Hi everyone! Surfacing from some busy times - everything is well. Trying to keep up some consistency and not always achieving it. :S Anyway, doing quite a bit of running that is unstructured and just to keep at it - i am calling it better than nothing ... with no future races plannned I am in it to keep at fitness which is always tough for me. I do so much better when I am training.

Yanti!!! You are awesome! Way to go on your Ironman

on B2B: I don't really know what to think. Competition is good but people do vote with their participation and $. Many on here do support local races so it's tough. I know I love my local races but i know that people going for long-distance like the comfort of the brand - for me in particular the numbers or races. It sucks to be alone at the end of a race ... anyway, B2B seemed like it was doing well and the half, at least had IM70.3 numbers. I am not like the dudes on ST though, i don't really think for the vast majority of us KQ or WC qualifying matters all that much.

Talking of KQ, surely Yanti should be close to a legacy slot.
I don't like the actions of WTC. I know it's a business but I feel they are far too aggressive toward other race organisers, especially Challenge. Sure, they do put on a good show. Worth the extra bucks? That's debatable. I feel the competition needs to offer something different to what WTC is offering, whether that be off road type event like Exterra, a more family orientated experience like Rev3 or something spread over three days like the Long Course Weekend that I race in Wales. I wonder if a company isn't missing a trick by not putting on a long weekend type event at IM locations 3 months out from the event. If someone does do it, I wouldn't put it past WTC to flex its muscles and get them banned from operating on the same course.

Hey Sean and Jen, great to see you

Today was my first more-winter-than-summer bike ride (I have never biked with temp lower than 50, so were a little freaked about the ride). I enjoyed it a lot. Forgot headband, but it was not windy, so I did not really feel it. The jacket I had was a huge mistake and I was about to bake myself it felt so hot. Lesson learned: no winter jacket when it’s not windy and 41 degrees. I shall probably see how it feels at night, when I come back, but I can imagine I will definitely not freeze.

Thank you for your feedback on Total Immersion. Since I am not an experienced swimmer, I rather treat this book as some additional guidance, some helpful tips. My goal at this point is not to get faster, but to keep the balance and not carry those heavy iron legs behind my body when trying to swim. I am half way through and I like some ideas. My plan for now is to finish the book and see if it helps. If by February I do not see any progress with my front crawl, I will go with personal coach (I already got some recommendations). In the meantime I will be just working on the distance with breaststroke – worst case scenario, I will have a strong plan B. And who said running was the hardest part of triathlon……?
Have a great week everyone!

Nice milestone, TJ!!

Just breezing through here. While I have a bit more BT time in the mornings, I seem to be spending most of my time sending inspires rather than in the forums. Sounds like a lot of exciting times here!

Yes, you need to try it. Let me know when, so I can travel to your house and taste it, please.

Actually, I wonder how it would taste? I'm guessing it isn't as tasty as it sounds. Too much going on and I think the pie crust would get soggy.

I too learned the hard way that less is more when dressing for cold rides. Cover your ears, fingers & toes and you can put up with the rest. I'd rather be a little cold for the first 5 miles than be too hot for the rest of the ride.

What is that...? Bake a pie into a cake thing? Sounds interesting (if somebody likes baking).

I've seen it on food network this year.  One bakery made the pies the first day and let them rest. Then the next day they baked them in to the cake.

It's a piecaken. Saw it tried out on a Thanksgiving show. Nope. I like pie too much to do this.

I think I'll start with the single layer and see how it goes. It has to travel so I think anything higher would topple......my office voted pistachio cake and cherry pie. Think I'll make a vanilla bean buttercream frosting too. I think I just got a cavity typing that.

This week I am making treats for two holiday parties for DH (different shifts) and one for DS1 party at school (haven't done that in about 15 years)
