It might take me two weeks to get all these beer, Jameson, hot dogs, pulled pork samwhichs out of me. So I guess you can say the wheels came off the cleanish eating wagon this Saturday and Sunday. No matter how hard I have to work to pay for this weekend activities it was well worth it! I got to see a ton of freinds that I have not seen in forever and I have not laughed that much or that hard in a long time. I do hope that most of you guys behaved better than I did but if not I hope the fun was worth every calorie. And yes I am hung over so no yelling please dipshittery celbrating That made me laugh... quietly I knew I should have used spellcheck. LOL I am not looking forward to swimming and running tonight but it might be just what I need to shake this headache. It's to pretty to be inside tonight so I might go play in the outdoor pool tonight |

A good week of eating, solid workouts, yardwork and up another pound and a half! The meds make me feel better, and get fatter. LOVELY! If this keeps up, I will be too big to train.. Hang in there, Robin, if you are on steroids for the breathing issues the water weight they give you is temporary. Just miserable looking at the number go in the "wrong" direction. Remember, it's just a number. NOT who you are. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I swam today for the first time in years. I really was dreading it and wanted to just give up this crazy tri idea. It was cold out, throught the pool would be yucky, can't really swim. So glad I pushed through - pool seemed clean, warm enough and I managed to do 400 yds. 8x25 yds 4x50 yds Don't know if it was pretty, but it felt OK and think I followed all the tips I've been reading about. Had time between driving the kids from one activity to another and stopped by the gym to get 50 mins on the stationary bike in. The other day I maintained 90rpms for an hour. Today, same level, and was pushing just to maintain over 83 rpms. Interesting. After a good day of working out I just feel like I'm two inches tighter all over! Again, that damn mirror has to ruin a good dellusion. I can't believe that my two days of hard work didn't change me into a skinny minnie (only partially joking). Can't wait to see what I can do on the treadmill tomorrow. 12 days till I start training... Mitzi |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Moving backwards, some. My neck is down to 17.25" and all my size 38 pants are baggy as hell. My work belt keeps growing, and I really need it to actually hold up my uniform pants. This time last year, my belt was just a decoration. Sadly, my belly seems to have gone up from 38.75 to 39 inches, and my BF% has gone up to 21.7. Time to strengthen my efforts. April 8th is the weigh in date for my semi-annual Physical Fitness Assessment. |

woo hoo great that you got in the pool!
at the race my younger son (a high school swimmer) said he could pick me out of the pack of 30 swimmers I was in as my stroke is so "unique" and inefficient and slow. Yes I am that bad that my son could pick me out in a half ironman open water swim. meeting with a swim coach thursday |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I finished - which is about all I can say - the run was a death march - which is not surprising as I was undertrained - going into a HIM without bike nor run fitness makes it a hard day. swim was GORGEOUS, bike was beautiful (except first and last 10 miles) and windy....the head wind was killer. run was hot, no shade and painful. I got what I deserved but I finished. and just signed up for Rev 3 Venice, FL in November - I plan to really train properly for that one |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I think I have almost made up for my post-half mary reward of fast food and good beer - hoping Friday's weigh-in will reflect that! Unless MFP is lying to me, I've been running a good deficit. Thinking of Friday's weigh-in will hopefully keep me honest today - I'm doing a little baking with my kids because they're home for spring break and I never ever ever bake. But I figure they need to learn to follow recipes and they aren't going to be jazzed to do that making turkey cutlets or chicken breasts. ![]() |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good afternoon downers!!! I am pumped today. Several things are going my way. Swimming is finally starting to click for me which is a good thing. I'm not any faster than before, but I am a heck of a lot less tired which is all I was really after. I think some speed will come with fluidity of motion. More importantly my first big race of the season is this weekend. It is the Texas Independence Relay, and it is a 200 mile, 40 leg, relay foot race across central and southeast Texas. I've been in touch with all the team mates and they are pumped too. Should be a great race. Weigh in will probably be up this Friday, but that is to be expected as I have been ramping down my training and eating at the upper end of my caloric consumption to prep for the race. Hope you are all having a great week. Edited by dsand97 2013-03-20 1:13 PM |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Don, what a great experience. Looking to hear how it goes. Cat - if swimming with poor form is good enough for you, doing HIM for practice, it's good enough for me! SpeedKnight - great idea to take a pic, sometimes I'm afraid I won't remember. Esp. love the sweat splashed on the readout - sign of a great workout. Mitzi |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() oh man, I fell off the wagon and it ran me over. Then it backed up and hit me again... My eating has been slacking a bit lately. I had been managing to stay close to the caloric limit I wanted, but the quality of food just hasn't been great. And today... well, after a month or two of looking at boxes and boxes of girl scout cookies and not eating even a single one, I lost it for a bit and ate a whole box of Samoa's and washed them down with a few beers. ok, enough self pity. I admitted it out loud, logged the entire debacle into myfitnesspal (as opposed to when I used to do something like this, and just pretend like I didn't...) and am ready to forgive myself and move on. Well, maybe one more beer first, at this point what's it gonna hurt?!? |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I find when my resolve is high I can't push it with too much temptation. I think of it as being an alcoholic. Every time I think I've gotten a handle on my eating I'll have just a bite, or have something I shouldn't eat in the house. It's tough, but one splurge won't undo all you wonder work. Just don't do it again soon. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() norcal_SAHD - 2013-03-21 1:34 AM BWAHAHAHHAHA well said. We've ALL had those day(s) haven't we? I certainly did this week during a mid-week dinner with guests. Did well until dinner, and then it all went downhill. It felt like a short week this week, didn't get in as much working out as I'd like. But, I'm holding steady at 124 lbs, and that's fine by me. As long as I don't gain...putting in some extra work this weekend. 4 more lbs to go...I swear it's getting harder as I get closer to my goal.oh man, I fell off the wagon and it ran me over. Then it backed up and hit me again... |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Up a lb to 165.5. I'm working out and not have bad eating days. Whatever, it's all good - I just have to keep saying that...and no my clothes are not fitting any better and my measurements aren't changing. I'm being really honest when I say my eating is good. Not eating to compensate for workouts - just a bite of a protein bar before and an apple after. It defys the laws of physics but I've actually recorded every bite of food I've put in my mouth and worn my bodybug and had weeks of a 300-500 daily calorie deficient and not lost weight. Could be a slowing of metabolism but the bodybug is supposed to be recording that - steps, METS (3-5.9 recorded as moderate; over 6 recorded as vigorous) telling me calorie burn for the day. I do have to admit I'm amazingly inactive. It's a good day if I get 90 mins of moderate activity in (walking etc) and 30 of vigorous. Means I must be sitting all the rest of the day. Guess I have to get out for walks throughout the day and throw in some more time at gym. I will go back to recording all my food. It's a pain because I don't have a smart phone so I have to write it down in a little spiral bound and record it at night. Big sad face - ![]() Edited by MuscleMomma 2013-03-22 8:02 AM |

