Baby boy's birthday today. He is 7 and full of "spit and vinegar" as my grandmother would have said.

Top from  L-R: Mommy, Bryan (17, on the computer), Ben (12, asleep and drooling)

Bottom from L-R: Jayson (the "perfect" child), Daddy

That's awesome.  I like the brother with drool.

I find it amusing that no matter how many siblings we have we always consider ourselves to be the *perfect* child and attribute all kinds of trouble to the others.

Love the picture though

Lol!  So much awesome, and Happy Birthday to the Baby Boy!!

Of COURSE that's how the siblings had to be drawn.  For example, I know for SURE that my brother definitely drooled and was the "bad kid" while I was the perfect child any parent could ever want.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHA - okay, I couldn't even type that with a straight face.

Oh just the party of putting 1 and 1 together in a reasonable time frame.

The party of 1&1

You're having a pretty good streak right now. Not that luck has anything to do with performance, but maybe you should play lotto or something;)

This is just a matter of doing my job.  I just make habit of mentioning the good things rather than the bad. I also have dark circles under my eyes if that puts things at a more human scale

Ohmergosh. About 4 1/2 days to race time!!! What to wear?! What to eat?! Arghhhhhhhh!

So as I mentioned earlier I started reading The Four Pillars of Triathlon which discusses the mental aspects of training and racing. So the authors were discussing imagination and tell the reader to recall a time when the reader was performing strongly (not necessarily athletically). Then they ask about the mind's eye pictures. Are they moving or still? Black and white or color? Large or small?

Now here is where they lost me... Where in your field of vision - above or below the horizon, or left or right of center? Does the picture have a border around it?

I can't answer those questions. I guess my mind's eye pictures are more vague than other people? {shrug}

How are you feeling today? DId you decide what you are going to wear/eat?

I think the mental aspect of training/racing/competition is often neglected but VERY important.

I don't really get into the stuff you listed above but I do focus on positive imagery and thoughts I guess. Interestingly, the stuff you listed above is the specific area my partner studied in psychology. I should have her run some tests on me

"I'm a small black box,  moving below the borderless horizon..."

Still having to respond on my phone, grrrrrr

I feel better about clothing choices now that I know RnR lets you discard layers. Food... my insecurity lies in the timing. I usually get up, have some chews and head out on my LR. Well now there will be about 3 hours between getting up and the race. Don't think I want to eat anything "solid" but don't want to under nourish either.

As for the imagery, I should show the book to my psychology major DS2. It's hard for me to determine "where" the image appears. It's in my head?!

Ahem, you have practiced the different options though, right? Right???

Nothing new on race day!

I ran my 10K in my HM/M racing flats, which are more substantial than my other flats (and I wanted to give my feet a break with back to back racing) but unfortunately they are too small and my feet hurt like a mofo. So I had to box them up and send them back today. Bon voyage little guys!

I'm hoping that it really is a size issue because I don't think they changed the model (and I have had success with this model.) If not, my feet are growing/changing. Which CAN happen as well ...

Has anyone done a colour run before? Gonna walk on with my friend K in a couple of weeks, do I wear old shoes that I can throw away if I need to after? My current running shoes aren't that old and cost me $250 so I don't want to wreck them. (Yes shoes are damn expensive here!)
