I am so wrong. Whenever someone puts DP for a double post, all I can think is deep penetration. Calling Freud, calling Dr S Freud.

So wrong, but also so slow.

That would be Double Penetration, silly.

Wow, I didn't know what you were talking about Yanti, being so innocent. So I googled double penetration, and now need a good clean, my soul feels violated. When I said deep penetration, I was obviously referring to sport ointments ability to deeply penetrate the muscle to ease the pain at its origin. My mother warned me of women like you.......

This made me laugh so damn hard I almost spit my french fries out at the restaurant when I was reading it!

First HIM Yea!!!!!

Can't wait to go back and read the messages. Need food and water first

My swim was great, could have gone harder but I held back. I was 4 minutes faster than I had planned. The bike course kicked my . The winds were bad crosswinds first 28 and then shifted to headwinds last 28. Even the Pro's were 2-3 mph slower than they had hoped. I started at my ideal pace on the run but got way over heated. Finally after getting some ice I cooled down and ran pretty well until mile 8. The last 4 miles I stopped and walked through the aid stations to try and cool down. Had so much fun!!

First 1.2 mile open water swim ever

First 56 mile bike ride ever

First 13.1 mile run ever

And I did them back to back after 3 months of IT Band Pain. I'm thrilled!!!

and no IT Band Issues on the run!!!

Seriously - Congratulations bud.  That is one hell of an accomplishment.  Doubly happy that you had no IT band issues.

Internet community....is a nice thing sometimes.  I was listening to Vinnie Tortorich podcast the other day and he is based in LA.  He interviewed a guy called Mike Tate - my ears pricked up coz he had a northern English accent but lives in melbourne.

He is doing an ultra run in Sydney in May for a charity called Beyond Blue which is for depression - getting it away from the stigma attached to it etc.

So on facebook I donated to the cause coz I like it and he messaged me said thanks asked where I was in Melbourne etc.  And the short version of this story is we are going for a run down at the beach on Saturday morning.

How cool is that.  This is pretty much how I met piglet Andrew bike coach extraordinaire.  Seek out those like minded and you can help them they can help you.  It's a good thing

4agoodlife - 2013-04-07 6:02 AM I took Silver out for a ride today...clipped in and everything!  16 miles in a little under an hour and NO MAJOR SCARINESS Laughing  I practiced shifting a lot and not losing speed around corners. Of course, unclipping before stops. Getting started at lights was a pain at first because I forgot to shift down before stopping...DUH!!! Heart rate shot through the roof a few times, until I stopped worrying about getting my foot out "in time". Yell My last stop I had a little trouble because I got too cocky. I shifted twice before stopping but didn't pedal through...oooops!  Left foot shot out of clip when I only got grinding chain upon take off.  I'm sure it was a good show for the cars around the major intersection where I was flailing away. Embarassed  Overall a great confidence-boosting first ride. Yes!

Silver. Nice.   I hope i can find a cool name for my bike when i get one, yet it seems a bit, well, girly. I guess i will have to secretly whisper it's name.

I had one of the best race day experiences today. TW ran and I got to take pics. I am so proud of her.

April Fool's 5K

And she had the obligatory post race beer as well.

Good grief. A lovelier, more youthful couple never 'twas! Congrats!

Looked like a great race

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF THE RACING MANATEES YOU ALL DID AN AWESOME JOB

Tom, I'm sure that it was those shoes that made all the difference so I am going to have to start moving in that direction I think - well at least away from black or white, its time for some adventure

Froggy did you end up wearing your new shoes in your race or did youstick to the old ones? Just curious as to how they went.

Salty I believe that you are heading to Boston today so I just wanted to say good luck and kick some butt!!!

As for me, BUSY freakin' day---3 keepers out "sick", 1 keeper at a conference, and 1 keeper on vacation....this meant I was the sole keeper for carnivore land. I did finally get to see this little monster up close and personal--its Sumatran Tiger cub C.J. with his mom, Bahagia.

Super cute and finally getting his legs underneath him (but still a bit sprawl-y)

Of course I also got to deal with our seriously STUBBORN red pandas too--half are on meds (old age is a b*tch when you're a red panda)

Jane--one of the older pandas...

--and of course they do NOT want to take the meds--even in treats! The other ones are just crazy-suspicious and young, so its hard to get them to lock up on or off exhibit for cleaning...eeesh...zookeeper problems....

Apart from recalcitrant pandas, it was a delightful, busy day. I am now decompressing with an amazing rib-eye steak, brown rice, broccoli, and a beer (or two).... Happy Kate....although I am kind of feeling race envy right now...my next one isn't til the 20th.

Love the animals - especially the tiger cub; so cute!

So just a quick update. After a frustrating Friday pm, i thought it would be a good idea to take wifey and daughter to the pub for dinner, which would give me the perfect excuse to snick a couple of pints and unwind.

I gazed at the menu in a sort of perplexed way and decided that, with less than 48 hours to go before my first race of the season, i would, for the first time, take on one of their eating challenges.

How dumb am I!!!!

To cut a long story short, i failed to clear my plate, it is now 5am and my indigestion has kept me awake for half the nightCry. I am not sure if i will actually have finished digesting everything before 11am tomorrow, despite thinking that several glasses of red wine might help.

