Finally got in the 50mi ride around the mountain on Saturday, and yesterday was our first try at family kayaking. Kids LOVED it! And T said we have to do it once a month.

That's great! I think you need to get one of those burkinis for your daughter

Then how would she show off her belly button ring and lower back tattoo?

Monica, how did you do?

Welllll... Unfortunately I tweaked my back on Saturday swapping out the wheels on my bike which left me lying flat on my back on the floor and cursing up a storm to the point the cats were hiding under the bed scared at whatever angry demon had possessed my vocabulary.

I decided (probably unwisely, but no one's ever accused me of being wise) that we'd go to the race anyways and see what race-day brought as we'd already registered, paid for the hotel room and the rental car.  Race morning comes and I had 5 Aleve to try and get the pain to subside... which didn't quite work.

It wasn't quite the day I had hoped for... every pull with my right arm during the swim was agony, which meant I didn't rotate very well and ended up drinking a LOT of icky lake water, and aero was a miserable place to be.  HOWEVER, it was a gorgeous (if ridiculously windy) day, I finished with a smile on my face & I was super stoked to see that I had run just over 9 minute miles for the run!

There will be no working out today.

Hmm, the first bolded section suggests that Ben was not referring to your sunny disposition when discussing how you match your hair color!  The second bolded section, however, does support that proposition or maybe (since who would be smiling after all that) reinforces the other proposition.  It's a puzzlement

Still, I'm sorry about your back!

Good luck with your 125th interview and knock Janyne dead!

This did not fail to escape my attention and I doubt it is an error.

I guess it's a good thing that it's not ME doing the interview this morning!  First, I couldn't count my laps correctly, now this!

To the best of my knowledge, Janyne is still alive and I have done nothing to cause her impending doom... but maybe she could comment in here to confirm that for us?

I don't think I have any wacky powers of being able to cause death from afar, but I guess there's only one way to find out?

Janyne - where are you???

Ack, there's me running my mouth thinking everyone knows what the heck I'm talking about when really it's all in my head.  Maybe it really is fitting that I'm a blonde?

The interview in St. Louis would still be for an Austin position, it's just their head office is in St. L.

NOOOO!   (though it might be the only way I'd be able to beat her at IMChoo  )  I'm just sad that I really have no special ability whatsoever.

Either way, Janyne, I'm glad Monica didn't knock you dead!

Oh, puh-leeze.   Clearly you have some kind of special abilities or (a) you wouldn't have made it through that race with all that back pain, and (b) the Austin job search wouldn't be going so amazingly well!  (So excited for you both!!!)

Holy dayum.

For those of you playing at home, I now have interview number SEVEN set up for Wednesday morning.  That's right, folks... Interview.Number.SEVEN.

And they have some testing that they want me to do before then, so... that's fun.

Holy crap, this is getting to be just a tad ridiculous - but I want Jonathan to know that I did mention him in my conversation with the attorney today when we were chatting about IMTX!

I was only kidding when I said they would have you interviewing with the cleaning lady, but it's not so funny now! I think you have had more hoops to jump through than I did for my job and my job required interviews with my neighbors and fingerprint checks

I was in a toss and organize mood today. Just threw out a grocery bag full of candy...collected from the holidays and birthdays over the last 18+ months. Funny thing, there was nary a piece of chocolate to be found. Hmmm...

So much of this post doesn't make any sense.

Great job out there, racing and practicing-to-be-racing manatees!  Ben rocked his AG and race (I cannot even fathom being 5th OA in a race, just wow), Judi PRed her swim, Randee had a solid race (TT swim starts are sooo nice!) and Kirsten battled some nasty, nasty winds but persevered and got 'er done.  We manatees are a tough lot!   And Monica, how did you do?  Tom?

I ran a 21:36.  Good enough for 6th place overall, and 1st place in the 30-39 age group!  I was so pumped to place that high!  When they were handing out the age group awards I thought maybe I'd get 3rd.  When they called 2nd and 3rd, and it wasn't me, I was bummed.  I was really surprised to take 1st!

It's also technically a PR.  So it was a great day all in all.  Finished the race and then rolled out with some friends for a 20 mi bike ride.

He did, he got me two pairs, which resulted in him being totally forgiven for phoning me at 3am this morning.

He isn't home yet so I haven't had a chance to try them.

Well, finally got back on track again after the 3 peaks weekend.
We managed to raise a nice £2275 (just shy of $4k) for the local Childrens Hospices.
Out of the 20 walkers, 9 completed all 3 within 24 hours, 2 fell outside 24 hours and the rest either managed 1 or 2 mountains.
It was very eventful, and sleep deprived driving was "interesting" , but all done, no one injured/died/etc so its all good!

Thanks for the inspires guys

In Other news, several of the walkers from the 3 peaks are deciding to do a 50 mile bike ride from London to Cambridge as a follow up.... and trying to get me involved. I've done it before (3h59) but I was actually fit then ... gives me a goal to work for but it is only 6 weeks away. Should I do it?

3am phone calls are the best.... especially when combined with copious amounts of alcohol....

Ah there was no alcohol involved just an inability for him to access an email that he needed in order to know what plane he was catching.

I learned in this race that in order to finish the swim, you have to know where you are going. And in order to know where you are going, you have to learn to sight.

Find a mentor. Make a list of at least three people that you could approach for help, list your specific needs and then be courageous enough to begin asking.
