Ugh one more day of vacation left then time to start driving home, not looking forward to the 15 or so hour drive on Saturday.  My wife got taken down in the ski patrol carts today.  She got twisted up and they said it looks like a medial miniscus injury.  Told her to check in with an ortho in a week to check mobility and go from there.  That could put a cramp in her tri schedule this year, and cut a day off her ski vacation.

My day tomorrow will hopefully consist of some tree runs and back country stuff.

Ready to be back this weekend, hope to hop back in to training quickly.  I took my GPS along tonight and one of our runs was just under 2 miles tonight and we averaged 30 MPH.  I will hopefully upload after a bit and check max speed etc.

Send some of that warmth back this way.

Back to work, sort of today.

Mainly so I can get a swim in.

Michelle good luck on the race.

Doug: hope the run Monday goes well for you. Given the distances you're running I would think you would be tired. You'll come out of theat funk soon. Once you get racing and see the results of all your hard work.

Suzy have a great time racing the sharks.

I finally broke down and bought a trainer yesterday. Elite fluid trainer. Haven't told my wife yet though.

Same one I bought. Elite fluid 2? Cyclops? Its a gooder. Just need to hook it up and pedal. works better that way.

Oh Yeah  I forgot about that part. It is still sitting at the back door patiently waiting to be hooked up.  The model I got was the Elite ALU Fluid A frame.

Steve good luck on the surgery. I'm sure it will all come out great. Give it time to heal properly too. I think most of us have expereince trying to come backtoo sonn from an injury only to put us out for a longer period when it comes back to haunt us.

Bummer about your wife's injury.  I guess your knee is OK after your fall a day or so ago?  Enjoy your last day and safe travels home.

Well, the south has officially shut down today, as we are expecting a couple inches of SNOW around lunchtime.  The scools are already out, the university is closed, and there is no bread or milk left on any of the shelves.  Everyone is stocked up just in case it doesn't all melt by tomorrow afternoon in the forecasted 50 degree high of tomorrow.  I am starting to panic!

I have had a good week of workouts...increasing my volume a bit.  Feeling good, today is going to be an off day...I mean it is snowing for crying out loud.  Going to shoot for a bike tomorrow, but may have to resort to the trainer which will be about 50 minutes if I can stand it that long.

It's snowing againFrown.  At least we're only supposed to get about 1/2" today although we may get more on Sunday.

On a good note - I had a bit of a breakthrough at the pool this morning.  I've never been able to do more than 50m without stopping, and today I did 75m twice!  I've started a program that has me doing drills one day a week, endurance one day and a combo on the 3rd day.  Today was the endurance day.  Since I'm only starting out, it wasn't a long swim, but endurance has to start somewhere, right?  If I can stick to this program, I should be more than ready by May.

Suzie - have fun in Hawaii!

Michelle - good luck with your race.

Steve - hope the surgery goes well.

Have a great weekend!

LOL Barry!  I used to live in southern VA and it was the same way.  Schools would close with even the hint of snow and there would be a mad dash on bread, milk and eggs.  Usually, the snow was melted by noon the next day!

Since I seem to have landed in the black hole of training, I'll brag on my hubby for a while.  He is 2 weeks into his coach's plan for his first 1/2IM and is loving every minute of it.  He ran 8 miles this morning in 30 degree weather and came in afterwards with a smile on his face.  Now he can officially kick my butt in all 3 disciplines.

Janet - congratulations on the swimming. You have been working on your swimming for a long time.  Glad to see it is coming together for you.  Keep up the hard work.

Michelle - go get 'em!

Steve - your attitude is inspiring.  Way to stay positive.  Don't push the recovery too fast though.  Augusta is a long way off.  WE ALL WANT TO SEE YOU THERE RACING!!!

Yep, we ended up with a foot of snow here in Dallas yesterday.  You would have think the Four Horseman of the Apocolypse were riding through town.  What is it about the snow that sucks brains cells out of people?

I will be going to the gym to hit the TM at lunch, as it is the wet goopy kinda snow...  Then we will be headed for Houston for fun filled day of educational conference-ing tomorrow!

we are.  should be cool.  i hear vancouver is an awesome city?  eh?

jarrett and i are thinking about london in 2012.  good thing is the marathon and triathlon are free events.  bad news is the price of tickets for the other events.  WOW!  $$$$$.  and london is not a cheap city by any stretch.  awesome beer though!

We wives don't like being beaten by husbands, so tread lightly, fellas.

And yeah, Vancouver is a very awesome city. Love it. Wish we were hitting some events, but it is just too hard to finagle. Feeling very sad about the luge crash...

Oh, wow, I feel an overwhelming sense of sadness right now.  These athletes train so hard...these high speed sports require so much courage and they are just fearless!  Saying a prayer at my desk.     Hope the race committees for the various sports take heed and try to listen to reason...delaying by a day or two if weather is too crazy or course needs attending to...

On a lighter note... the red text doesn't sound like how I meant it to sound. I should have added an "in races" or something qualifier. Not implying there is any domestic violence going on in these parts.

Really looking forward to a big bowl of popcorn and opening ceremonies with the fam. I know the luge crash will be discussed at length, so am trying to figure out how to explain it to the kids. My daughter will be very disturbed, I know... *sigh*

Coverage has been crazy up here about it. Not sure if you guys saw the actual video footage, but it is crazy. Like gross, freaky crazy. Seeing him do the things he did. Media is really talking about. Should they be showing the run, knowing that he passed on now. Did hear yesterday, someone saw this course is crazy fast...but as well this guy was 21 yrs old. Sounded like he was pretty new at the sport too.

And Vancouver is a great city. Where I did my 1st tri last year. Pretty expensive city too.
Heard scalpers were asking $900/ticket for the ceremonies tonight for nose-bleed seats.

Honestly, I would love it if my husband beat me in a tri or a running race.  It would mean he was out there competiting and having fun.  It isn't his thing and I have learned to accept that, but appreciate the fact you have a spouse that loves the same things you do.

Really sad to see the death at the Oly's.  I don't know all the details, but what an awful thing for he and his family.
