Did some deep water aqua jogging tonight. It wasn't nearly as dreadful as I thought it would be. Actually, I kind of enjoyed it! I'm not sure how to get my hr up though. It seemed like my muscles were getting a pretty good workout, but I couldn't seem to get my cardio up.

Roni: I found aqua jogging hard too. Couldn't get the form down to elevate my HR enough so I just swam instead.  A couple of thoughts, do you take extra calicium and Vit D (taking 6000 IUs of it)?  I started on the advice of my doctor after the stress fracture.  I also recently got a Vit D blood test (still waiting for results).  Please, please don't push it on the run/walk.  If you do the risk of a full on fracture is very high.

Trevor: the thing on my head is my Brownie Beanie and the roses behind me are from one of my many admirers (aka the football players I used to tutor)!  My sad friend (aka my roomie for all four years of college) was being punk (can't you tell?).

Doing my long ride today so I will be underground for a very looooong time.  For those racing this weekend- BE Tough, Be smart...you can do it, even the last 10K Doug!

Hi gang. Just a quick hello before I dive into work again.  We have been having great weather up in the frozen north It's supposed to reach 18 (65) today. That will be a record high. Of course I will have to go out for a run tonight. Tomorrow the temp is supposed to drop to about 9. Stilll great weather for the time of year.

Training seems to be going well. I still need to put in more time running but I will get that in now that the better weather is here.

Hope everyone is doing well and having FUN!

Wow, is it quiet around here!

I start the discussion today, I have decided that I am taking an unscheduled "off day" today because the legs are feeling a little tired, I have a super long run on Sun (2 hrs), and it is way to early in the season to even start feeling over-trained.  I swam my A$$ off last week, so missing a 30 min swim & run today is not going to hurt anything.  Gotta learn to listen your body.

Good luck again to all you racers this weekend, especially the early marathoners!  I still think you are crazy running a marathon this early in the season, but more power to YA.  KICK SOME 8:00 min/mile butt.  BQ baby.  (think Dick Vaitle accent in honor of March Madness

Sorry Suzy...no Halloween pictures from my times in College, wouldn't want my high school aged kids to see those!  It might give them some ideas.

Steve, nothing wrong with Suzy's Ipod choices...were you referring to Lady GaGa????
Love her stuff.

I used Pink's Funhouse this morning to get me through my 30' bike TT and it was AWESOME!  Not sure if the BeeGees could have helped much, but Barry was my favorite!

I raised my average watts a few notches since January.    But I also gained a few lbs, so maybe it is negligible?
^^is that the right spelling?

Anyhow, happy thursday to everyone!

Hear Hear on Pink's Funhouse.  I have her live Concert saved on DVR and watch during some hr. interval workouts!

If you're racing, raise your hand high and tell us the details....and please include your strategy.   Now that we are getting into the season your thoughts could help others.

For the rest of us slackers, where do you think you've improved most in the off season and what did you do differently to get there?

I don't think I ever had an "off season". :-)  This week regarding to my tri training has been GREAT! This weekend however, I'm going to start pulling my hair out because finals is coming up and I am just so overwhelmed with all the projects that I have to do. This quarter has really taught me that my time management sucks. I'm am an "A" student, but I hated this quarter that I'm sucking it up as a "B" student.  It is what it is, and I can't dwell on it or will put myself down if I don't get as good marks as I wanted it to be. No one is going to hate me if I got a B. The world isn't going to stop because I got a B, hell, it's not going to stop if I got a C. :-) Even with if I get low marks, I will still get a 3.8 GPA overall. So I'm happy with that. My goal is to graduate with honors (I want to wear those golden tassels. LOL!).  This is just one of those quarters where I'm just seriously overwhelmed by everything/everybody. I'm hoping that next quarter will be slightly better.

Good luck to everyone this weekend!!

