I'm looking for some inexpensive (under $50) Christmas/birthday gift ideas.  I keep on coming up with running-related items, probably because I haven't been outside for a ride since, oh, September 6th.

I was thinking knuckle lights but I asked at Fleet Feet and they said they are great but if you have any form of motion sickness, don't get this.  That means no knuckle lights for me.

Have any of you tried the Nathan light spurs?  Do they stay on?  Do they damage your shoes?

Are you looking for your own visibility or to be seen by others? If seen by others, I have a friend that uses something like this:

http://www.amazon.com/Roadway-Flashing-Armband-Hight-light-Bands-Blue/dp/B008B59UOI

I'm sure you have a headlamp, so I won't even go there.

ETA: This might be a better representation:

http://www.nitebeams.com/products/arm-leg-bands/

Actually, that was meant to be a two part post

  1. inexpensive (under $50) Christmas/birthday gift idea
  2. One of my ideas was the light spur (or knuckle lights).  I'm looking to be seen by others.

If it is something for your feet, they have a few options. I like these, just for the originality factor:

http://shop.nitebeams.com//index.php?p=catalog&parent=4&pg=1

They actually have a few other options that might fit you a bit better.

OMG 6 pages behind and no time to catch up.  I have read all posts through email, but we are just into final exams and I don't have time to reply to anything...  Sorry to hear about new injuries Erin and TJ.  Stop it wouldja?  Matt, nice to see you

My partial plan for next year:

Disneyland with whole Fam Damily Feb 7-14 .  This is the trip that got postponed due to my brothers illness last year.

BMO Vancouver HM May 3

Victoria 70.3 Jun 14

IM Copenhagen Aug 23

There will be an Olympic or two in here as well, a swim race or two.  I'm gonna throw some 5 and 10 k's in there too--I had so much fun in the one 5 k I did last year.  Maybe another 10k with my bada$$ SIL.

Hmmm I was considering the BMO hm as well. Do you go out on the sea wall for the half?

It's actually a really cool route: From QE Park, around False Creek, along the water to Stanley Park, past Lost Lagoon, then through the park to the seawall and around Brocton Point to the finish in Coal Harbour.  It goes through several communities of the city.  See  below.  It would be very cool to see you run!  Of course, I would only see you for the first 2 minutes, and then you would be gone!

Wow.Three weeks til Christmas, Js company cut his position due to 2015 budget issues. They realize he's valuable and haven't completely severed ties, so not as crappy as it could be. However, positive, stress-relieving thoughts would be much appreciated as job hunting gets serious.

WHAT!!! Aren't you glad you listened to the Manatees (and more than likely your wife).

Do they think there was much damage done or any follow up treatment required?

You had mentioned that he was looking, but wow, what a crappy push to find something new. I'm glad they haven't completely finished things off though. I'll be keeping you and yours in my thoughts and prayers.

SO glad you went and got it checked! And you've inspired me - I'm going to make my annual appt today - so important to stay on top of our health. I'm sure you're in good hands!!

Erin - that sucks - sorry to hear about the layoff.

Yanti I've been following your antics on FB - I assume Kingsley is aware that being married to you means a life time of ZERO dull moments, right? :D

Good luck to all this weekend!!

Good thoughts for both Darren regarding his cardiac event and Erin regarding J's employment status.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO RACERS (including Kate--you're gonna rock it)!!  And congrats to Yanti and Kingsley for their record-setting mid-Iron 100th wedding!!

DL'ers, sending healing thoughts.  I'm kind of on the DL too.  I overdid it at crossfit last night and my hip is killing me.  Should be off the list by next week.

Erin and Darren, many good thoughts.

((((Hugs)))) to you all.

Find a mentor. Make a list of at least three people that you could approach for help, list your specific needs and then be courageous enough to begin asking.
