Every run of any distance has been done in Nike Dri-Fit shorts without any glide. I haven't gone further than 13.1 miles. They have been great for me, so much so that I will search out the very brand/model when buying new. I'm on pair #4. I'm not sure on the model (Challenger or Distance) but I know them when I see them on the clearance rack at the outlet mall.

the White lake races look great, I’ve considered them too, but I don’t know that my car can go anywhere in NC but western NC

Have you done the HITS Ocala? Been thinking about signing up for March Olympic or HI Aquabike to get in an open water swim and work on transition before St. Anthony's end of April.

I think that Robin P has done Ocala. Hopefully we can get her to respond when she's back in town.

Nice! I'm planning on the fall White Lake Oly.

I've been looking for an excuse/race to try to meet some of the southern manatee contingent.  Sadly, most of the races you guys are signed up for conflict with my own race schedule.  White Lake is the same weekend as LP 70.3.

If you're up for an Oly in June, come up north to Jax. They have a new course for DRC's Jax Tri Series. Event has been up in Fernandina Beach for years with an ocean swim. This year they've moved it to downtown Jax so the swim will be in the river -- no jellyfish, just river dolphin!

Jelly fish freak me out more that sharks! When I was in boot camp a guy was stung in the eye by a jelly fish and his entire face swelled up. It was one of the freakiest things I have ever seen.

I'm with you there! Jelly fish always give me a startle. I'll take a lake or river swim over the ocean any day.

Detest jellyfish. Before IM Vietnam 70.3 in 2016, some guy was saying that we should keep our mouths closed on the swim to avoid being stung in the mouth! There was a swarm of baby jellyfish and they just made us go through them. Quite a few people (including me) walked the first 150-200m as tide was out, the ocean floor was shallow near the shore, and most of the jellies were there. But on the way in (riding a wave) I got multiple stings, which made the bike very interesting with swollen eyes. My power was all over the place--due to wind and not being able to see the PM clearly! Ugh. On the plus side, the violent itching from the stings kind of distracted me from other issues like fatigue and heat....

I like ocean swims as long as the surf isn’t bad! Knock on wood, I haven’t had any jelly fish issues. But, I would not like them! Had my puppy at the beach yesterday. The wind was crazy and lots of jellies blown in, lots of big ones. My puppy was sniffing them before I knew what was up. Never got stung though. Thankfully, a couple of man o war that were blown in did not get his attention, b/c then we would have had a very sad puppy!

ETA: once again my picture shows up as an attachment. Grr.

Karl's question about DS2 made me think that it must be a challenge at times for people reading things in here, what with the shorthand that gets used. So here's a couple off the top of my head:

  • DW (S, H, D) - Dear Wife, Son, Husband or Daughter). At any other time this can also mean Ditzy, Divorced, Dipstick, Danged, or a multiple of other words. Context is important. TW is an offshoot of this and for me means THE Wife or The Wonder. Everyone would be lucky to find one.
  • IRL - In Real Life. I have met Hands IRL.
  • Hands - Ann-Marie
  • SO - Significant OtherDW or DH - Much like DS or DD, but husband or wife.

There are a number of these, I'll let others chime in.

Bizarre to me that your post would be considered TMI in this forum. Guess it was simply the use of the word "chafing??" Having never run more than a 15k, I can't offer any recommendations. Just had to chime in on the TMI flag.
Yep TMI would be if you had included pictures of said chaffing. While you all laugh Yanti did exactly that to me after IM WA. Some things you can just never get out of your brain.

Hehehe FACHMIE, its whopper time.

(For those new to the Manatee pod, Fachmie is the name of an employee of Burger King (or Hungry Jacks where I live) that Yanti came across in her travels. Her name badge said FACHMIE, its whopper time. The term just kind of caught on here.
