However, I will not report the number of beers I consumed while walking the 3 mile T-or-T route with the boys (let's just say I had enough to make my night's sleep absolutely ROTTEN). Here is my pup (old man now - 12.5 years old) dressed as Yoda: OMFG.. HIlarious!!! Love the little arms. |

As far as boozing it up for trick-or-treat, the custom in our neighborhood is to wander around drinking (the grown-ups). Some of the cul de sacs will even give you a "refill". Strength training this afternoon, maybe a little cardio too. |

I'm biking to college now which is 16 miles away from where I live; making use of a locker with my stuff I need so I can turn my commute into a workout. Then stack that with my swimming and running as well.. training is going to be fine, but monitoring what my intake is will not be. I'm starving after workouts and the discipline to stay away from le sugar is tough stuff. |

Master 1480 Southwest Chicago 'burbs | Subject: RE: DOWN for the Holidays! LOVE the dog costumes! I wanted to dress mine up, but she was having absolutely NONE of it. Been tough the past couple of days -- uncle passed away, garage broke, dog needs to go to the vet -- but still managing to hang in there nutritionally even though I haven't been training much. All day I've been hearing the vending machine calling my name, but I've somehow walked away! Go, me! Might be able to do some training today, but it'll depend on the guy who's coming over to fix the garage and how long something like that takes. Regardless, I'll have something healthy for dinner -- weigh-in tomorrow will keep me in line. |

The protein bars are kinda sweet but I don't feel like they are as bad as a candy bar. Apples are awesome too, and they keep well. |

Master 1531 TORONTO | Subject: RE: DOWN for the Holidays! It's Friday!!! I did yoga last night and I find it just knocks me out - pressed snooze and slept through my morning workout! So I weighed in and while it's moving in the right direction it's moving VERY s-l-o-w-l-y! Down to 141.9 - half a pound from last week - 1.1 total. Now if I could stay away from the mini chocolate bars I might see more progress!!! |

Master 1397 Granvile, Ohio | Subject: RE: DOWN for the Holidays! Happy Friday! Not much movement for me this week. Did great on workouts, but seems like I had something sloppy creep into the diet every day this week. I'd be going along well, then make impulsive bad decisions. Yesterday I had a Mexican buffet and margarita for lunch. Really want to see some movement this week, so I'm going to be less impulsive and more thoughtful on my food choices! |

Champion 6107 Out running or enjoying a fine glass of red... | Subject: RE: DOWN for the Holidays! Weight - well, down from last week, but still above starting point. Boogers. Confession - last night I had the inside of a piece of cheesecake. We took a job candidate out for dinner and I stayed mostly on plan (no grain, plus it was a hip veg-friendly recipe - only one menu item didn't have grain & did have protein...so I had that one - shrimp w/ pureed turnips, spinach, leeks) - but I did crumble and have dessert. I went with the cheesecake, because I figured I could eat the good stuff and skip the crust (grain). I'm glad I did - I had been craving sugar but didn't want to waste it on crappy little candy bars or stale cookies in the faculty lounge. This was real, restaurant-baked cheesecake and it was tasty. And worth it. And now I'm done with sugar for a while. And tonight is cheat night. The family needs pizza. We have a groupon that has salads + pizza, so I'm hoping to fill up mostly with the salad, but there will be pizza eaten. And I will have wheat belly for a few days. And I will remember why I generally haven't been eating grain. But pizza is so good. So. Good. I figure, at least like the cheesecake, it is a thoughtful (not mindless) cheat. HAPPY FRIDAY! |

Master 1480 Southwest Chicago 'burbs | Subject: RE: DOWN for the Holidays! Pretty decent news from my little corner of the world... Weight is only down 0.2 from last week, but I expected that... my weight loss usually goes like this: lose a chunk (i.e. 3 pounds last week), then gain about 0.5 to 1.0 and hover there for a few weeks, then lose another chunk. So, I'm in that hovering phase right now... actually pleased that I'm a little bit below last week's weigh-in. The good news, though, is this... I do monthly measurements and today was measurement day and FINALLY things moved in the right direction. Lost a few inches all over. I knew this from how my clothes were fitting, but it was rewarding to see the numbers. This past month has been good: dropped about 6 pounds and over 4". I'm only about 3 pounds away from where I started out the year (my goal is to be below that number by year's end). |

Veteran 160 Oak Park, IL | Subject: RE: DOWN for the Holidays! TGIF!! Bad weigh in for me this morning...I'm about 1.5 lbs UP from last week. And I have no one to blame but myself. My workouts are getting more consistent, but I haven't even come close to reigning in the nutrition. I just can't seem to mentally get there. I keep saying, "it's ok, I'll start tomorrow." And look where that has gotten me! This was a wake-up call. Time to get serious and cut out the crap. Sugar is my huge downfall so this week has been incredibly challenging. Need to put it behind me and move on....to fruits and veggies! |

Expert 1375 McAllen | Subject: RE: DOWN for the Holidays! I usually do great throughout the day but the evenings kill me. Last night, milk & cookies as well as a chocolate girardelli chocolate square. Need to have like... more carrots available. Those tend to tide me over really well. Wednesdays and Fridays are really hard to get workouts in because I'm busy all day, and sleep is scarce. However today after work I'm planning on getting my long run in, hopefully before it gets dark. After the run I'm gonna knock out some easy laps in the pool just to keep my technique up, but I don't need much in terms of swimming fitness and speed as far as the triathlete goes. TGIF. |
