Done!! I had 3 goals today and I almost accomplished all 3: 1) No injuries or rolled ankles -- check. 2) Not finish last -- check. 3) Finish sub-2:45. Dangit, I was a 2:46 and change. BUT my Garmin clocked the course at 13.99 miles, and I was 2:37 around 13.1, so I sorta kinda almost accomplished that goal.

Hard, hard run! Steve bailed (due to illness -- I know if he were healthy he would have been out there crushing it! I am very sad for him -- feel better, buddy!!). From what I can see Steve's two other guy friends that ran with me last weekend bailed (never saw 'em). I had a friend doing the 50K/ultra, and he came in half-way and called it quits -- just couldn't muster to head back out there again. So because he bailed, I knew one person at the end!

Super-duper hard work, but glad I did it. Thanks, Steve, for getting me out there and throwing down the challenge. I'll write a RR later. In a nutshell, I passed people going up (wow!!). And got passed endlessly going down. I'm just a conservative wuss when it comes to the downhills -- I want to keep the body ready to see another race/trail/day!!

Now... GO SAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Found this thread in Tri Talk about an IMAZ BTer specific race tracking site:

Noticed that Linda was registered in it for tracking as well.

FB post by Sam - she finished in under 11 hours!  Fantastic!

Yeah, sorry about the updates, my phone died.

She finished 10:45ish.  There was some confusion at the start line, 1/2 the people were at the start line, the other 1/2 were still up by the registration area, so she's not exactly sure where the start line was.  Clock time was 10:56.

It was quite a day out there.  Some amazing people.  3-4 guys finishing their 30th consecutive race, and one guy doing his 43rd, He missed one year due to being in the military so he doesn't have the 30 straight.

We went to the pasta dinner the night before, they were inducting 10x and 20x finishers into the 500 and 1000 mile clubs, they give out shirts for 500, 1000, 1500 & 2000 mile runners.

The final speaker they had was a guy that started in 1971 and ran until 2001 straight.  He read about this "hike" in the paper the day before the race and decided he was going to head down and do it.  He didn't have running shoes so he borrowed his sons boat shoes, and to see if he could do it, he ran up and down his stairs a few times.  For nutrition he cut up some leftover steak and put it in a bag along with a couple hard boiled eggs.  I think he finished in 14 - 15 hours.

He used those boat shoes for the first 4 times he did the race.  He actually has them bronzed (he showed us).

Best one of those type dinners at a race I have been to.  It has quite a history and tradition.  I think the winner won it in 5:40 something, amazing.

Hats off to you ladies, dang impressive...Just so you all know Kyla's race today was super hilly. The race director laughs when you talk about this course because he knows it is hard. Her friend that bagged on the 50k is über fit and that fact that he didn't want to go out and do another lap and change says something.! Sam... No words describe how impressed I am. You have conquered the world... Enjoy!!!

Hi gang - I'm alive and well.  Quads are a little sore but other than that I'm in pretty good shape.  I can't thank you all enough for the great support.  It means so much on a long day!  And thanks to my great hubby for providing me support and hugs on course all day.  I would count of the miles and minutes until I saw him again.  And he surprised me with some wonderful bath salts he picked up at a local store for me.  Ahhh - what a wonderful bath I had when I got home.  I will work on my race report today after I return from taking my son to Chuck E Cheese for a birthday party!  LOL!!!!!!!

Awesome run Kyla - that sounded super painful.  Great better Steve.

NOW GO LINDA!!!!!!!!!  GIRL POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
