Expert![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Morning TAN! I'll play. Do you like: Cherries? No thanks. Velcro? Numerous uses. Staple guns? Only if I get to wear it in a holster. Lightning? Relaxing. Crosswords? Not my thing. Modified Trucks? Even though I am from the south...I don't get it. Long drives? Only when necessary. Tea? Being a southerner...the sweeter the better! cake? Not really a desert person. cooking? If it is on a grill. giving gifts? I love seeing other peoples reactions. getting Gifts? Absolutely. Wrapping gifts? My philosophy is, if you buy it you wrap it. When you go by a winery and all the rows of vines are perfectly lined up? No wineries here. Drive Throughs? Only when in a hurry. time alone in a coffee shop with a good book? Don't do coffee. snow sports? I suck at snowboarding, but I love it!. water sports? Not really. taking the pits out of avocados? Don't like them. multicolored pens? I have one in my hand as we speak. |

And like I said, I have nothing against Iowa, I just have this urge to constantly go see new places and figure out what life is like there. On a different note, do you know how long it usually takes that brightroom.com or whoever took pics on Saturday to get them posted? I'm looking forward to seeing them.Sprint_DA - 2008-06-17 8:44 AM crowny2 - 2008-06-17 8:41 AM Yeah, you know the other thing I've noticed about people in general from this area? And no offense to anyone from E. Iowa, but no one seems to have any interest in leaving. Now, I don't mind Iowa, but it's not my particular idea of the place I want to spend the rest of my life, or possibly even the rest of this decade.Sprint_DA - 2008-06-17 8:31 AM crowny2 - 2008-06-17 8:30 AM These things happen. I've got enough reasons to bang my head on a wall with the one girl I'm kinda seeing now. And around here they don't seem to get married and have two kids, they just have two kids. Hard to meet girls my age around here who don't have at least one already.Sprint_DA - 2008-06-17 8:29 AM crowny2 - 2008-06-17 8:14 AM No, man...unfortunately not. She flat out sprinted when it jumped at me.Sprint_DA - 2008-06-17 6:24 AM Good morning everyone. So did you get the phone number of the cute girl? DOH! Well, maybe you will see her on the trail again. One day. After she is married. With two kids. HA! I feel for you brother. I dated a girl from Davenport, many, many moons ago. Names will be withheld to protect the innocent. Suffice it to say, I'm VERY glad I didn't stay with her. Self selecting prophesy there. The ones that are there don't want to leave and the ones that are gone, you won't meet. I lived in Cedar Rapids for 7 years. 4 years for school and 3 years of work. Great place to raise kids. Awesome school system in Iowa in general. Great people. Just not a lot going on culturally. Usually less than a week. |

Well, maybe you will see her on the trail again. One day. After she is married. With two kids. So true. I mean, for boys here. Well, and most girls. =) And I haven't really figured that out yet. Does having kids sound like that much fun? I can't believe the number of people I met when I used to go out during the week who would just drop their kids off at their parents' house. Seriously, they raised you...why should they have to take care of your kid because you want to go out on a Wednesday night? |

Seriously, they raised you...why should they have to take care of your kid because you want to go out on a Wednesday night? Because a babysitter is a sanity saver. A single person can go out when they want and do what they want at their pace and leisure. When you have kids everything is harder - even just going into the store for milk and bread can be a 30 minute stressful ordeal sometimes. You have to get out without them sometimes. If you don't it's very very easy to end up resenting them and it ain't their fault they are kids. |

I don't understand being a bar regular on Tuesday and Wednesday when you're dumping your kid(s) on your parents. My parents would laugh at me if I asked them to watch my kids (I don't have any, this is a hypothetical situation) because I wanted to go out midweek. They would probably say something about living with the decisions I've made. |

Expert![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Yeah, that's too far into the skeevy end of the pool. I do remember a few friends when I was a kid that had parents like that. The grandparents knew the parent was just going to find another way to party so they were basically giving the kids a safe place to be while the mom was out slutting around. |

Science Nerd![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Don't have any kids, either, but my mom has already said that she would watch any once a week (assuming we lived closer). She loves kids, so I think she would see it as her special grandma time. |
