Ahh, Tracy at her best!!!   I believe my Doug and John were talking sports scores at that point so the expression is probably accurate.

Lava magazine - I get it.  I like the advertising for races.  Was kind of excited about the new 70.3 race for next year, Ironman Poconos 70.3 on October 2, 2011.  That's my birthday (and a very cute little one in GA I believe Wink) so it would be cool to race on my birthday.  Also liked the idea of Eagleman on the Eastern Shore of MD.  Potentials for the future. Tony, Sam, Stan, interested?  I'm missing someone else in the DC area I think?

AWESOME pictures Doug.....brings back some memories....and 1 or 2 of them are actually pleasent.

Thanks for the info on the Rev3 Knoxville race.  I am going to read some of the race reports and make triple sure about this but I talked with the GF last night and I am 99% that we are both in for the OLY.  Can't wait to meet the gang.

Eagleman here in MD may be full, there were only a few hundred spots left last week.  IM Poconos is on my radar for next year.  It is new and of course it's in the beautiful PA Poconos.

I would definitely be interested in Eagleman if they have spots available, it looks like registration might be already closed.  Poconos i'm not so sure, i'm a wimp on little hills doing a HIM in the mountains, not sure if I can handle that...

I'm still debating Rev3.  I've been reading what I can on the HIM.  Based on what i'm reading it seems like a difficult HIM course for a first timer, especially since it would be my first race of the year.  I already got the ok from the boss so I'm just debating if I can train enough so that I can handle those hills and then run 13 hillish miles.

SSMinnow - 2010-09-27 9:43 PM Can someone sum up the yes's and maybe's for REV3???

I recall Steve, Julia, Sam, Tony, Suzy, Dineen, John (head cheerleader) as firms.

I recall Doug, Tracy, and Stan as maybe's......

I recall Birdy, RP and George were too wimpy to even respond to the invitiation

What say the rest of you?

Wimpy...that hurts!!!

I would love to go.  Need to figure out how to convince the wife so haven't even approached it yet.  It is a 12 hour drive for us and we are driving to Louisville at the end of June which will be another 12 hour trip or so.  I have been talking about a HIM with her for a while now and her concern is training time so I am thinking that the reasoning for this is to do the HIM early in the season and get all the training out of the way early.  Think it will work???

Hey Stan and George.......

I'm really not trying to be a total PIA, I just would really love to see as many of us get together as possible.   Lonestar was really early for me too, but I knew it was the kick-off to the season so I wouldn't be my best.  It allowed me to test some things and learn from there.....

Stan, if you already have the permission slip signed you sort of have to come, right????

OK, of the early pics, Tracy, I LOVE the one of you getting into your wetsuit. Classic. And of the newer pics: WOW!!! Awesome leg shot!! STRONG!!!!!!!!!!! VERY cool!!

GEORGE:

I think the "get the training out of the way early" argument is sound when it comes to life with kids. Speaking from personal experience, that is the main reason I chose CDA for my IM, and it couldn't have played out better in terms of my summer and family time. Race was one week after school was out, and then I was free and clear. Yeah, my training was spotty at best all summer, but I had crossed off my main list item, so it was all OK. Makes for some gloomy training in the winter for sure... but it keeps ya honest!! Ha! I'd sooo love to "see" you do a HIM (from afar... of course I'd much rather SEE it up close or race one WITH you, but we take what we can get, right?!).

Hey boys and girls......anyone out there considering doing a little racing this weekend? talk us through your plan!

For those of us non racers, what ONE non-SBR thing are you planning to do in the off-season?

i'll be in charleston (folly beach if anyone is familiar with the area) for a wedding.  i really want to race the half iron up at halmax in myrtle beach but its just a little to far, got to be back at 4 o'clock and its a 2+ hour drive.  so, there's a 10k nearby that i might run.

for the short off-season, i might take some swim lessons.

Hell no on Eagleman - usually has jellyfish (lots of them), high risk of not wetsuit legal, extremely flat and boring bike and hot as hell.

Would love to HOWEVER, I finally got my first coaching contract and part of the deal is that I do the HIM up here with her that she is training for.

That's awesome!  When you say do the race with her, I assume that means you will be there as a spectator and coaching her from the sidelines correct?

Nope she wants me to do the race also. We will have to make sure she is completely ready before race day and I will work with her right up to start time and with her during the race when we meet up during the race. She'll be much more ready than I was for my first HIM.

Tracy, fear not, we know you eat and we already know you're cute.  So is your hubby by the way

Rob, glad to hear you have a full time client.....are the HIMs the same weekend???

Keep meaning to ask if people are receiving LAVA magazine.  What do you think?

The Him's are not the same weekend but I have to consider cost. Travel wouldn't be much as it is only about a 12 hour drive but the rest is a consideration for me right now.

Doug, that is a horrible picture of me!!! Did you have to take one when I had food in my mouth?!?!?!

That picture looks very much like what you looked like when we went out for supper last year. You looked very tired that night also but then you were training hard at that point too. However the pics with you getting into your wetsuit is great and the running one should be made into poster size and hung at home.

Off season weight training.

Red:

I like that you are doing the race with her. That is very cool and I bet will put her at ease. To be honest, while a general AGer doing their first race is not likely to win or podium, coaching during the race is prohibited and that would not be cool. However, since you and she are going to be racing at the same time, providing encouragement to another racer is awesome.

Doug

Ew, those jellies do not look cool.   Might have to rethink the idea of doing the Bay Swim as well - yuck!!

Off season - heading back to the gym for some serious weight training.  Next time anyone sees me I want to be sporting Roni's abs and Suzy's arms.  Also need to get the flexibility back.  I can't remember the last time I did a split and for me that's not cool.

How quickly does registration for Rev3 close?

Rob, are you going to stay with your athlete the whole time?   Nevermind,  I reread your post and you answered the question.  My brain must not have kicked back in yet, my bad.

Not sure about kid plans yet.....love to have them there, but need to work out logistics if Wes races.
