When someone figures out how to survive without having a "job" please let me in on your secret.

Kyla Suzy. Chime in and help out here please.

The last time I looked, I get a paycheck every month.  It may not be the fancy-a$$ job I had before we moved to Madison, but damn is it flexible.  Seriously, on average I only work about 10-15 hours per week for the same employer I left12 years ago.

How do I get to work so little?  I married well, we saved a lot over the 23 years we've been married and I'm frugal.  Well maybe 2 out of 3 of those things are accurate.

I was doing my swim workout today and my coach happened to be at the pool giving a lesson to someone else. WHen He was done he watched me swim a little and then decided to film and time me doing 50 yds. Bearing in mind that my fastest 100 yd. pool swim is 1:33, I swam 50 yds. in 33seconds! Who hoo!!!!! (And I could have done better). All these yards are paying off in time.

P.S. The tri-suit company is Epix Gear.

Woo-Hoo!!!  Great job.

PS. The penny idea is the ticket for me at the pool!

Two words: Sugar Daddy.

Ha! But seriously, I'd trade a paid income for many of the hours I put in every day, every evening, and every weekend (with the exception of 1-2 ME weekends/year). Never intended to stay at home this long, but never intended some of the life cards I have been dealt, either. So be it. My job can be extremely stressful, so I need to keep up with things that keep me happy and balanced.

Wow!  So how did you get to be that fast.  Just yardage or were you a swimmer in high school or college?

Yardage with lots of coaching and practice on stroke mechanics. Now I have to learn to do that for longer periods of ime. Laughing

WOW...and the drama continues for Rock N Roll Las Vegas.

http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2011/dec/08/health-officials-trying-pinpoint-source-marathon/

http://www.facebook.com/RnRLasVegas

Seriously, the facebook page some of them makes a funny read, and quite a few are pretty angry about the whole thing.

I'm SO glad that I approached this race as a fun race, but whoa. If they're going to cap it at 60k next year, I ain't doing it.   I think so many people wanted to do this race because of two reasons: It's Vegas! Second - It's at NIGHT!  While those two reasons are great, but it just *ticks* the heck out of me that there was so many people that ran maybe a mile, then walked the rest of it and they said, "I ran a half-marathon." No you didn't...(I've had someone that said, "I ran a Marathon"...but she ran only about 8 miles and walked the rest of it...took her over 9 hours to complete...I mean, *really?!*)

I seriously had to weave around a lot more people than in the past. I didn't have enough running races experience to determine that this is not right. I figured the crowding was more of because I was in the wrong corral (I had NO choice as people would not MOVE, or getting to the assigned corral was just impossible...that's poor planning, or people wouldn't just move). Too many spectators were in the corral areas that made it very difficult.

As for the first link - I did think that it was really strange seeing people getting water from the garbage cans. I think it was mile 10 when I got mine, and I needed water as my mouth was turning a little dry. Luckily I was hydrated enough that I only took a few sips of it. Did I suffer upset stomach? Yes I did, for a few hours, then it subsided when I had food.

Oh yeah...and it also ticks me off that they allowed Kate Gossilin (of Kate and 8...I don't like her anymore...she's allowing fame get through her head), to complete a marathon, and she did it just under 5 hours when there's clearly a 4:30 cut off time (Even if I trained, unless if I'm 100% positive that I would complete under a 4:30 marathon, I wouldn't have done this marathon because of the cut off time, I rather have some cushion)....BUT, I suspect that she was in the first Corral, and the cut off time starts as the last corral goes...so that gave her half hour cushion, but still.

Anyhoo...I need to stop reading the posts, they're ruffling up my feathers...and just found out that the "Stratosphere" on the finisher's medal is more of a copy of the Space Needle.  Think I can get a new medal?! lol...

Hope everyone didn't have similar race as the majority of the people for this race (The biggest complaint I had was the walkers and the lack of electrolytes as they ran out).

Awwwww, buddy... It took that long to smile today?? Not good. Throwing some good cheer your way.

Maybe next week I'll let you throw pinecones (ok, sticks, whatever) at me from Wilderness switchbacks. That would elicit a grin, huh??!

$#]+. Did I just plant that seed??? I'm starting a taper today.

Length problem John? When did that become a problem? Ladies?...

I was due to race a sprint this weekend but I just couldn't be bothered, I'm still enjoying my training although I've neglected the swimming whilst I'm doing Jorge's cycling plan and I'm also doing a running challenge (every day till New Years Day) and enjoying it.

I don't feel burned out, just lacking a focus. IM Busselton registration came and went yesterday, I know I wanted to enter but didn't because I don't think life is stable enough at present to commit to IM training...

Sorry for rambling, any thoughts???

P.S. What's wrong with a bit of body hair? I'd rather look like a MAN than a pre-pubescent lady boy!

RR is up... Wound up running the 5K instead of the 10 miler... due to a race organization problem.  It's all in the report - along with a sizzling review.
No PR but did come in 1st in AG and 2nd overall...  That's how few people there were.  Cool

I'm back too!  Effort was through the roof, time was not what I wanted it to be.  Dang.  Next time, well next year.  The racing season is officially closed for me until '12.

Awesome job Brent....just think you could have been even faster if you knew you were only running a 5K!
