I podiumed in my local sprint, because of a DQ by a donk who used a snorkel in a 400 meter swim.

First out of the water at most of my spints - the only chick that beat me out of the water at my Oly was in a wetsuit - I wasn't.

Won my age group at a sprint tri last year!

I'm still fairly new to tri, and have only been in the "being active" game for a little over a year now after many years of being sedentary. After I lost 140 pounds, I placed 6th in division at my first tri ever(sprint), did my second tri a month later(another sprint, with an ocean swim), they had an Athena class, and I placed 1st by a 5 minute margin over the 2nd place Athena. I am no longer an Athena so this year I will be racing age group only.

Running races, I placed 2nd in division(W 25-29) in my first 10k, and 2nd in division at my second half marathon.

2010 was my first year ever racing anything, I am really pumped up for this year's race season!

I have 2 tris under my belt. The first one I qualified to go to age group worlds in Budapest and my second was age group worlds I got my butt kicked over there though, 50ish out of 80 in m30-34 with a time I was really happy with! I am so itching for the next one.

Finished my 1st HIM last July after breaking a 3rd toe exiting the swim.
Honestly didn't hurt much until 10 min AFTER the finish line.  (Adrenaline & endorphins are amazing things)

The past two seasons I've placed overall at all my races but one (AG however). Before that I placed AG in all of them.

- My first tri was in 1984. Tri bikes, aero bars, and tri wetsuits didn't even exist.
- I have several USCF 40K and hillclimb TT titles.
- I won my AG and qualified for nationals in my first tri back after a 7 year break. I'd only been in the pool for 2 weeks before that race.
- I raced with a pony tail half-way down my back for 5 years. It was the only way people knew who I was...
- I married a BT'er! (lkct01234).

Beside a lot of Podiums in my AG since I started in this business 7 years ago...only last year...so far from 14 Triathlons raced...12 were podiums....and...the two No podiums were cuz in one twisted my ankle and the other one for a flat tire...but...at least could finished both Races...

Also...I can say that I'm one of the fastest in T1 and T2...catching the fastest swimmers of my Wave...on my way form the Swim Exit to Transition...for that...I'm never worried if I'm not a faster swimmer...LOL

It would be easy to say finishing an IM, but I'll have to go with getting my brick at Savageman.

I came home with one of the podium prizes from my first race ever.  I didn't earn it for speed, so it will probably be a LONG time before I get one again, if ever...

I also did a Lazy Man Triathlon at the YMCA last winter.  We had 3 months to do a cumulative IM distance, I did it in a week. Nothing dramatic amongst the posters here, but that was before any 'real' races, and everyone else was teams and it still took them several weeks.  Especially for the swim, which I knocked out in one go the first morning.  Big fish, small pond?

  • Wrote a great application that resulted in the WTC's greed telling me I couldn't use their data.
  • Finally talked my wife into doing her first tri
  • 2nd in AG at a local sprint

I didn't drown in my first year.

Entering my second year, I feel like I've made tons of progress.  Unfortunately I also aged up to 30-34...which probably means I have to progress even more to match the same AG standings I managed last year.

Hmmm. Not sure. I'm a bit of a mongrel. I don't have a long list of big race victories. I was a fat kid who lost weight and got into endurance sports. I've never been particularly good, but I'm still around.

So, it looks somthing like this:

5 Time USCF State Cycling Champion with titles in both road (as a cat IV though) and Time Trial (both Senior/Elite Men and Masters).

Former member of Nike/Velo-News/Gatorade Amateur cycling Team in Belgium.

6 time Ironman finisher, including Hawaii, New Zealand, France.

Competed in the longest running and adventure races on earth: Discovery Channel Eco-Challenge (British Columbia), The Raid Gauloises (Vietnam), The Jordan Telecom Desert Cup (Jordan), The Marathon des Sables (Morocco), the "Last Marathon" in Antarctica.

Done endurance racing on all seven continents, including Antarctica.

Climbed the highest mountains on three continents.

Approx 300 triathlon finishes at all distances.

U.S. Army Honor Graduate, One Station Unit Training, Fort Benning, Georgia, Class cycle C-6-4.

Stroke and heart surgery survivor (my favorite "finish line").

That's it?

And I thought of one more...

- In more tri's that I can even count, I've NEVER flatted in a race. Bike races? Sure, but never a tri.

Now where's that wood to knock on?

Came in 1st in my age group in my first sprint tri (24 others) to my incredible surprise; using my $60 used bike and 8 yr old sneakers! Boy did I feel great! Using a bit better bike and have new shoes and now I'm  going to try a local HIM this year... and really,  I just want to finish. I'll never have great gear but I have tenacity and willpower!

In 2010 I was top 10 in my AG at Savageman HIM, and top 5 in my AG at Black Bear Olympic.

i got my half-marathon PR post-call, after a night in the ICU, on about 45 minutes of sleep.
my first sprint tri, i did the 5K at a pace i haven't ran since high school 15 years ago.

All I've got is that I placed 3rd in my first HIM and took an hour off for the 2nd HIM, completed 2 IM's, placed 3rd in ag in my
2nd  marathon (28 min PR) and qualified for Boston (7 weeks till I race it).  I have a couple 2nd and 3rd places in 30k trail runs.

105 F for first HIM, 45F and rain for 2nd HIM, pulled calf for 1st and 2nd IM's, broken collar bone prior to Boston this year and Vineman this year.  One of these years I will have a healthy season.

Getting at least 1 person a year on the average since I did my first tri in '95 to get in to this crazy sport. Always a great feeling to convince someone they can do it and then seeing their sense of accomplishment after they complete their first tri!

I was the first place finisher of the 2002 Portland Marathon (from Nebraska).

It was pretty funny because about a month after the race, both my wife and I received packages in the mail with our plaques. They say "NE First Place Male".

Other than that, I know what it feels like to come in last during mountain bike races. I also came in 4th place in my AG at my last race even though I took a wrong turn on the bike and added 3 miles. It is good to race small races once in a while.