It's a pain because I don't have a smart phone so I have to write it down in a little spiral bound and record it at night. Big sad face - So frustrating - I know! I've been there! I think inactivity is a big factor - at least for me. I sit at a desk 9 hours a day. I don't know if it's an option for you, but I had my employer raise the work surface in my cubicle. It's raised so I can stand if I want, or I can sit in a high (bar-stool height) office chair. The only investment they had to make was buying me the chair since I was re-locating anyway. But even if I wasn't relocating areas, it would have just been the chair and the labor to raise the work surface. Here's a photo. Also I keep an old pair of running shoes at my desk so I can walk over lunch breaks. I don't do it every day, but shoot for 3x per week of at least 20 minutes. There's a whole extra hour (usually 80 minutes) of activity in my week, yay! Have to make sure I have my iPod or phone with ear buds though, it makes it so much more enjoyable with music. |

Big sad face - ![]() I had a Bodybugg two years ago and finally sold it on Ebay after 6 months of NEVER losing what it told me I should. I was constantly frustrated that every week it told me to watch the tutorial videos again because I was clearly not doing something right (not in those exact words). It made me so mad every week! The one thing it was good for was to show me how little I burn while sitting at a desk all day. By the deficit numbers, I should have been skeletal thin a year ago. It's frustrating and it doesn't make sense. I've had a metabolic assessment and my caloric burn rate is a little on the low side, but even with those HR zone numbers programmed in my Garmin and logging everything I eat... it's another week that I should have lost 1 and instead I lose 0. My perimenopausal body is refusing to budge much from 170 and it never makes sense which way it goes. So I feel your frustration! I have tried every combination of diet and exercise over the last two years to produce results and the deficit never matches up with the scale. I envy those that get the .5-1 every week like clockwork. That was me for the first 60 pounds I lost then I hit the brakes. I really want to get to goal weight and I am making a concerted effort to move more throughout the day instead of relying on my workout time for burning calories. This last 20 has got to go!! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() 205 Woke up this morning to find that I am up 2 lbs, and I'm good with it. Truth is I expected it. I tapered my training down as I said in preperation for the race this weekend and I've hit or at time exceeded my caloric consumption goals, in order to make sure I'm fueled this weekend. It will probably all come off over the weekend anyway. Between the running and the light eating and broken sleep habits it should be a good weekend for weight loss instead of the typical slight gain. Also found out that just in the nic of time my team has reached our fundraising goal for the Jimmy V Foundation. So I am in good spirits. Sorry to hear about the troubles some of you are having. Keep your head up and remember that weight loss is a marathon, not a sprint. It can be done over time, just have faith and keep on keeping on. I hope you all have a great weekend. |
