Someone, who shall remain anonymous, is getting carpal tunnel due to this.

Is it Dave?   It's Dave, isn't it...  Seriously, it's gotta be Dave, right?

I had to re-read this for full effect. Seriously: I was off the grid interviewing this afternoon. Went well.

Groovy!  Hope it works out for ya.  Is it something you're interested in, or something that you're just looking to take at this point?

Good question. The job I really want and have interviewed successfully for is under a hiring freeze. Don't know when or if that"ll lift. This is software sales to labs for data management and compliance. Something I cam certainly do, but love it? Maybe.

I've always felt that being able to love what you do is a bonus, but in the end, unless what you are doing is what you would choose to do if you were independently wealthy, whatever you do, it is simply what you do so that you can afford to do the things you actually WANT to do.

So, as long as the job covers those things, reasonably at least, then it's a good job.

Fingers crossed for ya, man!!

Thanks Chris. It seems like a good job and an interesting product. Just that it's removed from my core competency in biochemistry and more lab informatics and management. Something I certainly appreciate and know, but it always seemed more a task than a passion. Just had another recruiter call this morning with a phone screen. From a volume perspective, things are going well.

Cool news on the new phone call!

A good friend of mine is a complete foodie. It quite literally is who she is.  So much so that she got into food sales with U.S. Foodservice doing food sales to pubs & restaurants.  She found that she HATED it because while she was around food, it was schlepping frozen meats and low-grade bar slop.

She recently got into a new gig doing sales for an advertising company; just trying to get companies to advertise through them (similar to Google AdSense)... and she LOVES it and feels like she has found what she was meant to do.

The difference is simply that she now has a product, company, and team that she can stand behind and feel proud of.

Just $0.02 of blathering on perspective, maybe.

Any chance your background in biochem helps you in the current gig and maybe could help open doors for the new gig?

Obese people eat pie

You use pie as a derogatory remark

Ergo, you're being more derogatory toward obese people.

Good Job, Lisa......Good. Job.

11 hours, and you work for 8, ok Salaried 9, plus commute.  What do you do besides sleep and work?  :-)

Seriously - I work 12-14 hours a day in our busy season and sometimes my brain turns on at 2:00 a,m. and doesn't really shut off.  I don't function well some days and I am the grouchy old &%*$^# man that runs the manufacturing plant and people know what days those are.  Usually they are rare, but during busy season, I worry about making shipments and how I am going to make it from raw material to finished goods in the time I have in the day.  Then I try to work on my metal art and learn new songs for the band in my spare time.

Well normally I sleep 9 hours - from 10 p.m.-ish to 7 a.m-ish. Work 8:30-5 and my commute is 10 minutes each way.
So from 5:15 to 10 is nearly 5 hours of free time. I imagine I spend it like a lot of us, an hour or two of training, cook/eat dinner, straighten up the house, hang with the boyfriend, catch a TV show if there is nothing else going on. Sometimes dinner out, or a kids school event, local concert or movie. Not a bad life!

Training our bodies to work efficiently in Zone 2 will help us keep our HR and pace even throughout an Ironman. This theory would hold true for the bike and run portion of an Ironman race.
