Champion 34263 Chicago | Subject: RE: Beach 2 Battleship : Official Thread Yeah woke up in a cold sweat with a sore throat and a hacking cough. It's gone away for the most part but I'm still stuffed up. I can't breathe through my nose very well. I'm off to the doc again sometime today, of course I've a busy day at work, to see if I can get another ZPack just to be sure. I had my first iron-related dream last night. Everybody kept saying `Nice job.' And I kept telling them `I didn't do the race yet!' and they kept saying `Oh well nice job out there.' and I was like `THE RACE ISN'T OVER!' but they wouldn't stop! Let's get this fu**er over with. I'm starting to go insane. |

Master 1741 Chapel Hill, NC | Subject: RE: Beach 2 Battleship : Official Thread I'm still in for dinner at Fat Tony's on Friday night at 5pm. I'm still stuffed up and now am coughing too. Going to run today doped up with 'Tylenol Severe Sinus' to see how I feel with that in my system. |

Expert 749 | Subject: RE: Beach 2 Battleship : Official Thread Alright, it's 44 degrees and sunny out - I'm headed out for a last min. test of my race outfit (in different shorts & jersey b/c I'm too lazy to re-wash stuff!) I even thought about getting my hair wet, but decided nah, I'm not that hardcore!! : ) |

Well the outfit was perfect - my toes were warm and cozy - I HATE cold feet!! Bring on the 45 degrees - I am set!! Head to toe: Ear warmers (throw away old pair), short sleve bike jersey, arm warmers, long sleve throw away shirt, light vest (i might skip that one - it's red and it clashes with my pink bike ; ) tri shorts, sugoi R&R compression socks (not sleves, full socks) and toe covers. It was just right for 44 degrees and I can ditch some layers as I go! |

I'm debating whether to do a full change, or ride with wet stuff to save time. PS: is it okay to ditch clothing at water hand-offs, without an abandonment penalty? I am planning to wear some cheap stuff I bought at the thrift store so I can throw it out as needed. Edited by keyone 2009-11-04 12:26 PM |

Expert 749 | Subject: RE: Beach 2 Battleship : Official Thread I have decided on a full change - I'm wearing a bathing suit under my wetsuit. This is the first time I've done that but it's also the coldest IM I've done! Ditch them at the water bottle hand off in the trash - not abandonment! |

I can easily toss it later at an aid station.

Champion 34263 Chicago | Subject: RE: Beach 2 Battleship : Official Thread In the water I'm just going with the jammers and the wetsuit. On the bike going with trishorts, a short-sleeve jersey from the Des Moines Hy-Vee Triathlon that LastCall (Beth) gave me a few years ago and arm warmers, some thin PI gloves with cycling gloves over them. On the run I think I'm just going with the onesie since I won't really need to carry much. I get pretty warm on the run. I'll put a lightweight running jacket in my special needs bag but doubt I'll even use it. I may take it and tie it around my waist just in case it gets colder after the sun goes down. |
