I think he and the kids will be my 'finish line' cheer squad down by the waterfront here in the city! The actual nice thing about doing my own thing is that i can take a bathroom break and stop the clock! lol! I always laugh to myself when people say they feel their real time at a race is something other than their chip time because of a bathroom break - that's not the way it works but for virtual ... it sure does work that way - at least for me. In this scenario. You can make your own rules. |

Master 7712 Orlando | Subject: RE: Racing Manatees - Better Together in 2022 Sitting in my living room, watching the news about Ukraine while planning my weekend of running and cycling, etc. and I can't believe how lucky I am to not be there . But I also feel the need to help in some small way. So, I jumped on the "rent" an Airbnb in Ukraine and send a note saying I'm not coming, this is to help train. Places are as inexpensive as $18/night and I've read airbnb has waived its fees. It's hard to believe such a small gesture can mean so much to the host |

I finished the Marathon in 2:54:06 which was good enough for 9th overall and 1st place overall masters. That was a 20 minute PR for me. If I never PR again I can die a happy man. Next up for me is the Duathlon Nationals In Arlington, Texas in eight (8) weeks. It looks like the recommendation is a lot of swimming this week and some light cycling and to add running back to the schedule in a week or two or three. 8 weeks seems like a short window to race again after a Marathon but I am feeling great so I will be back to it soon enough and with some good recover to start things out with. 5-6 weeks is totally enough time to train for a 2 hour race right? :-) Edited by BlueBoy26 2022-03-06 9:26 PM |

I would just like to point out that I joined BT in 2015 when I was training for my first 70.3 Triathlon. I finished 7th out of 8 guys in my age group at that 70.3 race with a time that was over 7hrs. Since then, the gains have been small from year to year but with consistency, I have come a long way. |

One of the ladies on the Kiwami Race Team has been 4th place in her AG at Duathlon Worlds the past two years. She placed AG 2nd at Nationals last year and is preparing to complete at Duathlon Nationals in Romania this year with a goal to make top three. She got me hooked up with insider information on the Duathlon Nationals before USAT even announced the event and got me discount codes for registration to where I was signed up the day registration opened (also before the event was announced). I got to do a bike ride and run with her last week at Team Camp in Tempe, AZ. So I am getting a lot of good mentoring for Duathlon Nationals. I may not be as ready as I want to be in April but will be as ready as I can be. :-) Edited by BlueBoy26 2022-03-07 10:19 AM |

Master 4119 Toronto | Subject: RE: Racing Manatees - Better Together in 2022 I did my virtual half last weekend and i am pretty happy with it. I ran exactly where I thought i would. I mean, i wish i was fitter but always try to keep perspective on how great it is to be able to run a half marathon ... it's not a small thing. We had an unseasonably warm day and i got out early before the high wind warning started but was pretty windy for the last 5k. I am glad it's done now. And probably wouldn't choose another virtual race.
