Who has got snipped?
OptionResults
Yes, It was my Choice
Yes, went kicking and screaming
I plan on doing it when the time is right
If forced, I will comply
HE!! no, will never do it
No reason to and don't much care either way.
yes, we BOTH agreed it was time.
I prefer to call it Sliced & Diced - and I did!
I'm a woman but just want to see the results of the poll...
Does SRS count?
My wife had a C-section so we took care of her then instead.
a little self control is a lot less painful
I've been riding for a long time - same results
I'm in the queue....had to be rescheduled
I'm down, the wife isn't sure yet.
This is a multiple choice poll.

I had it done after child #2.  My wife has horrible post-partum and it was best for her to not go through another pregnancy.

I had it done on a Friday, convinced my wife to take the kids away for the weekend.  I sat and watched my favorite movies.  It was a very relaxing weekend.  No problems come Monday.

Done, used the needle-less, scalpel-less and open procedure. No issues, no pressure or anything. I flip out in any hospital/doctor env so I had a Valium about 30 mins before.

I have 0 respect for any male that makes his wife go though a tubal ligation (unless they're already in there of course) instead of having this trivial minor procedure.

Got one a few weeks prior to the birth of number four ( that way both my junk and my wife's junk came back online about the same time ) Really sore for two days. Mildly sore for about a week. Swam 5 days post , ran six days post and biked seven days post. If you don't want to have anymore kids do it. I have little respect for any dude too wimpy to do it. Tubal ligation is vry invasive , painful and way more expensive.

....If you have a doc with a sense of humor (like mine) be careful to check the band-aid over the tiny incision.  I didn't until my wife started cracking up...  Hello Kitty.

...

That's AWESOME!!!

I realize it is a surgical procedure, but I want to play devil's advocate for a bit.  You're worried about an in-patient procedure that takes a day or 2 to recover....but you're not worried when you're wife or SO takes hormones every day for years and years.  Not worried how it might affect her mentally or physically...Or what about the woman who gets an IUD inserted and then goes through a week of pain after the procedure, then every month has a crampier, heavier period and a lot of discomfort.

(I actually understand the hesitation, but I just think it's interesting that the consequences of BC pill or other contraceptives aren't looked at as a "big deal")

Snipped.

Fellow triathletes would appreciate this. I took matters into my own hands as far as manscaping prior to the procedure (that's no place I want someone else with a razor). The nurse came in to check me out and said with a big smile,"Nice job shaving!"

After 3 beautiful girls, wife and I decided it was time for one of us and mine is much easier. Snipped on Wednesday, took the following day off, and resumed training a few days later.

I'm interested to hear more about needle less scalpel less, is it 100% effective?  What is the deal?  I'm headed down this road in the next 30 days so... this sounds good to me.

Done it.  No big deal.  The worst part for me wasn't the discomfort (I say discomfort because it doesn't really hurt) afterwards, it's the deadening shot right in your testicle.  THAT MF'er HURTS!!!  I wish someone had told me about that.  I told the doctor "hey that hurts!" to which his response was, "yeah, it's supposed to."  But it's over pretty quickly.

The other part I didn't like is having the doctor messing around with your junk during the procedure.  You know, moving stuff out of the way and what not.  I mean he has to, and then talking to me.  Just weird.  It's like the ultimate bad urinal etiquette.

Outside of those two things, it's almost forgettable.  Don't sweat it.  You'll be glad you did.  Or maybe I should say this, I have 3 kids and don't want any more.  I'M GLAD I DID.  I don't suppose it's fair to suggest that you will be glad, since I really don't know.

On the pro-op pruning; my boss at the time had gotten snipped and had a great story about a pretty young nurse shaving him down. I was totally looking forward to a similar experience. Doc told me to take care of it myself a couple of days before the procedure. What a rip-off!

No regrets, although I do occasionally have mild unilateral testicular pain, which is apparently not uncommon.

Ok so no needle, it's an air injector. I swear, I barely noticed - it's like getting flicked with a finger, or a weak rubber band twice. That's it, all frozen.

No scalpel - it's a small sharp pipe that makes a tiny hole in the center, and pulls out each tube (which is cut/clamped/whatever) then put back. So one hole instead of two slices.

Open: traditionally they seal up both ends of the hose. Plugging the exit is obvious and always done. But plugging the generator - just creates pressure - instead, leave it open and the body absorbs just like tears. Minor increase in probability that it could grow back together (1 clamp to fall off instead of two) but my doc has never seen someone come back (with pain or failure). Was a no brainer.

Not a lot of Docs know about the open technique, but I personally found it was worth looking for someone who did.

Just scheduled mine officially for April 6th (guess I won't be doing the half marathon on the 7th)

Both me and the wife are extremely happy with this route, best for all parties involved.

Now just have to figure out a way to tell my 7yr old why dad is sitting on a bag of peas.

Had mine done in 2003 after the birth of my 3rd child.  No big deal at all.  I, too, got ripped off in that I was asked to shave myself beforehand.  Got to the Dr's office and they had some problem with their scheduling software - the doctor had gone on vacation and nobody told me my appointment was canceled.

I had set my mind to this so I waited at the office until they could get a doctor to do it.

The funniest thing I remember about it was that you have to bring in some samples to be tested afterward.  I lived near the doctor's office so I could just drop them off in the morning on the way to work.  One morning I'm in the bathroom trying to get "motivated" to make a sample and my 3-year old is outside the door playing with the doorknob.  The door was locked, but still, it made "motivation" difficult.

All I can say is, if you're a man who is afraid to get this done and would rather have your wife get her tubes tied, then HTFU.  You may not need to have it done because you obviously don't have a pair.

Got mine done in 99 after our 3rd child was born.  It practically took an act of congress for me to get one because I was only 25 at the time and the Doc even told me that I should wait in case I get divorced and want to have a family with somebody else.  i about punched him.

Other than that the procedure was easy as the others have mentioned and I recall being pretty tender for several days afterwards but I could get around fine.  Fortunately I was on the Couch to Couch program back then so physical exercise was not an obstacle I had to worry about.

My wife and I had decided we had two children and that was enough. We were both in our mid 30's and she didn't want to stay on the pill and I didn't want to go through diapers again. I also had a small hernia and we could kill two birds with one stone so to speak. Plus it is less evasive for guys.

Had a little more pain than expected due to the hernia. I think it was a couple weeks before I started training again.

Did it 3 or 4 years ago. easy, painless. No issues afterwards. In fact, had to be pall bearer at a funeral about 4 hours after having ti done, and it was fine. Only issue was having to go get tested 3 times to make sure I was shooting blanks. took a while to, uh, empty the tank ;^)
