I'd love to join in all this trash talking, but modesty makes it very difficult to brag about how much you all are going to beat me by.

DUDE.... quit giving away my secrets.  I've already got my list going.

let's see...
speed wobble
unseen hairline fracture of the upper membrane of my left brake cable
forgot to close the presta valve
I just plain suck
TSA wouldn't let my run legs through the checkpoint so I borrowed these

I'm still working on the list.

Nothing like trash talking ...7 months in advance!

Anyways... Question:  How are you guys and gals choosing your LP Marathon Pace?  This is one thing that has me stumped.  Should I wait and see what my fitness is during my Build Period right before the race?  Are you using a HR zone?  Is there a good Rule of Thumb to follow in choosing an Ironman Marathon Pace?  Especially for a challenging Marathon like LP?

Marvarnett - 2009-12-11 12:16 PM And you know what they say about a broken watch....
Indeed, but some aren't even right once per day, let alone twice...

Or thrice in my case! I'm just looking to FINISH*

*As long as it's in front of Jorge, Rick, Jenn, Fred, etc
Very smart, Dan, leaving me off the list. You wouldn't want to challenge yourself TOO much. Don't worry, I'll cheer extra loud for you as you cross the finish line (behind me)

I'm dumb not stupid remember!  Plus, while Jorge may look like a girl from behind he doesn't have pace booty like you.

Not saying anything bad about Jorge or anyone else...but I'm sayin.

Serious Answer:  For ME, whatever my coach, Jorge, tells me to do.  That's why I pay him to get me ready.  My job is to do the work to get ready and suffer till the end.

Looks like to me Bryan has an advantage  over some  living  in AZ  with the  High altitude training and stuff he does  there. IMLP should be a walk in the park for him lol .

>>> Yes, your fitness today is hopefully lesser of what it will 7 months from now.

Are you using a HR zone?
>>> no, I'll be training by pace and feel.

Is there a good Rule of Thumb to follow in choosing an Ironman Marathon Pace? Especially for a challenging Marathon like LP?
>>> Not really. You can determine your VDOT using Daniels formula and *IF* you do proper training your IM race pace should be around Daniels E pace +/-. IMO the best way to determine that is by reviewing your training sessions, race rehearsals, training camps, etc.

Instead of coming up with an excuse so early I'm just going to use the Bull Durham lines

We gotta play 'em one day (IM) at a time
I'm just happy to be here. Hope I can help the ballclub(BT)
I just want to give it my best shot, and the good Lord willing, things will work out.
