Holey moley!  That hill is huge!  OMG, 20 miles of uphill climb....twice!  This looks out of my league.  I'm not sure I can climb that hill.  Somebody please tell me climbing 2,000 feel in 20 miles is not as bad as it looks and sounds!

~Mike

I have climbed 6000 feet over 25 miles. Slows you down a little but it is a piece of cake!

In the 110 deg heat and you also didn't whine I bet.

Nope... no whining.... I am doing it again this year too.

Just like you can put on extra gloves, shoe covers, and jackets... I freeze water bottles and put them in my jersey and have to drink extra.

Chile LIKES it.

I am in -- this course won't be too tough. I am going to have to put some serious mileage on the trainer and treadmill. Like someone said, at least it isn't Silverman!

Considering doing IM Cal 70.3...it's closer than ideal, but it would just be a final long training day four weeks out from IMSG if I do go for it.

There is a 1/2 IM distance event in August in Provo Utah, which is much further for you Las Vegas types. Silverman does a half...November 8th is the date for that event this year.

Before IMSG I'm going to do Cali 70.3 for sure and possibly Superfrog 1/2 if it isn't too close to Cali next year.

Just curious as to haw close it is to filling up.  Do they cut it off at 2100 or 2200?

These things usually fill up fast.  Why is this one taking weeks?  Seems like a great location and a beautiful tough course!  I wonder how many slots are left.

My suspicion is that the slow registration has to do with three things:  lack of advance publicity (I had absolutely no idea this race was in the works); tough course; people wanting to hear from the first timers how it is.  That it's a Saturday race might be an issue for some, I suppose, though to me that seems like a plus.

It could also be that when registration opened it was 14 monthes away. Thats a long time.

Its also early in the year which for some folks in snow locked areas, training for it could pose a big problem.

They did Sat because the race is in Utah (see Mormon's don;t race on Sundays).  They found their turnout was a little low when they try to do races around Utah on Sunday's.  They made that mistake... once.  Nice to have a day to recover and fly back Monday.

This looks like a fun race.  Maybe some day I can compare the "challenging" bike course to IMLP.

OK folks, we're exactly 1 year away. While I won't start the IM specific training plan for a looong time I keep telling myself every day I train is like putting a small deposit into my savings account. :-)

I think it's time to start the official race thread as well. :-)

YIKES! Swim has been cancelled 2 years in a row at the St George Olympic Triathlon that takes place 2nd Saturday in May.

Let's hope this doesn't happen next year for IM St George.
