Did the internet go down in the U.S.  I didn't check this site for 24 hours so I would have something to read during my lunch break and there's nothing.  Everyone okay?  Crap, you're probably training.

You caught us.

Sick this weekend Last year, I made the mistake of running outdoors in the cold when I wasn't feeling too well, and I got much worse.  Played it safe and didn't do a thing this weekend.  Now I'm getting panic stricken that I'm losing fitness, falling behind on my training.  I feel better today, and can probably get back to swimming/core work tonight or tomorrow.

It was -5* when we woke up yesterday to go for our run. It took a full afternoon to warm back up! Fingers were too cold to type!

Well, just when I finally get back to structured training and am feeling all pleased with myself, PennState has to go make me look like a ninny by riding his bike outside in 15 degrees on the hardest climbing route around.  I gotta shut up and put up for a few months and then I'll be back with smack.

I have a dilemma.  Jorge's camp is in conflict with NKOTB PLAYING IN RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL!!!!!!!!!!!!  This is kinda like our dream girls trip, a once in a lifetime opportunity really.  I'm thinking of quads of fire biking up the Keene descent backwards, or ascent in this case....OR....Jordan.  Oh man, this completely sucks.  Sometimes life is just so hard...

That is the most obsurd thing I've ever read.  A once in a lifetime experience????  Please go back and make that red/italics.

Of course, and I mean no offense to Jorge, but a training camp is not a once in a lifetime experience either.

Plus you've already done both, so it's not like you're missing out on something you literally only have one shot in life at doing.  So stop pretending this is such a crisis, and just make a decision.

This is why "sometimes life is so hard"???  Really?

PS - the decision you should make is to go to training camp.

Jenn I am so sorry!  I just don’t feel your pain.

Jenn this is not direct at you per say.  My dilemma is, why in the world do people ride the course backwards.  Because, it’s harder?  It’s different?

My opinion this is way wrong.  You ride a race course to become familiar with it.  You can’t do it by riding it backwards.  If it’s because it’s harder, ha I can ride even harder at home.  If others are not bless with having these kind of hill to ride even more so to ride it as raced.  The most challenge part of the course is the last few climbs into town.  In my opinion once again you should know that part in your sleep.  How?  By riding the course the way it’s raced.  Even the Keene decent should be ridden, again for the experience.  The more familiar the more confident you will be.  I feel being confident of a particular course in a key into being faster.

This is not to reflect or attack anyone’s train philosophy, goals or training plans.  And if you feel 110% confident you know the course have at it.  I have ridden the course several times and still ride it the way it’s raced.  Why because I still learn new thing about the course.  That’s all, just my opinions.

I don't think riding a course is all that important. Fine if it's convenient, but otherwise driving it a few days before can show you what you need to know. I have no opinion on NKOTB, however. Had no love for them then, less now.

I have never ridden the LP course, but the main reason why I want to ride it at least once before race day is because I have heard that on the descent, some people ride over 45+mph- for a long time. I don't think it's possible to hit that speed here in Michigan, and the last time I descended at 40+mph was 3 years ago, when I lived in San Diego. In order to have the confidence to descend at that speed, I need to ride it before race day.

Since you have no idea what kind of training we'll be doing I can see why you might think this. Still there is no need to explain the why but to my athletes and those attending the camp. All I can say IMO once you ride the course a few times there is not much more to it, though we'll get to do that for sure and we'll talk about the the key spots.

The cool thing is that the course is there for anyone to go to train and do whatever they feel fits their specific needs!

Yarp.  That's my thoughts too.  I want to get a couple bombs down Keene before race day so that I'm comfortable doing it on race day.

I've hit 50+ on some descents in Wisconsin, but only because I've ridden them several times and know what's coming.

Plus, the training camp weekend sounds like a blast.  Lots of swimming, lots of biking, lots of running, all the cool BTers.

I'm definitely planning to make it to the training camp.    ( And I'm bringing Whizzzzz! )

LP Question:  How long is the run from Lap 1 to Lap 2 in the Lake?

I know this sounds a little over-eager, but I'm thinking of (at least once or twice) swimming 1900 meters, jumping out and jogging a bit, and then jumping back into the water and swimming another 1900 meters.  Little Race Day Simulation

Probably even jump on the Bike after the second lap and ride for a few hours, too.

super short.  10-15 yards maybe?  The slower part is that you have to re-enter into shallow water (like an on the land start or whatever they call it), then do a 90 degree turn around the dock to head out for loop 2).  I don't see any value of getting out of the pool and running over a few lanes and hopping back in, but that's just my opinion.

Jenn I still haven't warmed up from that ride

You would have been warm if you did my trainer ride!!!!!!!  I busted some ballz at that.  There was yapping during a hard interval so I told them if they could talk during that they weren't pushing hard enough...

Oh wow, yeah that's short.  I watched LP on Universal Sports but you couldn't see the exact distance.  Hmmm... yeah that's super short.
