shorter the distance you plan on doing the closer to those limiters you can be. Doing a full IM would mean unless you were pretty flexible that you be somewhat more slack to make sure you are comfortable for a full 112 miles. |

We talked about where I am currently (training, flexibility, strength, etc) and where I plan to be come race day. We are going to go slightly more aggressive as we get closer. Not totally as aero as possible, because of the comfort factor when riding 112 miles, but as close as we can get. |

Any time you tweak anything even if only a smidge you are bound to feel different. I heed one bit of advice for you tomorrow. Go into it with an open mind. You are already feeling negative about this, and you are going to be uber sensitve tomorrow. It takes some getting used to. Give tomorrow a shot WITH AN OPEN MIND (and a couple other rides) let the guy at the shop know that you are miserable on your bike. |

It is usually Birdy, Kim, Kona and a J&C! Nice stuff. ![]() Chris--for what it is worth, I have had my bike tweaked a few times, often because of trying to manage injuries. I also think those changes can feel different on a trainer because we are often stuck in one position. It does take a while to get used to the change and sometimes you do just have to suck it up for a while.....there I said it! with caring of course ![]() |

How small?? There are some amazing hikes around here that are great for kids!! I get mine out every summer, trying to get them on bigger and better hikes each year. I LOVE hiking with the kids cuz it tuckers 'em out big-time. The key to success is snacks -- lots of 'em, and really good ones. |

Soon to be 6yrs. old and 3 1/2 yrs. old. I was more amused at the thought of Steve w/ 2 little kids in the wilderness. Although we have tried to get them out a little bit since there is a nice park by our house w/ trails but we are still at the stop and look at every leaf stage of hiking. :-) |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() January's Totals: Numbers are low but I have excuses all set. First, the hubby has started his 1/2 IM training so I've taken over a lot of kid duties to give him time. Second: I've been focusing on core and flexibility - even if it wasn't always logged on BT. That being said I've lost 1/2 and inch off my waist, lost 3 lbs, gained 2 inches of flexibility back that I lost due to the injury; and have made monster improvments on my core strength. I am very pleased with January even if my numbers are low. It looks like people have very successful Januarys, congratulations to all. I am very proud. Edited by tahrens 2010-02-02 10:45 AM |