Sorry but I have bad news for you.  Life only gets busier and more complicated as you get older.  So far this year, I've been pulling my hair, grumpy, b*tchy and stressed every other day.  And some days I just breakdown and cry like a baby.  Poor Tony - he may hang back in the swim at Lonestar and drown me.  ;-)

Seriously, I thought about my life the other day and why I'm making it so complicated/hard.  Why can't I just make like simplier.  We really don't do that much.  But I came to the conclusion that I can't cut out anything but my own personal time/hobbies and that happens to be training and racing.  Since I'm not willing to do that I'll just have to keep plugging away.

Onward and upward.  Good luck to everyone this weekend.  I'm atuck at work today - a normal day off.  Errrr - rolling out a big project.  Maybe then life will ease up a bit.  Tootles - I'm back to work!

This morning I was treated to the sound of A lot of Coyote's in the hills!  I must say it was pretty cool to hear them "talking."  I was a little concern about having the dog w/ me, but we never saw them. Here is out run.  If you click on Satellite you can see we are pretty far out from any homes.

You were running at Cougar at 5:25am? Dude, that's hardcore. And yeah, I LOVE the sound of coyotes. We hear them from time to time at night when they make a kill. My dog growls at them...

Was hoping/planning to join your run on Tuesday, but am running Mercer Island on Sunday so am doing my long bike/run on Tuesday. Maybe the following week... Hopefully it'll work out sooner rather than later!

ENJOY THE SUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Friday to all. I need to get my arse moving. Much to do, much to do...

71 today, woo hoo!

Taking the kids out in the front yard so they can play, I will have my bike stand out there taking my bike apart and cleaning.

Debating on ride tomorrow have 3 hours, 15min @ 88-94% FTP, 15 min normal riding.

I have a extremely flat 3.5 mile loop I can do which would be easy to do the workout in but extremely boring.

I have a MUT that I can ride out for as long as I need to then turn around, has lots of intersections to cross and could have some walkers, bikers, etc I'll be leaving at 0630 so should be less traffic.

Or I can go on a 50 mile bike route on roads.  Hillier than the other options, will have vehicular traffic, intersections, etc.

Would like to do the road route but I think the MUT or loop course would be better for the workout.

Any thoughts, lol have been debating this for 3 days...

Take the roads, Tony!!!  I had a 4 hour ride about a month ago with 2 Z3 75 minute intervals that I contemplated doing on a nearby loop and decided to go for the hills, so easy to get into those zones when the scenery was ever changing.  Stop signs aren't too bothersome as long as they are not every other block   i was able to stay in zones much better than ie trainer or local loop...just for the sheer joy of it!!!

Have fun!  we are having great weather, here, too!  Did my track workout and swim early and now am off until Sunday!  YAHOO!!!

How about you just ride?  If your future races involve hills, then bike hills, if they are flat work on power and aero positioning.

Trina,  I saw a saying today that I thought was perfect for your anxiety about Lonestar:

The miracle isn't that I finished.  The miracle is that I had the courage to start.

I'm sure everyone in the MG will agree on how nervous we were before our first races, how we didn't think we were ready physically and that we had no clue what we were doing.  Being nervous is a good thing, it means you care.  Plus you'll have all the MG peeps there cheering you on.  Everything you are feeling is perfectly natural and all part of the training.  Triathlons are mental tests as well as a physical ones.  Keep going and you'll do great.   And great doesn't mean you'll be fast.  Great means you'll be brave, and have a great time, and be a better person for the whole experience.

Roni,  look in the new April Runner's World.  There is an article about nutrition and healing from stress fractures.  I wish I had your phone number last night when I was reading it.  I wanted to jump up and tell you about it.   And best part, you get to eat fat!!!! (sort of......)

Too many chairs i one area if you ask me. And why so many candleholders?
Is that colour of carpet hard to keep clean? It looks like you are going to drink that candleholder.

I remember when you posted this way back when, I don't think you said anything about a costume. And we were all wondering what had happened to you.
