![]() | ![]() At a concert last week, I sat behind a lady her friends. My wife and I commented on how bizarre her and her group was and then someone wanted to take a picture with her. I had to Google her to even figure out why someone wanted there picture with her. Turns out she was an actress from the now cancelled New 90210 show. The Hollywood connection explained a lot. Although I didn't recognize her or her name, I found out that she was the daughter of David Foster (who my wife really likes) and married to a pro tennis player which neither of us had heard of. |

![]() | ![]() The closest I got was sitting in Blake Shelton's The Voice chair. They didn't let you bring in cameras or use phones in the studio - but his manager took this photo and texted it to me. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Many years ago I was in New Orleans with a college group. A few guys ran into Bono in a club. They left Bono alone.
When Bono was leaving, he passed by the guys and said "thanks" as in thanks for respectfully leaving him alone.
Celebs just want to be regular people sometimes and want their space.
I got to meet Shaquille on a plane once. My then 3 year old son was having a meltdown. Shaquille leaned close to my son and told him to be a big boy and stop crying. My son was silent for the rest of the flight and I am forever grateful for Shaq's words to my son.
I think if a celeb is in an appropriate photo op (movie opening, book signing, convention, etc.) go for it. But if they are out trying to be regular people, respect their privacy. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Originally posted by Kido I don't really get it either. I have the opportunity being in Vegas. Can't recall half the random encounters I had. IF I get a picture, it purely for humor. Charles Barkley was sitting next to me in a club once, struck up a conversation, and got a shot because I was TALLER than him. Kind of funny. Ran in to Ron Jeremy at some poker tournament. HAD to grab that pic just because of who it was. Too funny to pass up. The wife? Even more so. Speaking of Hugh Jackman, he gave her a kiss while filming the pilot to some terrible tv show viva Laughlin or something. Lasted one episode. Worked on a music video with Katie Parry. Struck up conversations with Tiger Woods and Bono of U2. It goes on and on. But no pics. Most recently, she worked the Billboard music awards and had access to a lot of the celebs. Personally, I like to just treat them as normal people and not react, OR, if it's someone I particularly like, just tell them I like their work and crack a joke or something. Maybe shake their hand. Ran in to a lot of UFC fighters and Ben Rothlesburger at a gym once. Again, just laugh a bit and move on. Just like anyone else. I think there are few people that it would be impressive to take a photo with. Mostly world leaders or people that are really exceptional. Bush, Obama, LeBron James, Micheal Jordon, Peyton Manning, Muhammad Ali. My wife got a picture with Neil Armstrong. Not THAT I was jealous of. That's what I'm talking about when it has to be someone unique/special. The work that I do (used to do, really) put me in contact with celebrities on a weekly basis. I used to keep a list of everyone I met but it got too long to keep track of. Since it was a business setting, I couldn't get all starry-eyed with them, even if I had wanted to with the people I met whom I really admire (Eric Clapton, Joe Montana, Dustin Hoffman, Cal Ripken, etc.) Pictures were out of the question too. |
