I'd go something more like this

http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/bacco-bucci-barone-cap-toe-boot/3520516?origin=category

But if real winter weather is a concern and you want something that is waterproof I'd look at something like this

http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/blondo-valerio-waterproof-boot/3179211?origin=category

Either would pair well with jeans but would look much less out of place with more business casual pants.

I wish I lived in a climate wear I actually needed boots.  Then again, riding in the winter is better.

OK, keeping in mind Tony's weather (snow, slush, salt) and knowing that this is not a high-fashion environment (I'm in Omaha right now), I'm going to suggest these (and all my earlier caveats still apply--my favorite look of all time is worn out levis and a similarly worn out t-shirt, w/ boots and a fleece in the winter and flip-flops in the summer, so, again, FWIW):

They have lots of different leather/finish options (polished leather being one), depending on what you'd get the most use out of. They're very, very comfortable too.

I think your original choice is fine. My husband wears stuff like that all the time with khakis and I am guessing he's similar as far as taste and environment go.

That said, I'd tell my husband to head down to DSW and try some things on. I guess I am not sure what you chose is worth $120/pair when you might find lots of similar options that you can try on in the store and also get a discount.

You can thank me later.  Best, most comfortable pair of shoes I've ever owned.  And I've been wearing KEEN for years.

Meets all of your requirements except: Boot.  They ARE waterproof.

I may (or may not)  have:

My first pair of Keen sandles that I bought 8 years ago, wore while painting my first house, and have now been relegated to "inside shoe" status.

A pair identical to that one.

A black pair for when green is not satisfactory.

An old pair of Targhee 2 boots.

Last year's pair of Keen office shoes.

A pair of steel-toed Keens that my work paid for.

The pair of Nopos pictured above.

And at least one pair for everyone else in the family, in gender-neutral colors to be passed down from kid to kid.  (and a pink pair that will have to skip a kid.)

Yeah, we're fans.

Love the Keens - Tony do you like them? I think we have a winner - is this the first time COJ has collectively agreed on something?

Off to check my prepper closet. The world is certainly ending.

OK, I may have found yet another compromise.

The Slate/Black version of the Keen's are boots.  lol
Looks like the same shoe other than the height.  I like the low cut ones too, but I definitely like these better than the first one I chose.  I wanted brown, but the slate/black looks fairly brown.

Just tossing in another opinioin into the mix.

I don't really have an option to wear anything except dress shoes in the office. However, the Chicago winters get pretty miserable and my shoes wouldn't last a single commute following a snow storm.

My solution is to wear North Face waterproof boots to commute to the office (added benefit of being super warm), then change into my dress shoes when I arrive. My dress shoes literally never leave the office.

The benefit is that my boots are sturdy, and have withstood 3 Chicago winters (and counting), while my dress shoes never see the snow/slush/salt which covers the sidewalks and stay wearable for a lot longer.

They are comfortable, look OK, and are casual as can be. They work with khakis or jeans.

I'm a big fan of the Sketchers casual shoes too.  I have a pair of brown and black ones.  Both are comfortable and work with jeans, but I wouldn't wear them with Khakis.

Honestly I'd have a separate pair for Khakis.  Kind of like a road bike and tri bike.  Need the right tool for the job.

I love Ariat! I have three pairs of boots from them and I need to order a pair of "office/lab" steel toes. These are my favorites:

There are boots

and there are Red Wings.

The former are fashion choices, the latter are style.
