Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Originally posted by Asalzwed Originally posted by cdban66 Originally posted by popsracer On another note, I had a great training day. Got in a good swim during lunch and then had a great tempo run in the evening. My goal was to run first mile a minute slower than 5k pace, second mile at 30 seconds slower, and last mile as close to race pace as I could muster. I wanted to focus on negative splitting and finishing last mile strong since I tend to go out too fast and fade. This was to be 8:00, 7:30, 7:00. Actually ran 7:51, 7:21, and finished with a 6:41. I was going to run a 25k trail race this weekend but it sold out before I could make up my mind about it. There is a local 5k that I'm doing instead that I've done 4 or 5 times and I've never done well on this course. Lots of high hopes, nothing but shattered dreams. Maybe this year will be different.
Awesome training day indeed!!! It is really nice to see things coming together. I predict that this year will be different for you! Steve! Save the overachieving for the race! Good point. Things just felt good last night and I went with it. I think I'm going to train through this race. I really hate the course. Tough hill right at 2 miles and then a long gradual climb to the finish line. No PR just pain. Good luck at Cap Mega Peak this weekend. I am sure you will do great. |

![]() | ![]() Originally posted by rrrunner Originally posted by Asalzwed Slowly, slowly, slowly adding some actual quality workouts in after lots of easy running. I have a 17 mile trail race this weekend so I just did 2/3 of the workout. Also trying to be mindful about not adding too many things at once. The workout was: WU 400 meters at 82 second, jog then 2 x 1.5 miles at 6:30 pace CD It felt nice and relaxed, enough that us ladies had some real talk during the workout LOL
I've been making strength an emphasis for the next six months. Strength in running (hills! mountains!) as well as weights. I've also been rock climbing with the idea to add this in permanently. I think it is the best complimentary sport to running. Considering joining the climbing gym... Great run session! I love how diverse your outdoor/fitness activities are. Your IG pix are always a new surprise! Thank you! Stay tuned...the next week and a half should be pretty great |

So interestingly enough, we are headed to the tasting room/roastery today. It's been SWAMPED with people so we have been avoiding it until the crowds die down. I will share some pics later. I have not tried the flat white but the base coffee is my favorite (aside from Thanksgiving blend) as it is Casi Cielo. What I mean by that normally our foundation for espresso drinks is espresso roast. Other than that, how do you go wrong with full fat milk? |

I'm a fan of the simple french press Am I going to have to consult my urban dictionary again? French Press coffee is the bomb IF you have a good french press that doesn't allow ANY coffee grinds through. Otherwise, that mouthful of coffee grinds isn't too tasty while traveling 70 mph on I-20 to work. Me? I'm a Dunkin Donuts with a splash of cream type of girl. For those of you who live where it's grey, chilly and rainy all the time...HOW do you survive? We're on day 5 or 6 of upper 30F temps, gray skies and drizzly rain. I'm about to poke myself in the eye with sharpened #2 pencils. Bring me some sunshine! |

I'm a fan of the simple french press Am I going to have to consult my urban dictionary again? DD and Tim Hortons are my faves for the K-cups. Most work mornings I do a K-cup and a Nespresso. I love the French Press but it's time I usually don't have on a work morning. Maybe once DS2 leaves I'll bring the French Press and grinder to work. Edited by rrrunner 2015-01-15 3:12 PM |
