Yanti, I'm sorry to hear about Dana. I know that you are doing the right thing for her. It's always tough to be in that position.

Kate, so glad that you are feeling better! Sorry about the water restrictions. That sucks.

Judi, yeah for running again!

Ernesto, congtrats on the HM. Looking forward to hearing more about it!

Monica, great job on the XC skiing! Since you were on the podium, we will be expecting a race report :-)

Chris, WDW sounds fun! Hey, did your weekend synchronization project happen? Results? Also, do you have abbreviations in your Manatee translation list? You know, HM, DW, DS, HIM, M pace, TW and so on and so forth?

Stacey, your parents sound *wonderful!* What a thoughtful thing they did for you. Even reading about it felt like a hug! And it's good that Phil will be back soon.

Kirsten, any updates on your brother? Is he recovering OK (I mean, all things considered). I was kind of thankful that at least he was at the doctor's office when it happened.

As for me -- lots of running.  Attended a barista competition.  Sample the product. ;-)  Went to a Hurricanes game on Saturday (let Kevin use my ticket to take a friend last night).   What else?  House of Cards (yeah, we're slow).  Off today for MLK day (university closed, next holiday is Memorial Day so I'd best make the most of this one!)

Alright, alright, I'll work on the RR!

A barista competition?  Interesting!  I worked as a barista for a while at a family owned coffee shop when I was going to university - all the free caffeine I could handle, but that coffee smell from my work uniform would permeate into EVERYTHING in the house.  Good thing I like the smell of coffee.

Where was the post about making the podium? Well, wherever it is, congrats!

I completely forgot it was MLK day today and hauled my sleepy butt to the pool at 0 dark thirty only to find it closed! Stupid public pool. As you can probably tell, I don't have the day off and I'm not happy

Sorry, it was on my FB... I found out after the race that I actually WON my age group!  Of course, it helped that I was the only one in my AG...

I tried to get the office closed for the day, but no such luck.  As it is, there's hardly anyone here and there's no point to me being at work, but here I am.  Sitting at my desk, doing very productive things like crossword puzzles and being on BT and getting updates on how our bathroom remodel is going while at the same time worrying about whether or not we'll have a toilet to use.

No one ever needs to know that you were an age group of one. We'll keep that between ourselves.

I love crossword puzzles. I generally do a couple during all my court hearings. People think I'm not paying attention to them, but doing crosswords actually help me focus. At least that's what I tell people.

I love crossword puzzles.  And jumbles and cryptoquotes.    It's how I check my sanity when I get up in the morning.   Doesn't everyone?

Happy Monday Manatees!

Thoughts and prayers for all of those who are sick and going through difficult times with their families. Just know we are all thinking of you and praying for you!

Congrats Monica and Ernesto on your races this past weekend! And I agree Monica - nobody needs to know you were the only one in your age group

I have to say, I am rooting for the Broncos in the Superbowl! That's only because they have Peyton and he used to be one of ours, so I root for whatever team he is on if the Colts can't be there...

Ashley

I am liking this Sunday/Monday off from work thing! I got a bunch of household crap done today, and FINALLY made it out for a wee run. I planned on just doing a bit of a run through the neighborhood, 1-2 miles--just to get my legs back. Well, I ran/walked 3.44 miles as I took a little park path nearby (me and my crazy need to explore EVERYWHERE!). I did go pretty slow--apparently, not running for 3 weeks is not necessarily helpful for the running legs. I averaged 13 min/miles for this, so I am happy overall. Last night Clint and I walked over to the little school on the next block and threw a baseball back and forth for awhile, and then played on the playground monkeybars n' stuff too. Its been a good weekend.

Tomorrow, I plan to just do a little cardio (elliptical probably) and then do some strength training on my upper bod---I am long overdue getting my behind in shape.

oh yeah---STILL high 60s today---its so weird to be out running in shorts and tank top at this time of year. Don't get me wrong, I REALLY would like some rain, but I am LOVING this spring like weather!

After being quite nauseated yesterday, doing very well today.  Eating liquids (is that an oxymoron?), doing lap around the ward.  His surgeon originally said at least a week in hospital, but surgeon on duty today said maybe home tomorrow or Wed.  Bro thinks that is optimistic, time will tell.  Thanks for support and well-wishes.  And yes, being at the doctors office is a good place to be if it was going to happen!

Naughty Ernesto!

I had a good swim at 5:40am today, it was already 25 celcius and very sunny, beautiful Queensland Summer day! Did my running rehab session tonight, I can already feel a difference and it's only week 2 of 6. Also started lifting again this week so in 6 weeks I'll look like Brad Pitt...!

I didn't have off yesterday for MLK Day, but thanks to Janus, the latest winter storm, I am half-arsed working from home today.  Technicaly I called off but I intend to work a little bit, ya know, around my trainer ride!   This storm seems like it will be especially nasty, a 'meteorological bomb' as they put it.  We're to get up to a foot of snow, blowing, drifting, blizzard conditions and temps in the single digits.  Looks like Monica and some other manatees are going to get hit with some of this, too!  Stay warm and safe, gang.  Oh, and go Seattle Seahawks*!!   (*disclaimer: I'm not really a football fan but my friend likes the Seahawks so I'm rooting for them)

They can't seem to determine if we are going to get anything here -- maybe some rain, maybe a trace of snow, maybe two inches of snow.  Definitely some cold (Canadians, keep your arctic air!).

Right now it is sunny and 40F out.  The cold and wet is expected to be here in time for my run though!  Oh yeah, and wind.  20-30 mph.  Fun times.

It's 65 and sunny right now ( should top out at 75), but by morning we will once again be in the 30s!! If it is that cold for us, I can only imagine how cold some of you manatees will be. Stay warm and keep out of blizzards!

We've had an unusually cold winter for here in East Texas too. I'm sick of the cold. I need some warm air considering I'm training for one of the hottest Ironman events of the year. Sheesh

I gotta say I'm super excited for the snow this afternoon/tonight -that means another work from home day tomorrow AKA PJ DAY!!

Feeling much better today as the headache has subsided so I can FUNCTION. Although I would still like to go take a nap.....but that'll have to wait because I'm at work today - albeit in jeans (heh heh).

Have a good day all.......3 more days until I'm ON VACATION!

Ugh.  Getting dressed this morning was an exercise in finding the biggest pair of work pants I have and then finding a whole bunch of stuff to layer under them. What I wore to get to work today... Nylons, tights, work pants, wind pants, long socks, camisole, sweater, another sweater, winter coat, ear warmer thingy, toque, faux fur-lined hat.  Oh and 2 pairs of gloves.

I hate winter.

Just know we are all thinking of you and praying for you! Congrats Monica and Ernesto on your races this past weekend! And I agree Monica - nobody needs to know you were the only one in your age group I have to say, I am rooting for the Broncos in the Superbowl! That's only because they have Peyton and he used to be one of ours, so I root for whatever team he is on if the Colts can't be there... Ashley

Lol - I agree!  I can only race those people that show up, right?  SO if no one else showed up... WINNER!

Okay, so I'm going to admit that I'm a big Peyton Manning fan and a big Wes Welker fan... but I'm still hoping Denver loses to Seattle!!

For most people, there is a story in how they came to the sport as beginners. Some of the most inspiring of those beginner tales begin with health scares.
