Congrats, Jayne!  That looks amazing.  Has anyone else in the MG ever been a pacer?  I was approached by the Impalas (a women's running club here in SF) to pace for Nike women's HM/Marathon next October...not sure if they really want someone this short to be a pacer!!!

I imagine it could be lots of fun.

Sounds like fun, Jayne!

Kim, you'd be a great pacer! Just carry a balloon or wear a tall tall hat!

Do any of you guys/gals have the Adamo saddle?

Thinking of possibly making a change.  It's a pricey little saddle!  I currently use the Specialized tri-tip gel saddle...my sits bones are okay, it's more the soft tissue...come to think of it, was not too happy at about mile 80-112 on IM day, either!

I have the cobb.  Tried the Adamo at my fit, and to make it work I would have needed to zip tie it a bit closer.  The Cobb isn't perfect, but it's the best I've had, and I bought a second one so that they are on both bikes.  Payback!  You want to borrow one to try is out, you're welcome to!!

No need for payback, but I would love to try it!!!  I think you should come down to the city to meet Roni with me on the Dec. 3rd weekend and we can do all kinds of swapping!  Omg, are you packed yet!!!???

OOOOH!!! I may be there for a girls' trip (Beach Blanket Babylon) Friday  night....I could meet up with you guys Saturday afternoon!!!!

I've never been paced and never asked to be a pacer either.  I would think there is a fair amount of pressure to make sure you deliver the goods in the end?  Not sure.

I have a SELLE Litspeed and LOVE it, but I think butts are different.  You have a good relationship with your LBS hopefully they will let you test out a few.  My only watch out is what feels good on the CT may not be the perfect fit on the road depending how much you move around.  That's what happened to me in '10.

Interesting theory on swim deaths in triathlon...hard to have a lot of facts to go along with it.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/health-science/deaths-in-triathlons-may-not-be-so-mysterious-panic-attacks-may-be-to-blame/2011/10/24/gIQA70NrKN_story.html

Very interesting and I can see where the theory has merit, but like you said, can't be proven.  Doesn't matter how much you train the open water combined with a race situation is just "different."

One of the local race companies, FSseries, has a couple of new races in one of my favorite venues, Washington, NC. They call them FS100 and FS50. The 100 is a 2 mile swim, 88 mile bike and 10 mile run. The 50 is a 1 mile swim, 44 mile bike and 5 mile run.  The races are on May 18.

I am thinking of doing one of these as an early gauge of my fitness.

You used to be able to rent an Adamo from Trisports for like 30 dollars for 30 days to try it out.  If I remember right the rental fee was applied to the purchase price if you pulled the trigger afterwards...  Adamo was not for me.  The  Cobb feels much better (still not "perfect" though)

Thanks again Andy!!!!! ^^^ I love mine!

A little rain never hurt anyone, and it makes for great photos. Just ask Birdy!! Speaking of whom... Everybody needs to send some healing thoughts his way. Poor Steve is couch-ridden with some nasty ick (welcome to parenthood) and has been for several days now. In spite of feeling like crap, he still mustered some mojo to lead a group on the trails last weekend. But he needs to get better fast!! Heal up, pal!!

Hi Ho Peeps!  It's that time again.  Who is committed to bringing it home this weekend?  With so many PRs the last few weeks the pressure is on. Give us your race scoop!

And for the rest of us, what's the one thing you've been doing during the OS that has helped keep you going, energized you or rocked your world?  A new eating plan? a favorite new sport?....lay it on us!

I'm not racing this weekend.  The kids have a swim meet.  So between their swims I will be stalking tracking a fastie in AZ.  Go Linda!

What's keeping me going in this OS = I am psyched/terrorized/excited about a race I have on my calendar for next year.  I have toned down the workouts, but even 11 months away from race day I am hesitant to miss doing something each day.

OS, what OS? As Linda said that race in just under a year has me nervous already. I am seriously working on slimming down. Lost 7.4 lbs. since my Half. Got a LOOONNNGGGG way to go. I keep thinking of my skin abrasions and my slow running times to keep my focus.

I suppose you could say I have a little race this Saturday.  I'm certainly not looking for a PR just survival.  I really have no idea what to expect.

Plan A: First 15 miles - go easy on the AT trail and come off the mts. with my legs fresh. Next 26 miles - run a marathon in b/t 4:30 and 5 hrs. Last 8 miles - survive the last leg and cross the finish line before the cut off.  Before dark would be golden.

Plan B: Get from the start line to the finish line anyway I can.  Have some fun along the way.

Good luck racers.  I'll be thinking about Linda and Jeff while I'm on the couch Sunday.  :-)

Not a race per se, but I'm hitting a bike rally this weekend - "The Turkey Roll" - plan is for the 65 mile route, but I have a buddy going with that may want to roll 40ish instead - we'll see.

As to the other question - not sure this is off season for me - I mean that would infer that I actually did something during "season"....  anyway I am all jacked up over running this year as I am finally making some good progress in that discipline - I even have my first 10 mile long run on the schedule coming up this weekend...

A PR is guaranteed, Sam! That's the great thing about a new distance. I am so excited to hear all about it! You've got a great plan... you've done some amazing training... just remember perpetual forward progress. You are going to do great! Do they have tracking for JFK?
