And just last week got a thought that ...maybe... I could try and train super hard to be semi-ready for the June 23rd race. I've been to this group long enough to understand 70.3 is no joke, and to take it seriously, so if I don't feel ready, I will probably do Oly distance, instead of 70.3, but will try to train my best. I was sick for over a week, and just got back to training two days ago, ugh, hopefully no more surprises along the way. Do you think this is way too crazy idea? Originally posted by marysia83 Originally posted by IronOx Thanks Adam, for giving me even more pre-70.3 anxiety... Great job on staying strong!! Originally posted by awm007 I survived IM Virginia 70.3. Race report is up if anyone is interested. Congrats on the finish, sounds like a tough day! Marysia, what 70.3s are you considering? I'm sorry to hear that you were under the weather. That can be tough to come back from! The race is in six weeks? So five weeks of training. Your long ride is 17 miles? And your long run is 50 minutes? Building up both the bike and run is a big ask, for sure. You have a trail marathon three weeks after the triathlon? Which is your A race? The bike's so far are mountain biking on technical terrains, so completely different beasts, I think I only did one on the road bike few weeks ago. But beginning tomorrow, biking as long as I can get. Trail marathon is three weeks after the tri, correct. And this is really my A race. I have not signed up yet. My plan is to still focus on the runs, for the marathon, and the swim and bike as secondary. If in the next few weeks I do not think long tri is an option, then I will re-shift my attention to stronger runs. I also want to do open water swims, to make sure that whatever I do in the pool can actually be achieved in the "real" water. |

Member 836 North Augusta, South Carolina | Subject: RE: Manatees - 2019 Edition - Practice Maximum Enthusiasm - CLOSED I'm starting my taper this week for a HIM on May 26th. My Wed-Fri 'workouts' consist of chaperoning a 3 day, 2 night field trip with my 8th graders. We will be on the go from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. every day. God help me... We are going places I've never been, though. Haunted tour in Savannah, The Little White House in where FDR spent time in the warm springs, Andersonville Civil War prison & cemetary and Tybee Island. |

Master 8247 Eugene, Oregon | Subject: RE: Manatees - 2019 Edition - Practice Maximum Enthusiasm - CLOSED Great taper! I used to do something similar (to a national park for science/ecosystem studies) every spring with my 5th graders in Vietnam. One the go all day and then on call for any crises (illness, bug bites, prickly heat, spider and gecko removal, roommate conflicts, homesickness, etc. Even the occasional, "I just got my first period," drama.) all night. Harder than any workouts! |

Oh wow!!! That trip does sound kinda fun - minus the haunted tour. I'm surprised a school is endorsing that kind of sightseeing. Maybe it's just me, and I don't know how the tour is presented, but teaching 8th graders about ghosts, and that they are real, and that they haunt places, when they are away from their own family for multiple nights seems... risky? |

Sounds really neat! I'm considering breaking my drive down to Miami later this year in Savannah. I'm interested to hear more about the haunted tour. |

Oh man, my parents would have been furious if that was part of one of my field trips, ha! Coming from a religious upbringing, anything related to ghosts, spirits, wizards, etc. was considered sinful and dangerous. Plus it would have scared the crap out of me, but I'm admittedly a scaredy-cat |