Somebody needs to give me a slap. Ok, just line up behind Salty and you'll get your turn when she eventually gets tiredWink

Allen, ah, what can I say?  It's good to have you back!!!  This is totally normal manatee behavior, participating in eating challenges close to a race.  Sorry it gave you indigestion, but boy did it make me laugh (not your discomfort, the whole before and after!)

I like, I like!!  Very nice looking, and I like the different colored leg bands.  You know you go faster when you know you look good, right?  For reals.

Catch up post

Froggy loves cycling!  Me too :-)  Regarding the Sora and Tiagra -- just wait until you test ride a 105!  Two additoinal comments on the bike - red bikes are faster and if you can't be fast, look fast!  Regarding streakers, in can be consecutive days of anything (running, over 30 minutes a day of exercise, whatever you goal you state publicly).  I'm glad that you improved your 10k time over last years.  A PR is a PR, right?

Jo, Americans also call running neked steaking.  In the case of our Steakers, we are just being silly combining a streak like a 'winning streak' with the neked thing.  Very glad to hear that you have a whole line up of riding partners!  Congratulations on your Trek's first 30k outside!

Kirsten - It's great to hear that you are feeling strong with your running!  Way to go!

Tom - Congratulations on the half marathon!  Way to go!  Oh, and great uniforms!

Stacey - "Women's" paint jobs on bikes make me crazy!  My bike came in red (which I special ordered) or women's specific purple-brown.  ick!  Jen's been bike shopping and she wants the standard paint as well, not the women's version.  Who picks these color combos out?!

Darren - Congrats on series of personal bests!

Erin - Great work getting Silver out there with the fancy new pedals and cleats :-)

Felicia - Congratulations on your epic higher learning commission conference weekend!

Chris - Congratulate TW on her 5k.  Good stuff there!  (sorry they served her Ultra after the race though)

Jonathan - Congratulations 70.3 Finisher!

Ann-Marie - Good effort!

Salty - Safe travels!

This weekend I did some riding, went to a wine tasting and generally enjoyed the weather.  Yesterday, Emma was so excited to go.  Somewhere fun.  What?  A bike shop?  Why are you taking me to a bike shop?  I'm a golden retriever.  You mean you took me to a bike shop and I cannot even go in the bike shop?  Are there treats involved?  Oh, coffee shop next stop and Treat Lady (aka my mom) is there!  Totally worth it!

Richardsdrr - 2013-04-06 4:03 PM I've had a week of training PBs, which is nice. Started off the week by breaking both my 10 km and my HM Bests whilst on a long run, sweet, then, this mornings run gave me a new 5 km pb and have knocked off another 1 min 7 secs to bring me under 25 min barrier on ,y way to my sub 20 target . I am reading the JD book u recommended Salty, and so far, I'm liking it. I am already going to apply one of the teachings from it. That is, I'm gonna train at the current stress level for the next 6 weeks rather than raising the bar each time I pb. Hopefully reduce the risk of injury/burn out. Good luck to all the racing manatees out there this weekend, not that you'll need it. You've done the training, now reap the rewards.

Awesome, awesome, awesome, Darren!!  Keep up the good work!

Update for the manatee peeps.  30km road ride.  Yes me.  It was nice, we chatted the whole time - have I mentioned he's hawt?

Anyway it was lovely, we certainly weren't pushing it but 30km on the Trek is a first!  It's a beautiful sunny autumn day, came back into a headwind so we had to work harder, we passed a few though and that felt good!  He makes me feel safe, he takes care of the drivers that shout at us - I feel very much a girl and let him do his manly stuff! Shame on me!

I am having a hair cut this afternoon, there is a salon open on aSunday - awesome.  Cannot wait it has been months, about 7.

Yay for a good, successful, safe piglet ride and yay do getting your hair did.  30 km, yeah, girl!

Short update of my 10k.

Horrible nights sleep (again) then woke up tired, late and rushing to get sorted before my hour's drive to get to registration. Then had to walk my wife and daughter to the finish line before heading back to the star line (about 4k walk).

Didn't hydrate properly, missed breakfast and managed a quarter flapjack whilst driving to event.

Finally got running and was looking for excuses to walk by 3k. Everyone was passing me. Breathing was shocking, no rythm, soooo pleased to see the water station at 5.5k which i took as my only walking opprtunity for about 15 secs. By 7k i began to settle and actually pushed really hard for the last 500m.

Finally crossed the finish line 47 secs faster than last year, but could have been so much better. Tough race in near perfect conditions. Dont know whether to be happy about the small improvement or gutted that it could have been so much betterUndecided

your "near perfect" sounds like my "near perfect"--awash in ale and still pushing through stale food, no sleep, walked way too much, haven't trained blah blah blah you have learned well, young Padu-froggy!

CONGRATULATIONS FROGGY!

Hey, It was only 15 seconds, I just wanted to walk the rest of the time!

Well, Froggy... it's over and you did see improvement. Though I can't help but wonder what a circle of Manatees could've done for you instead of that line

A 10k kicking, could you all manage it without getting more tired than me? Interesting thought though.
