Yum!!  From your training log, looks like recovery is going well.  Enjoying the time off or still feeling like your brain is melted?

Lol, my brain is feeling a little fuzzy at this point

I'm so glad I don't live in an area like that. Anybody see the video going around lately of the guy in his car saying how much he hates cyclists? Blind hate in this world just blows my mind.

Really? You hate something? Why? how does it affect you?
It doesn't?
Move on.

The cyclists don't exactly help their cause by peeing in people's front yards or leaving their litter on the roads.  Even so, we also had a guy who followed some cyclists for several miles honking his horn at them.  Fortunately he got a ticket for harassment.

By the same token, we have amazing climbing roads and awesome weather and the haters are in the minority so I think I'll stay.

(Is Salty off the DL already??)

Ha!  You just shoooosh!  It's not a race, it's just a way to do a supported ride with a bunch of friends... but we might race the first 18 miles or so, which happens to be the first rest stop.

yeah, was going to say, it's not actually a race, but that was this weekend? Which distance are you going for?

Yep, it's this weekend!  There's a group of at least 6 of us that will be out together, though we're still deciding on distance... probably the 75, I don't know that I feel like doing a full century quite yet...

I take lower speed limit signs as challenges. Speed Limit 25 MPH, Challenge Accepted! But I normally do abide by the Stop sign, Yield sign, and the more life threatening signs.

Training question. I am revamping my training plan to include more bike. Right now I have 4 runs a week built into it, are they enough?

Monday 3.5 mile Tempo (target by Sept 1, 7:00-7:30 PPM)
Wednesday 7 mile MSD (target by Sept 1, 8:00-8:30 PPM)
Friday 3.5 mile Interval/speed
Saturday 10.5 mile LSD (target by Sept 1, 8:15-8:45 PPM)

Should I look at doing the standard increase mileage for a few weeks then relax the mileage for a recovery week, or would this set-up be adequate for a HIM. My target times are more for a continued training goal and trying to get back to my speed before I joined the Army 4 years ago.

I am thinking this should be good, as long as I do not add the 50 miler into the schedule.

They don't specify as an upper or lower limit.

In my mind 100 isn't that much more than 75.  I think the most mileage I did before my century was 60ish.  That was enough.  But 75 is still a cool ride!

I do feel a difference from 75 to 100 and have learned to watch going for the big round numbers. Sometimes making a bigger jumped than planned has worked out ok, but on others it's messed up training for at least several days after. 75 isn't exactly small either.

Just rode for the first time since my race 2 weeks ago. It poured rain on us the whole ride but I didn't care. I loved every minute of it. It was awesome to just ride for the joy of riding and not have to worry about heart rate, power, matches, nutrition, hydration, etc...... Even ate cookies during the ride

Find a mentor. Make a list of at least three people that you could approach for help, list your specific needs and then be courageous enough to begin asking.
