Be careful. Today is my youngest daughter's birthday and my Dad always called her our little groundhog (not exactly the term of endearment you want from your grandfather). HAHA

Racing Manatees!!!

February 3-4
Another slacker week?

Is anyone racing?

Does anyone have big plans for the weekend in terms of training, Super Bowl, etc.?

No big plans, we have our bike club annual banquet this evening and then tomorrow a family dinner in the afternoon. We're skipping the Super Bowl party this year. With temps not forecast to get much above 20 F, it will be a weekend of Zwifting and maybe some treadmill running. Next weekend we are making a quick trip down to Fort Lauderdale, Florida to visit some relatives and i'm looking forward to being able to get outside.

We suck!

Nothing special in terms of training this weekend.  Making a field trip to run 14 miles or so in our "hills" tomorrow and then Sunday will see some sort of cycling, probably on the trainer just for time reasons. You never know though, my bike may be ridden outside for the first time in 3 months!   And, of course, the weekend will be filled with puppy play groups and puppy training class for Teddy!

I am praying the rain stops (it is not forecast to do so) so that my bike can get outside too.  I am already sick of my trainer (averaging over 5 hours per week on it right now) and it is a long way to May 12.

What?!  That's unheard of!

No big training plans.  Saturday: maybe take dirty bike to the (flat) Enola trail by the river or ride tri bike (Rico) on trainer, then I have a Widows game in the late afternoon.  Sunday: run.  I'll probably head to the river trail, aka NWRT.  I love being near the water!

My husband hates, HATES the Eagles but I want to watch mainly for the commercials and to discuss any exciting plays with my friends, so hopefully I can convince him to watch the game.  I'm going to bribe him with totchos.  Wish me luck!

Got my 2nd concussion on Wednesday. I had a bad head rush, fell and hit my head on the floor. Luckily I was on carpet. Like the last time, it's a "minor" one (I didn't lose consciousness), but so many emotions: fear, frustration, anger, self-doubt, sadness. Not to mention headache, nausea, light- and sound sensitivity, blurry vision, and generally feeling like I'm in a fog. Ugh. The upshot is that I need to stay away from my phone, which I use in lieu of a computer, as much as possible. That means no Manatees for me for at least a week, maybe more. I'll be back eventually, though. In the meantime, don't get into too much trouble!!

Plans for the weekend = recover from this cold. Get a decent(ish) spin in and entertain the Raven-dog.

22 miles in the books. The last 5 miles were a head game & the last 2 were just flat out ugly, but it got done.

Bunch of friends ran a race Friday night & today on Tybee Island. 5k on Fri night, 10k this morning, followed by a HM, a 2.8 mile beach run & then a 1 mile 'fun' run. If you finish all 5, you get a 6th medal for 26.2 miles. Word is the beach part was the worst.

Good for you for getting it done. That race sounds..... um.... intense. but Tybee is such a great place.

Another slacker week?

Is anyone racing?

Does anyone have big plans for the weekend in terms of training, Super Bowl, etc.?

I'm beginning to assess what the year has for me(a bit late, I know). I'm currently focusing on running, most specifically trail running. It seems to be going pretty well for me. My goals at this point are pretty minimal, just keep adding and making tiny improvements here and there. I figured the beginning of month 2 seems like as good a time as any other to ask, so here goes:

  • How is everyone coming along on preparations for this year?
  • What types of adjustments are being made in training plans at this point?
  • Who is using a coach?
  • What types of solid race plans do you have in place?

I hope the week treats you well.

great questions!

1. I am way ahead of last year, but that’s not hard since last year at this time I was 2 months into my 4 month no run, no bike lock down!

2. I’ve changed training plans from last year to add more bike and less swim. I don’t start the official plan until mid March.

3. No coach.

4. I have 3 for sure - I hope!, races. Valley of the Lillie’s HM in April, Lake Logan HIM in August, and IM Chatt 9/30.  I’m pretty sure I’ll add to this.

•How is everyone coming along on preparations for this year?

Late start due to the weather and flu. Finally got my first full week in. 3 runs 1 bike last week. No issues with any residue flare ups so that's good.

•What types of adjustments are being made in training plans at this point?

I don't have a solid training plan yet as I need to see if the body can handle some volume. Plan right now is to run 2 to 3 times a week and get some bike time in as well and maybe a swim here and there.

•Who is using a coach?

Not for this year.

•What types of solid race plans do you have in place?

There's a couple of sprints in April I have an eye on another sprint in June and then labor day and October. Nothing more than sprints for me
