Dirty Harry ride this morning. 10mi of on-the-edge FUN! Later I spent an hour running laps around the LRS shopping center trying to choose between Hokas, Asics or Brooks. Adrenalines have been added to my shoe rotation. Wheeeee!

EEEEYAAAAAAHOOOOOOOO

One doc down. Two to go. I'm leaving for Jakarta tomorrow for two days and will check in with the other two docs. Fingers crossed ... but not the legs. Never the legs. Hard to ride that way

Anyway, the condition is that I have to check in with him again (the Bali neuro/psych) as soon as I get back and a repeat MRI. Apparently weird shyte can happen to your brain if it's been knocked about a lot and you undergo a lot of physical stress (like, say, an Ironman).

Fingers firmly crossed, just as the legs are firmly uncrossed... can then even BE firmly uncrossed?

I'm not sure that my melon was ever "right" but after my massive head injury (and the second breaking of the back) while snowboarding in 2007 I've had some real issues with remembering things, people, places, times, dates, etc., etc., etc.  Post-it notes are my friends.

Since I have many hands, I can keep lots of fingers crossed for you! Having your brain whip around in your skull is not a lot of fun and is not something to take lightly, so I'm glad you are following up with the dr ( and hopefully doing what he says).

Good job on the follow ups.  Sending good vibes for a (legit - no paying of the MDs!) clean bill of health.

I was actually thinking about this today too?! LOL SO Have ya?!

Good afternoon my mucho mental manatee mentor friends! I stayed low key for the past few days and I'm finally starting to feel like myself today. So hard to catch up when you missed like 5 pages of posts so I'll just have to jump back in!

Yesterday's swim clinic included another 200 yard test. I cut 12 seconds off my time. WHA?! I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't time it myself. OH YEAH.

Watched the NBC coverage of the Ironman Kona. I thought coverage was ok. It's tough to hit the highlights of a 17 hour race in an hour and a half coverage LOL

Hope all the racers did well this weekend - Judi I already saw your race report :/ Chin up - you're a marathoner!

Oh I also made those protein balls from the USAT magazine. I made two different ones - both with Almond butter, protein powder and honey but some rolled in coconut and some rolled in almonds. I think pretty much anything made with peanut butter or almond butter will be a hit with me - I could eat them all in one sitting

Have a good day!

Have you seen these Feed Zone Portables recipes on USAT's site?

Bought the book but haven't cooked anything from it yet.  I really need a new rice cooker...

hey Mel forget the rice cooker, here is the perfect way to cook rice in a saucepan: - boil your kettle - for every one cup of rice add 2 cups of boiling water to the saucepan - but the lid on and gently boil on medium heat for 7 minutes - turn it off when the liquid is just about gone - leave the lid on and let it stand for 5-7 minutes - done If you want to add a hint of flavour to it add a few cloves, or a pinch of saffron, or half a lemon. Seriously I have never had this not work out to be beautiful fluffy rice.

Thanks for the tips, Stacey, I have copied them and will use them!

Big congrats to Salty for being a stachey speed queen and to Judi for toughing it out and accomplishing her goal.  Congrats in advance to the racers we haven't heard from yet.

JoJo - I'm soooo jealous!!!  My 'buddy' Jason Shortis - he helped me buy a new pair of goggles at IMLP 2 years ago.  I refer to them as my Jason Shortis goggles and I will probably cry if anything happens to them!  Great guy.

Darren - take care of that peg!

Jen - the numbers from your class simply signify your starting point, not who you are or what you are destined to be.  They are simply a measure for you to know exactly how much you will improve with the class, which you surely will.  Rock it, girl!

Random future race musings:

The balance of life feels restored - I have 2 races on my slate that I have officially registered for!  Seriously, things seem more 'right' ever since I hit 'register'.  I'll probably do my good ol' Frozen Foot 5K series again this winter, too.  Found another really cool-sounding race for Nov. 2014, just have to wait for the next block of registration to open up: http://bridgerace.com/

On a related note, I am beginning to lean more and more toward actually signing up for and doing Syracuse 70.3...someone check to see if I am ill!

DOOE EEET!

Seriously, if you feel like your situation will allow for training, sign up for Syracuse.  Do you think that you'd enjoy the training? Didn't you say that you have friends that are doing Syracuse as well?   If you don't feel that you can get the training in, though, then reevaluate.

BTW, Sticks & Biscuits is about my favorite race name ever!

Thanks for remembering the 2XU thing - never heard anything - no problem. I seem to have something going on with a newer sports apparel company called On the Go.

I met their founder in Queensland and his business partner in Noosa. Things are looking good.

In other news Tim Reed seems to be my new buddy - never met him but he coaches my pro Kieran. He - like Clayton - is a low carb triathlete. So i've organised him to be interviewed on the Vinnie Tortorich podcast....etc etc.

some of this needs to start paying soon - lots of free work being done.

Had the cutest email from Josh Amberger yesterday can he please use my pics on his blog. Sure!

Near the end of one of my long runs, I noticed my left hip aching. There was a slight pop with each step. The hip was sore for 2 days after the run.
