Oh. My. Gawd. Yes.

I had a disc cover on with a 90 front, and even with as big as I am, I was getting knocked around all over the place, especially in those last 5 miles coming up the causeway.  It was pretty brutal.

and Congrats FillUp!!!!!!

I was obsessively tracking the race from my desk. I'm hoping Team Rev3 takes me back next year, since I won't have to spend the first 6 months of the year in Army training...

Spirits good. Went to the beginning of a meeting and hung out before, couldn't stay sitting up. In bed exhausted but can't sleep.

So, normal and all is well for where I'm at, which apparently is exactly where I should be. People have been saying that to me for 10.5 years and I still have no idea WTF it means

Got a friend that did IMWI yesterday at 10:00:05.  36th overall and 5th in his AG.  He had an accident 1/2 on the bike, trashed his tire, supposedly a stranger loaned him a tire.  Added 20 minutes to his time.  He is now waiting roll down cause they only took 4 in his AG.  This was his last chance at Kona.  At least for a while.  Keep your fingers crossed for him.

I hope he gets it.

That would haunt me if something like a mechanical kept me out of Kona.

I can't complain since the East Coast usually get's the short end of the stick when it comes to nationally televised events.  They are on so late for them.

BUT, tonight's interesting.  The first MNF game is on at 3:55 today!  I don't even get home from work till 5:30 on a good day.

People are so awesome. And so weird.

One of my BFs friends is unbelievably loaded rich. This weekend was the 2nd charity event I've been to with him where he has dropped $30K like he was tipping a waitress. Naming rights to the next baby tiger cub? MUST WIN. Obscure painting by local artist? MUST WIN and then RE-GIVE back to charity to auction again. Here's another few thousand for the pot.

He also basically "pays" a girl to be his girlfriend. Now this I do not get. She is model-gorgeous but is basically his assistant in every way/shape/form. She does not work. He gives her all access to credit cards, pays her bills, etc. in return for her doing whatever he asks (grocery shopping, clean house, be his girlfriend). I am not sure if she is just living the dream, or has such little self worth that she thinks this is as good as it gets for her? What happens when he loses interest and she has no education, no job, no money. Not my problem but girls like this baffle me.

Who's to say he will lose interest?  You make it sound like it's inevitable.  How old is she?  18?  She doesn't have an education?  My wife doesn't have a degree.  I guess she is uneducated as well?  Did he ask her to quit school?  Does she pursue her own interests like modeling?  Maybe that's not paying off and he supplements her income for her assistance?

I guess I see it this way.  If I was loaded and in a long term relationship, I may simply say "quit your job and help me" - especially if they aren't in a fulfilling career of their own or don't like their work.  It would be a way for me to spend more time with me, make my life easier, and since I'm not depending on a second salary, what's the big deal?

For example, the wife would have to work a side job as a server when she was making nothing as a ballet dancer when we first dated.  There were nights that I said I would give her 20 bucks to NOT go to work and stay home with me (since there were many nights that's all she made).  If I were even better off?  I could say quit, pursue your dance full time, but if you need money, I'll take care of you if you help me out with stuff so you don't feel completely like a gold digger/mooch.

Training our bodies to work efficiently in Zone 2 will help us keep our HR and pace even throughout an Ironman. This theory would hold true for the bike and run portion of an Ironman race.
