Has  anyone heard anything on how fast this is filling up? Was there a lot of athletes this year signing up on site for 2012? Lots of volenteers signing up?

2 days ago Keith Jordan said it was about 1/2 full. I saw a line of people on Sunday but they could have been the kona winners as well. I sent WTC a question about the sPots open and I got a canned response. I could not risk it.

Cool thanks, let us know if you hear anything back. I made a promise to myself that I wouldn't sign up for another til I do IMCDA next month. For the last 4 years I have been signed up for my next one before completing the one I was doing that year.

Hello!  My name is anne mckenzie and I live in Harker Heights, Tx. We are an Army family and i currently stay home with my 4 and 6 year old!  IM TX12 should be #2. I am doing the Redman in OKC in september and then IMTX next year. I am excited and nauseous at the same time! Thought i would start out with a smaller 140.6 before i tackle the crazy of an Ironman event. Watching video of the swim start makes me panic! looking forward to the next year!

Frickin peer pressure did me in...that and how much I loved watching it this year (somehow I've already forgotten the heat and humidity, despite doing a 16 mile long run in it last week), saw how amazing the TX crowds were, know my Team will be running an awesome aid station, and simply love Texas.  If everyone this year can suck up the heat, I can too, right?? It'll be #4 for me--but I have #2 and #3 to knock out first (IMCdA next month, IMAZ in Nov).  See y'all there!

Oh, and Anne--I was at Ft. Hood just last year (moved last Aug)--lots of great and SAFE riding on post.  There is a Team Army cycling group that does a ton of rides out that way.  Look up Team Army Ft. Hood on facebook and you'll find it. GREAT group of people.  I also have a few good friends in the area, Tanya and Anne, that are typically doing some long riding (trying to convince Anne to IMTX--Tanya did it this year) as well.  So, let me know if you want the link up with those guys.  Not sure how long you've been at Hood--but I was there from '06-'10 (with a 15 month sand box trip in the middle) so if I can help out, let me know.  Redman is a GREAT race--I did the half in '09.

Not to hijack....no IM TX for us as we are too headed to Kansas for a three year stint. I'll be very occupied and not likely racing much for 3 years but my wife plans to keep it up.

Happy June 1st!

Just wondering how many of you guys have upcoming races.  We don't have much out here on this island so my season was pretty much done after IMOZ, so I'm going to live vicariously through you guys.  If you'd like to share I'd love to hear what's going on in your neck of the woods.

If you're not racing, do you have any June goals?  I have a simple goal of trying to workout each day even if it has nothing to do with s/b/r.

Nothing in June for me.  I will be doing my first olympic in July at the Small Texan in San Antonio and then the Longhorn HIM in October.  I am currently nursing a sore achilles.  My main goal is to get up and running asap and then get my mileage up to a good monthly level without reinjuring myself.  Also, lots of swimming and biking in the Texas heat in the coming months.

I am racing Buffalo Springs Lake 70.3 at the end of June, Disco x-50 and Waco Tri in July, then Redman 140.6 OCK in September. I am signed up for the Oilman half IM in houston in November, but I don't know if i will want to tackle that after the Redman. I would like to run White Rock marathon in Dec, but again, i may just want to be lazy for a while after September, at least until January!

I'm in. Going to be #2 for me. Got in trouble, as I was thinking about which one to do for #3 even before #2 is done.

Buffalo Springs is quite the race! Be prepared for a pretty tough course!

I'm doing a little race in Idaho on 26 June....yeah, IMCdA, IM #1 of my 3 in one year (CdA, AZ, TX)...insanity, I know!!

I put in for the lottery, but just the half. I don't want to run a full so close to an IM. TO brittany: i have done BSL before, about 10 years ago before it was an IM event. I didn't know the course then and was really surprised. i know what i am getting myself into this time, but i couldn't race in Galveston bc of food poisoning so this is my makeup race i guess!

Ah, good! I ventured out to BSLT as my first half...it was on a whim cause I had leave I needed to use, and figured I'd see "where I was" so I could train for Longhorn that fall ('08).  Man did it kick my butt!  I'm really bummed I didn't know you when I was at Hood or that our time didn't overlap more. I would've loved to have had someone else out there to train with more often!!

Besides BT, and friends on my tri team, I haven't told anyone I signed up for IMTX yet cause I know everyone is going to think I've totally lost my marbles...my parents especially. Especially considering I said I'd think about doing TX if they moved it up earlier in the year. I think I'll tell them after CdA.  I grew up in W. Houston (Katy)--so my family KNOWS what May in Houston feels like--they are really going to question my sanity.

That is a little nutty! (but aren't we all!)  i have to say i too, haven't told anyone i signed up for IMTX. I was supposed to do it this year, but it turned out to be bad timing for me (deployed hubby) and I just wasn't there yet. But after seeing some friends complete it, i was so jealous, so i signed up right at noon on sunday! I had already decided to do Redman, so i hope i am going to want to do another!  I am impressed with 3 IM's in a row!

The Marriott Woodlands has opened reservations for Ironman weekend. There is a block of rooms at a discounted rate for Ironman racers too.

Just FYI
