Finally logged on and updated my blog for the past few days. I got in 4 miles on Mon. I guess it will get added on to next weeks spreadsheet (not sure how all of that works - this is my first challenge). Anyway, we turkeys need to get a flappin and fly up to the top of the rankings. Gobble gobble.

Hi Gygy!

Yes, your Monday run will count on next week's report. (The "week" ends on Sundays.)

Hope you're enjoying your first Challenge. I find they're great for keeping me motivated.

Here is a Challenge update update!

Some of the teams had issues with their spreadsheets. So here is an update to the update.

I've noticed that some of you are already at 100% of your goals! (And yet, today is only the 14th....) No one gets to record more than 100%. However, you MAY increase your goal. (I'm so nice, aren't I?)

Remaining in First Place, both for post counts AND for workouts -- Congratulations Team Twisnibbins!

Here are the team standings:
1st place - Twisnibbins 37%
2nd place- Moscateers 35%
3rd place (tie) - Wild Hippos - 32%
3rd place (tie) - 5 for Fighting 32%
5th place - Hard Core Tri Corps 27%
6th place- Turkey Terrors 26%

? place - Vigilantes - no spreadsheet posted yet

I've updated the Google Spreadsheet:

I think we're doing pretty good team. I know that like some of you, my training has me ramping up toward the end of the month, so that a higher percentage of miles will be logged in the last two weeks than in the first part of the month. We're going to be the dark horse that comes out of nowhere with 100% in the final tally.

Well, I've fallen off the wagon a bit in the last two weeks, motivationally, dietarily, and training volumatarily It all started with picking up some local honey at the market after reading that we should be supporting local bee keepers. This led to thinking it is ok to eat chocolate bars if they are above 70% cacao, which inevitably led by yesterday to skipping a swim workout, eating a chillis and drinking a six-pack of beer. I gotta get this thing back on the tracks before the cold weather completely derails the training train. I've managed to keep some decent runs on the schedule, and think I will hit my run goal, perhaps before thanksgiving. Pool time is going to get sketchy around thanksgiving since the master's practices are off. It is also too cold for the outdoor long-course pool, which means I will be doing my IM swim goal indoors, which means I will hit the time with the extra flip turns, but that kind of feels a bit like cheating, so I might suck it up and go out in the cold one evening to the outdoor long-course pool.

Hey Team.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to drop out of the challenge due to medical reasons.    I've been feeling a little dizzy during and after a few of my runs lately so the doc wants me take it easy until they can run some tests in a couple of weeks.  It was probably just dehydration but considering my family history and my heart murmur I don't want to take any chances.  So no running for me at least until the 27th.  Who would have thought I'd get bummed about not being able to exercise.

Bummer Joe- I was afraid of that when I read your log. But better safe than sorry. I hope it turns out to be nothing and you get the all clear soon. But ditto on what elektra said-there's always another challenge to do.

Well, I got in lifting and swimming today, so I am over 60% in both. Yay! One run this weekend and I'll be on track.

Kudos to those of you increasing milage over the month! I can't seem to be that structured on the off season.

Have a great weekend everyone! Shake them tail feathers while you train.

okay, let me preface this by saying that I am not a joke teller, because I can never remember them, but I ran across this today and it was too stupid not to share.

Why can't you take a turkey to church?
Because they use such FOWL language

Hardy, har, har.  Have a great weekend turkeys!

Important Announcement - It's long, but please read this!

Part I - Google Spreadsheets: You'll enter your own data.

Because this month's challenge is "Your Choice," the weekly reporting for it has proven to be a challenge of its own.

A lot of the goals aren't run/swim/bike, so they aren't listed on the logs. For example, if your goal is to do 1500 situps, that information isn't easily available to your team captains.

As a results, I have set up Team Spreadsheets on Google Docs.

Everyone will be responsible for entering his/her own progress, for each goal.

I will send a PM to two people on your team: your team captain and one other person. Included in the PM will be:
1) The location of your team spreadsheet.
2) Your username and password. (You must enter this to access the spreadsheet.)

Team leaders: Please forward the information that I sent you to each member of your team. I recommend that you do this via PM. Also, if someone on your team has difficulties using the spreadsheet, please help that person or enter their data for them. (You'll also no longer need to post a spreadsheet for me.)

Each Sunday night, I will access the team spreadsheets and copy your information to the Master Spreadsheet. From that, I'll determine individual standings and team rankings.

Part II - This Week's Reporting

This month's challenge is really an INDIVIDUAL one. Everone is organized into teams because, well, I can't keep track of over 100 people!

So this week, I'm going to give results by INDIVIDUALS. That way, people will know exactly where they stand. (I'll also include the usual team standings, for "bragging rights.")

The month will be 60% over on Sunday. So I'll write a list that shows everone who is at 60% or more of their goals.... versus everyone who isn't.

While it'll take more time for me to write this, I'm hoping that it will allow us to better acknowledge everyone who has been working hard (even if the rest of their team has been eating potato chips on the couch all day).

I think I sent PMs to everyone with the information for the challenge.  If you didn't get it, please let me know and I'll send that to you.

Once you log into the account, you can open our spreadsheet.  If you go to the "share" tab on the right, you can add your email address as a collaborator.  Then you can edit it without logging into the shared account.  Especially useful if you have a google mail account because it will show up on your documents section.

Booo! Why is Safari not working with Google spreadsheets, play nice you guys! If I don't get this problem sorted out by tomorrow, I may need to recruit a little help.
As for my goals, I haven't done a lot of yoga this week, but plan to pull out the mat tomorrow for at least an hour. Also, today I ran a 15 miler, my longest distance yet. I'm pretty sore right now, but its the good kind, and I had a great run.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend Turkeys!

AAAH!!!! I feel so behind!!!  I *am* so behind!!!!!!  aaaaah!!!!

Today was a day devoted to football and friends (I had no less than 5 visitors to my humble apartment, baked a caked, made an alcoholic punch, and made two kinds of dip.  and watched 2 football games.  None of which went my way.

Bottom line is, I didn't run today, and I am behind on a few other runs, making me BEHIND!!!!  AAACK!!!!!

But I will run 5 tomorrow if it kills me.

Talked to Dee and we should report the cumulative totals at the end of the week.  So week 2 total is the week 1 and week 2 workouts.
